End of week 2 with 2 GSC in starting pots. I’m getting some burning on the leafs. Thinking it may be nutrient burn since it’s showing on the lower leaves. I’m not adding any nutrients so if it is nutrient burn, it must be coming from the soil. I’ve raised the lights from 24 to 28” as a precaution. Any thoughts on what may be causing the burning?

The leaves on my two plants are starting to show signs of burning. Is this nutrient burn? I have no added nutrients yet but I am using Happy Frog soil. I’ve raised my lights from 24 to 28” in case it’s light burn. What are your thoughts and recommendations?

As soon as I saw the name "Happy Frog" I kinda knew what I was going to see. Happy Frog, just like Ocean Forest is heavily amended soil, especially with extra Nitrogen. These soils can be very hard to gauge as we don't really know what it's lacking or what it has an abundance of... So, ya, your thinking that it must have come from the soil, is my thinking too. Heavily amended soil, especially on seedlings, can cause havoc. I know this because I used Fox Farms Ocean Forest for my first grow and it was a constant battle. Firstly, I would continue to feed balanced distilled at 6.3-6.4 to even out the soil pH imbalance. That Nitrogen is probably locking out some essential nutrients that she's trying to pull, right now. I can only wish you luck that everything will be ok and that she will grow out of this condition. In future, and what I have moved to, is to use neutral soils. Non-amended soils that have all the good makings of a good media without the extra goodies thrown in. When you move from the solo's to a bigger pot, I suggest dropping the Happy Frog (I know you paid good money for it, but it may not be worth the hassle). When I did my final pot up in my first grow, from 3 to 5 gallon, I said screw the Ocean Forest and went for Dutch Treat potting soil to finish it off, and damn near all my problems went away. I still have a bag and a half of Ocean that I will not be using...ever again. Nutrient amended soils are attractive but in my personal opinion, just aren't worth the trouble when/if something goes sideways. Hope this helped my friend and happy trails. Good luck with the girl in the coming days and I hope all will be well. Cheers!😉👍

Last week the Girl Scout Cookie plants were experiencing some nutrient burn. I suspect it was due to the containers being a bit too small and too many nutrients coming from the nutrient amended soil. I have a 3rd plant that is a White Widow and she’s having no problems under the same conditions. This past week I flushed the soil with water and moved both plants to larger containers. I’m continuing with the same soil for now (Happy Frog) but this time I flushed the soil first to strain out excess nutrients. These girls want to grow and I suspect the larger containers will help. #1 seems to be recovering well so far. #2 is still acclimating to the new environment. I suspect she’ll be better soon. Time will tell...

This week I topped, pruned, moved to a 5 gal container and started the mainline from node 4. Down to 1 plant as #2 didn’t make it. Pretty sure it was nutrient burn from Happy Frog soil.

Topped again this week. Have 4 main colas now and will top once more this week to get to 8 colas. Leaving a few fan leaves on for now to help the plant get energy from the light. Started adding low dosage of nutrients. Up to this point all nutrients can directly from the soil

I took off the plant ties this week and put a tomato cage around for potential future support. She’s starting to stretch pretty well. Will keep an eye on how close the colas grow together. Hoping they’ll space apart naturally. If not, will pull them back to the tomato cage I put around her.

Started some super cropping and more lst to spread the plant outwards more to allow more light and air penetration in the middle. Also started Big Bud nutrients this past week. Bud sites are forming.

Noticed something has been nipping at the leaves. Found a couple of tiny worms/caterpillars. Sprayed the plant with BT to take care of the pests. Hope this stuff works! Bit of nutrient burn on the lower leaves. Going to flush for a couple of days. About 4 more weeks and she should be good to harvest. Already looks and smells amazing!

End of week 6 of flowering. She’s still healthy and happy. Pulled back on the nutrients this week. Switching between just water and water with nutrients each feeding. Terpenes are growing everywhere! Continuing with light defoliation to help get a bit more airflow and light down through the plant. Guessing another 3-4 weeks to go based on the recommendation from Blimburn seeds. We will find out :)

I started a flush and stopped feeding her nutes this week. Buds are looking better every day! I have a different plant in the tent and I found some nanners on it. I think I got them early enough before any pollination. Fingers crossed! Expecting to crop by next update if everything goes according to plan. It’s almost time!!!!

This was my first grow and I really appreciate the community support at Growdiaries.com! I learned a lot from this site and diaries. The ounce/watt per plant isn’t correct. I grew 2 others plants along with this one but didn’t keep a diary on the other 2. One of the others was a white widow and dried to 2.2oz. The other plant is still growing. I decided not to add all three plants to this diary as grow diaries had some type of contest when I started where I could have won something if my diary only contained one strain. Overall, I enjoyed this grow and enjoyed updating this diary for myself and the community. I hope others find it useful!
