Just watering with spray bottle using tap water that has a water softener. Around 7 ph. Light watering twice daily. Growing 2 of each strain. Seedlings have their own 100w CFL with reflective cone 6" above soil. I'm growing in Fox Farms ocean forest. Using fabric smart pots. After germinating I went straight to final pot to avoid transplanting. 3gal soil in 5gal pots. Didnt have enough soil to completely fill pots.
Still only 2 pics. I'm starting this diary late. So these are only pics I have so far. Will have more going forward. But these two pics were taken as they were the fastest growing. The plants are in 5 gal pots but only had enough soil for about 3 gal of soil for 6 pots.
I switched lighting to my 1000w hid with the m.h. bulb. Started at low setting 600w. To allow plant to get use to new lighting. After a couple days they seemed to like it so I bumped it up to full power at 1000w. They're still loving it. I'm off on my weeks. As these pics are 16 days from seed.
Started nutes beginning the week. Approximately 15% strength to start out. Using General Hydroponics trio. Spaced out on second feeding. I bumped up nutes to 30% recommended strength and totally forgot to ph the solution. Waited about 4 days then flushed soil with distilled water. Plants seem to be just fine. I will continue to feed twice then follow with a pure water watering. I also topped 1 of each of my strains to compare with the untopped. I learn best by doing and seeing everything in person. Today I also installed my scrog netting. Also did a little bit of defoliation on the large GDP to get more light exposure. It is getting pretty bushy. Also added a better humidifier to bump up daytime humidity to 50%.
Plants are filling out nicely. After reading and seeing enough diaries I felt confident to go ahead and do some LSTing. So earlier in the week I took down my scrog net and started to train the little ladies. At first I only topped half of my crop. Then seen how well those topped plants were doing. So I went ahead and topped the rest of them. Some of my taller ones almost seem too tall. I should have topped them a lot sooner. I also removed some more fan leaves as some were becoming huge and blocking a lot of light. Last week i spaced out and forgot to ph my feeding solution. I was worried at first. But the girls did just fine and no signs of any deficiencies. The soil probably worked well as a buffer for this noobie. Overall I'm happy how things are going and will reinstall scrog net later in the week as all plants should be able to reach it by then!
Plants are doing great. No discolored leaves or any deficiencies detected. My GDPs have began to preflower. I set my scrog net back a couple days before I switched over to flowering. Also allowed the plants to sit in 33 hours of total darkness before I switched out my MH bulb for my HPS bulb. Have to constantly tuck in fan leaves and some defoliation to allow light to penetrate the canopy. Starting to stretch and very bushy since flipping to flower.
Plants are doing good. They are stretching but not as much as I thought they would. But it's only been a week so probably another week or two of stretching. I did some major defoliation yesterday to open up light and air flow. Also removed some under growth on bottom of plants to redirect nutes towards the top of the plant.
I also broke a couple branches by accident that will definitely hurt my yield. But not that significant. Lesson learned.
Hopefully I can get my entire canopy filled in before they stop stretching. They could have veg an extra couple weeks. But should still have a decent yield barring any unfortunate accidents.
Sorry for pics. I need to find a good time to take pics when lights are off but without disturbing the plants. My first grow and diary.
The girls are getting fairly bushy. The tall GDP is about 26" tall. The smallest one(Bubba Kush) is 16" tall. Small flowers are forming on the bud sites. Daily I check on plants to tuck in fan leaves behind scrog net to expose maximum light to the bud sites. So far seems to be doing fine. I started to add General Hydroponics Kool Bloom today. Hopefully it adds some weight and size the the flowers.
Had one of my rotating fans go down over the week. But got it replaced after a few days. Seems the RH bumped up to around 70%RH at night with one fan out. With the new fan its back down around 55-60% again.
Everything seems to be on the up and up. As this is my first grow I personally dont know where I should be at this point. But time will tell.
The nutes are wrong up top for whatever reason. I've been feeding with 5 gallons of tap water PHed @6.1. Per gallon I add:
5ml Cal-Mag plus
4ml Micro
1ml Grow
5ml Bloom
2ml Kool Bloom(started today)
Plants are doing great. Stretching has about stopped I think. Flowers are starting thicken up and seeing a slight frost on some leaves.
I had to install my old dehumidifier over the week. Peak RH was reaching all the way up to 75%. Now it'll sit somewhere between 40-50% RH. I was getting worried of mold and mildew or bud rot. But all has been avoided for now. My dehumidifier is pulling about 2 gallons on water out of the air every day. That's in a 5x5 tent with 6 flowering female plants under 1000w HPS. I'm thinking I could recycle that water and put it back in the plants. Its basically distilled water. About 10-15ppm.
Girls are doing great! Tent is very stinky inside. Started watering with 6 gallons now. So 1 gallon per plant with full strength nutes. They seem to want water about every other day. Temps have gone up a little. I had to install a dehumidifier. Also added a large metal 20" fan to counteract the heat from dehumidifier. Averaging around 88 f and 50%RH. About the best I can do without getting an A/C unit.
I'm pulling out dead leaves under the bottoms. Still tucking in fan leaves daily to expose buds to maximum light. The buds are getting very sticky and frosty. Had to break out the box of rubber gloves. Or else have sticky fingers with a lingering odor of fantastic. This grow has been fun and looks like a decent possible yield for a noobie. These pics are day 28 and 29 of flowering.
Buds are getting tall and fat. Tent has a strong scent once opened. I skipped a feeding and watered with PHed water twice in a row(shouldn't have done in my opinion). It is really showing with deficiencies in some of the leaves. It's not terrible or effecting the buds in any way. But once back to feeding with nutes they really started to fatten up! Seem to be happy and healthy.
I also forgot to turn the dehumidifier back on one night. The humidity got up to 79%. Everything is back to normal now. Pics are at day 36 of flower.
Buds fattening up nicely. Seem to be heavy and dense. It shows I'm on my on my feeding schedule the last week of full bloom nutes and next week move into ripening followed by a week of flushing. More red hairs are showing up daily. Tricomes look nice. Using a 40x currency magnify glass. From what I can tell all the tricomes are clear with a few being cloudy. There are no amber colored ones yet. Dehumidifier pulling out approx. 1 gallon of water out of the tent daily. If not running the humidity will jump over 80%. But it's also raising the temp of the tent.
Girls coming along real nice. I put my dehumidifier outside of the tent and was able to drop about 6 degrees. It also running more consistently with the humidity. Not such a large rise and fall. Just giving tap water at 6.3. Saving up destilled water from dehumidifier to give last watering to save having to buy any.
Mostly cloudy tricomes with a few clear ones. I saw one or two amber ones on the pure indica #1. I'm sure itll do well waiting another couple weeks before I cut it down. Less than two weeks now(I hope) for the long awaited CHOP!
A bunch of leaves are fading and falling off. Most if not all trichromes I can see look cloudy in appearance. Maybe a handful of trichromes spread amongst all the ladies.
Been giving only distilled water now with 6.5ph. Been using some water from my dehumidifier.
Currently I've been able to keep the tent a little cooler than usual. So now starting to get a little purple showing up in the GDPs.
Planning on harvesting this coming weekend. I hope to see a least a few more amber trichromes by then.
I might make a post next week when harvesting by obviously won't have any dry weights for a couple weeks. But looks like a decent yeild. I'm aiming for a pound but doesn't really matter as it's all personal! 😁
The pics of the PI are backwards. #1 is #2. I corrected them by the pics.
It took 3 of us over 12 hours of continuous trimming to finish it up during the harvest. I will grow less plants next time. Giving myself chance for error being my first grow. Over a pound and a half isn't too shabby for my first time.
