I defoliate several times in the grow process. I also use a scrog setup and I learned my lesson when I harvested my first grow and discovered the entire underneath of the canopy was a yellow/light green and nowhere near the Harvest I could have had. I now defol during the last week of veg, then again at the end of the third week of flower and then I continue to pluck a few leaves her and there throughout the rest of the grow. If you are only taking a few leaves her and here behind week 3 of flower, you won’t be stressing the plant and the exposed bud sites will thank you for the additional light. I’ve read that if you pluck only one fan leaf on the side of a node, instead of both sides, the flowering growth spurt will be reduced. I personally take any and all fan leaves that will be blocking bud sites. Don’t be afraid to take a whole bunch of fan leaves off at this stage. Believe me, the leaves will all grow back and you’ll be defoliating again soon. Check out m my diaries if you want to see how much material I take off before flipping. They really filled the screen this last week and stretched a fair bit, lots of little bud sites all over. I decided bot to defoliate anything, I dont want to do anything to slow the growth as they look realy healthy. I have been feeding everytime I water just using less nutes and only giving them 3 liters of feed per 5 gallon pot, they seem to like it.
Week 3 of flower, the buds are starting to realy take off, getting a nice amount of trichomes for only 3rd week amd smells nice, a bit sweet and skunky.
Everything is still going well, starting to notice the buds swelling a bit, I haven't dropped the temperature yet at night but the buds are already starting to show purple.
This week has been fun to watch, the clock is ticking and they are really paking on some size, building lots of trichomes and have a really nice aroma. I added dry koolbloom to the mix and I can definitely see a difference in growth and crystal production. Stay tuned for next weeks update.
Overall this was a nice grow, strain is very resistant, next time I would veg a little less and open the canopy a bit more to get the light to the lower buds, ended up with 220g of good solid tops and about 80 to 100 of popcorn that was coated in trichomes that made some amazing bubble.
