5 Purple Hazes by White Label (photoperiod)
3 planted directly into 12.7L plastic pots
2 in solo cups (just for testing)
Covered solo cups with tape since the cups are clear, just thought that roots and light don't go well together but who knows. => Can remove tape to see if plant is root bound.
Growing in premium quality (hopefully) Coco Coir.
All sprouted today (Mon, 10th of February 2020)
Usually I don't feed for the 1st week but I gave Canna Start a try (at 75% of recommended strength)
day 2:
Seedlings have grown pretty dramatically over the past 24hrs.
They are about 4cm high now
It almost seems like they are stretching to get light, so I lowered the lights to about 40cm from light to plant distance
Otherwise plants are seemingly healthy
day 3:
I realized that I actually didn't feed the right amount of canna start 1.5ml/5L instead of 15ml/5L
Don't know what I was thinking lol
So I watered them today at true 75% strength
Accidentally knocked one down while watering (fixed now), hopefully it didn't stress it too much.
Plants are pretty tall (5cm) and thin.
Still not sure if it's due to genetics, not enough light (doubt) or too shallow planting of the seed. But it's not to the point where it's a huge deal.
day 4:
Spotted white tips on 1 plant, not sure what it is. I'm just going to keep an eye on it.
day 7:
Gave first batch of full nutes to plants from GHE Nutrients, will add full details to week 2, not to mix it up with the Canna Start from earlier in the week.
Full feeding on the 7th day (last week)
Everything looking good, trying to keep temps down.
Day 8:
Plants in solo cups will be transplanted as soon as the medium dries a little.
day 10:
transplanted party cup plants to 12.7L pots, watered all plants with nutes
day 15:
This is my first soilless grow, and I made the mistake of using a feeding schedule for soil that has nutrients already inside.
All plants are lime green (nitrogen deficiency)
and some plants have brown/gray spots/dots (nitrogen or calcium deficiency)
Watered them with a lot of nutrients to try to solve the problem.
After a whole bunch of deficiencies and problems, (first time growing in coco), I decided to switch to CANNA Coco nutrients, and since then they have been doing well.
I experimented with mainlining and FIMing for the first time, however due to plant stress and not enough time, the full potential of these techniques will not be reached.
While mainlining I also accidentally broke off one of the young and fragile branches lol
I also have a slight fungus gnat issue, which I will try to solve with neem oil and yellow fly traps.
Otherwise plants seem healthy
Flower Day 2: More Low Stress Training (probably the last)
Flower Day 8:
Start of 2nd week of flower, looking good
Flower Day 9:
Nice and healthy, LST again
Flower Day 11:
At this point I wish I had a scrog net, I'll make sure to get one at some point.
Moved them from 3x3 into larger 4x4.
Still doing well. Gave center plant a little bit of LST as it was stretching a lot.
Flower Day 21: Looking great, Buds are starting to take shape. I lollipopped the plants, making sure to remove small branches that wouldn't produce proper buds.
Flower Day 22:
I noticed my wires for low stress training were starting to cut into the branches themselves (see pictures), One branch even started growing around it.
I guess that's a lesson not to leave gardening wire on for too long. 🙂
I defoliated one plant because it was very bushy. They're looking great, can't wait to see the fruits that will develope on these beauties
I also put a fly trap down on top of the soil, to keep fungus gnats at bay.
Flower Day 24:
I used some thick and soft gardening wire to spread out the branches again. A scrog net would be much better, but I currently don't have one. At this point branches are very hard and prone to snapping, so you have to be very careful repositioning them.
Flower Day 28:
The fly traps on top of soil already have a ton of fungus gnats, so I put some more traps down.
I'm really happy with how these ladies are doing. The buds are very thick, dense and frosty
I might let them flower a little longer than the breeder recommends but we'll see.
