So i asked GD if i could make this diary for my pepper plant and they kindly said yes. Thanks for that :)
Before this i was adding updates for the pepper plant in with my other diaries but it was confusing... so here we are.
Ive added some photos of the cayenne peppers from my last harvest and i think i got about 100 or more full sized peppers overall.
Most are ripening up and turning red but i saved a lot of green ones too.
the green ones are less spicy but not as sweet as the red ones so its nice to have a variety from different stages of ripeness. And a lot of people say that Green means go! and while picking the peppers when they are green an unripe may force the plant to grow more peppers overall the nutrient or vitamin content of that green pepper will be around 8x lower than that of a red or fully ripe pepper. Now although my peppers were green/purple/red when ripening other peppers could be yellow/purple/red/orange or even brown but yeah fully ripe is the way to go! People eat way too much garbage food nowadays and they feel awful! get some vitamins in your life along with your medical weed of course!
So i decided to show everyone how easy it is to use up the extra space in your grow room. you can grow fruits, vegetables and herbs while using up that extra space and making the most out of your indoor garden.
certain plants may be bad for your garden and attract nasty insects (i dont have this problem) but some can also be good for your weed plants and keep bugs away or be beneficial in other ways so make sure to look that up on your preferred search engine if you get a chance, i believe its called Companion Planting.
Anyways on to the grow!
Ive planted a 1.5 Gallon pot of Devils Brew Pepper and 2 tiny terracotta seedling pots.
A 1-3 gallon is a good size if your planning to start in final containers and i reccommend this just to avoid transplanting, it seems unnecessary to me.
My last grow i just used the Canna and Vitalink nutrients i use for my weed on the cayenne pepper plant and it grew fine, i didnt take good care of it and it stopped growing entirely for a while but once i started caring for it again at the end of its veg period it started flowering and made a ton of peppers. So anything containing Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, Calcium and Magnesium should grow a good pepper, Although Organic nutrients are the best way to go for anything that will be consumed.
take a look at online guides and video tutorials too, theres a ton of good information out there to help you grow better.
My grow light is a total of 600W, you could use a less powerful light or any kind. its your choice, also height of your grow light is a really important factor in the correct growth and health of your plant.
Im using Biobizz light mix which is soiless - great for the peppers as they like a PH of 5.8 i believe.
Day temp
25C
Night temp 20C
Temperature is usually kept high for chilli peppers (around 29C i think) along with a high concentration of intense light. this is why it is hard to source any variety of good fresh pepper. Only basic cayenne, jalapeno and that kind of thing are commonly sold.
My Cayenne Pepper took quite a long time to grow but grew fine with a max temp of 25c.
Finally about the peppers i chose - These are devils brew peppers and they are supposed to be very hot and all different colours, it could take a while to grow but il keep making updates so get yourselves going and plant something to keep your weed company! :)
Peace!
DAY 7 - 21/02/20
So my devils brew pepper sprouted in the big pot and I think I’m gonna scrap the 2 tiny terracotta pots, they’re a nightmare and I just don’t have the time or strength to be caring for so many plants as much as I love them haha.
I’m quite happy with the devils brew pepper as it has germinated after 1 week compared to the cayenne pepper last time took 5 weeks to germinate.
I took some photos of the cayenne peppers from last grow as they are continuing to ripen up and dry around my house :) it’s surprising that the peppers on the plant while under intense light stay very dark in color even as they ripen up.
The peppers that were harvested from the plant early before they were ripe have ripened up with minimal room light and have developed lovely candy colors. They actually look like some sort of candy cane which looks beautiful!
Finally I mentioned a recipe which I cooked tonight and it’s not so much of a recipe just simple cooking...
So I made some chilli mince with fried chips -
Serves 2:
You will need:
Fresh potatoes - Roughly 6 potatoes.
low fat steak mince - 250g.
Half an onion - diced up.
Sweet chilli sauce - I think it’s dragon brand but any good chilli sauce will do.
A few chillis - about 2-3 or you can use hot chilli sauce if you haven’t grown any chillis yet and still want to try it out!
A small bowl of grated cheese. (optional)
COOKING THE CHIPS:
Blanch the chips if you want (I find this is better but not necessary)
Fry your chips in the deep fryer while you cook the mince, they should be done at the same time.
COOKING THE MINCE:
I heated up a pan with a touch of oil and browned the mince.
drained the fat out well and then back into the pan with your onion and the chilli (if using chilli sauce instead add it later)
Cook almost fully then add enough sweet chilli sauce so it’s saucy and a little salt (add your chilli sauce now too if not using fresh/dried chillis)
Once the mince is fully cooked take it off the heat and drain your fried chips.
Add chips to the plate along with cheese if you like and then put your mince on top and there you go, nice spicy well cooked homemade dinner with mostly fresh ingredients :)
if you do use Fresh chillis there will be so much nutrients in your meal and damn it tastes good!
Anyways I highly recommend trying this at least once and I hope someone enjoyed it! Let me know in the comments folks :)
😜not yet, but it's coming..
For sure some kind of peppers and tomatoes...
Thx 4 the recipe!!
Have a good one and good luck for your Veggie-Projects😜✌️✌️
I already have the seeds for the peppers since a couple of weeks now. But I'm planning to grow mine simultaneously with my next growth which will start in two weeks from now.
So are you planning on smoking them 😅 I bet they will be smoking hot, with some peppery scent to it :D
