Welcome to a new diary, this time i'm running a Royal Queen Seeds strain, Royal Gorilla Automatic. I'm running this complete grow with RQS fertilizer, the tabs for watering (easy combo) and the pallets you mix in the soil (easy boost).
Excited about this strain and can't wait to see how they do with premixed fertilizer, I do a single plant in this diary and a separate diary for another 4 Royal Gorilla's which I feed my regular formula.
I started this grow by mixing 50g of Easy Boost with 11 liters of soil, this should last for the whole growth while I will be adding the easy combo tabs during the grow period and also the flower period.
Week 2 for the Gorilla, she is growing very nice and quick, no problems so far, the companions ( red clover, white clover and Alfalfa) have to hurry up :P
I find this grow very relaxing so far, its nice to just feed ph'd water for a change, when she grows a bit taller I will add some of the liquid grow booster that came with this set.
Week 3 and we had an accident 😓 I dropped a tool and broke the plant stem in half.... I fixed the stem with a leave of her as a band-aid, after 3 days she recovered and is now back growing at a normal rate, that was a close call almost turned this into a topped plant by accident 😋
She grows nice, I will feed her another half tablet of the growth booster this coming week and I guess shortly she should start flowering. So far this plant grows very nice and even the stress put on her by accident didn't face her at all, she just grows and grows 💪
The companions gained some size as well, the premix in the soil really seems to feed well judging by the growth rate overall.
Week 4 for the Royal Gorilla Automatic, she recovered super quick from the damage to the stem that happend a while ago, the crack is filled in with new plant material under the leaf wrap, removed the wrap 2 days ago.
The structure of the plant is beautiful now and she is ready to flower, just a matter of time and she will start. I fed her another half of the growth booster, other than that I will just feed her PH'd water every 2-3 days.
I guess in a week or so she will start to flower and then we switch nutrients to the Bloom boost by RQS.
She is flowering beautifully, and she stretched since last time. The structure of the plant is very nice, no training need at all, the tops are all nice and balanced.
Feeding her just ph'd water at 6.5 and every second feed I give her some of the RQS Bloom Booster to help her flower.
The stem injury is completely fine by now (check weeks before to see pictures) and she grows as she should.
Will increase the Bloom Booster feeding next week and see how she does.
The Companions are growing nice and steady as well and might help to improve the soil a bit.
Week 6 for the Royal Gorilla. She grows very nice, still went a bit taller since last time. She has some beautiful purple/red looking hair on her right now.
I used most of the booster and will continue to feed ph'd water mostly till the last batch of booster is gone, then the plant should finish nicely with what is left in the soil.
The plant is beautiful in symmetry, the cracked stem balanched her for sure as I did no training other than my normal leaf removal here and there.
From next week on we should see some proper buds on that Gorilla 💪
Week 7, we are coming closer to the finish line of this grow. I'm out of Bloom booster so it will be Ph'd water only. She finished her growth cycle very nice and turned into a beautiful plant.
Yesterday I gave her the last trim before the final stage, removed some small branches and leaves that are not useful to focus the energy all to the main colas.
I can tell that she is bigger than the same strain without soil feed and just organic fertilizer which means that the Easy Boost Organic Nutrients really work in the soil.
From here to harvest it will be just tap water at PH 6.0 - 6.5 and that should be it. 👌
Week 8, coming closer to the end, buds are forming, still have a while to go but they are on the way.
Feeding just PH'D water every 2-3 days, other than hat everything is ok, I remove leaves that start to turn yellow and keep the plant clean and ventilated.
Week 9 in this grow, we are coming to the finish line, I am just feeding water still and the colors of the plant start to fade slowly. The nutrients in the soil seem to be slowly running out and the plant gets flushed with a few liters of water every 3 days.
Depending on the speed that she finished up with harvest could be next week. I just remove some leaves here and there but other than that there is not much to do till harvest.
Surprised by the low level of smell so far, pretty stealth this plant when it comes to smells, lets see if that changes in the last few weeks.
A great autoflowering strain from RQS, growth and genetics were on point here. I'm gonna finish this reviews as soon as the product is dried and cured.
So here we are, the end of another exciting diary. We went from cracked main stem, which I thought was the end of the grow, to a beautiful balanced and healthy autoflower.
Overall there were no problems during the grow, the nutrients worked as they should, the support the plant got from the organic nutrients was just perfect, the only thing I would have liked would be a few more booster tabs, other than that the nutrients supplied by RQS worked well.
The Royal Gorilla Auto is quick, she finished on time and came in at 682 grams wet weight which is good for an autoflower in a pot that size running soil.
Stem structure of this strain is very nice, all of the plants I have grown of this strain grew nice and sturdy, easily holding the weight of the flowers.
I will update this diary with a proper smoke report and dry weight numbers when the plant is cured 🙌
@Crazyweedpt, thanks a lot mate ! excited to see the results, still considering running one in Hydro 😃 would love to see how by they can get ! Good luck with your Cookies 💪
Gorilla Automatic is on my to buy list for sure! But dang, do I want one of those RQS fabric pots.
I've got two questions for you regarding your growth(s):
- How do you like the fabric pots of RQS: Would you buy them again, and do you like the 11L or do you regret not having bought the 15L type (for indoor grows)?
- Regarding the companion plants, any rationale behind those?
@TheBelgian, they sent those pots to me with the whole grow pack, I didn't chose the pot but I like it, the quality is much better than other brands, sure higher quality.
The companions just went in because I had some seeds left over for fun, they not gonna grow much in that short time, maybe help with the soil a bit but I have them outside in the garden next to some CBD photo plants, there I have the full set from RQS, we get a lot of pests here so I need the full defense in the organic garden. Also some of them enrich the soil and support the growth overall.
Hi good luck man.
And she's a great performer.
The Gorilla From RQS.
Finished one 1 month ago.
And fell in love have a few more in now.
Good luck with your grow.
Happy Growing
Hello big congratulations for the contest, for the photos and for super beautiful plants, can I know what that herb you let grow in the pot? Does it keep flies and problems away?
@frenchysmoker, no I didn't do any topping. If you go back to the veg stage you can see I had a cracked main stem because my tool fell right on the plant, the half cracked stem grew slower then the rest, so it gave it a bit of balance at least for a week then the main stem was back to full production 💪
Geez you've got some impressive stuff going on. I'm getting quite envious of all the techniques and resources you have on display in your diaries - greenhouse, indoor (dwc/dirt) organic. This project in particular is super interesting to me. Thanks for sharing 👍
@stunflower, thanks a lot, appreciate the feedback, helps me to know what to change 🙏 I like doing many different things at the same time, saying that I just started a DR. Grinspoon today :P and 2 more photo periods so 3 new photo diaries coming soon 👍
Thanks for sharing this @Pot_Portraits! Very informative, love the companion crow as well as the comparing to the other 3 grows! Super cool! It looks like the RQS feed worked really well, just from the pictures that plant looks beefier and much fuller. That plant looks like the other three's personal trainer. I dont know if it was the RQS booster, the companion planting of the breaking of the stem but I'm gonna try all three for my next grow!
