@ganjaman94, it's one of those things that has never been proven or disproven. I like to give it 24 hours of darkness before the final chop but it's personal preference. I'd also try and chop when the pot is dry and definitely have a trim up of the main fan leafs and larger leafs before chopping (a lot easier then when it's upside down)

@the_connoisseur420, thanks bro, have you ever tried doing it to 1 plant and leaving another of the same plant without a dark period at the same time to be able to compare a difference? i think i will probably give it a try, i just have nothing to compare it to.. i have 3 of the same strain going on my second diary though so i may try and compare it on them to see if there is much difference. some one also recommended i stake the bottom of her. dont think i will be trying that though. and thanks for the advice man, thats what my intentions were to be honest, i think because of her size though i will be hanging her by individual branches, so i will probably cut a branch at a time, tidy it up and then hang and move on to the next one. going to be using the trim and popcorn from this one for making some bubble hash so i will upload some pictures of that when its done

@ganjaman94, I have done 48Hour Darkouts for anything part of the white Family with great success for years. My White a widow and White cheese especially. Always adds a layer of resin like no other nutrient or technique can. But to be safe a 24hr will likely add some frost. Just make sure to give one last flush of water about a day before. That way it’s not to wet while they are dark. I also keep it 75 degrees @ 55% humidity with a heater/Humidifier while dark to keep perfect conditions for low stress but high nutrient absorbing.

@Lucky777, thanks man I appreciate your thoughts on this, however I seen a point made about this subject a couple days ago that's had me thinking, does the dark period help with the maturity of trichome? Or does it just increase trichome production? As ask this because the point made that's been playing on my mind was as follows "Why would you want to spend time trying to gain more trichome by the dark period when you have waited so long for it to be ready and then your adding newly developed/unready trichome by adding the dark period and then harvesting before the new trichome mature" so as you can now imagine I am having second thoughts about the dark period

@ganjaman94, I've pretty much always done a dark period no more than 24 hours although some people go for 48 hours. It's just personal preference and personally I think it helps to dry it out until the soil is almost bone dry and about to wilt so another 24 hours if nothing else allows it time to dry. Look forward to seeing bubble hash run :) I used to used to use the bubble bags but felt it took away all the flavour so switched to dry sifting through a series of screens to achieve close to full melt hash...yummy!

@the_connoisseur420, fair enough man does the dark period do anything to help the trichomes mature though or does it just increase more trichome production? To be honest man I have never really noticed it myself.. I have always been quite fond of the taste.. And the warming tingly sensation you get in your face when its smoked 👌 I am quite interested to try the dry sifting method for it though, do you use dry ice mate? A friend of mine has offerd me a bho shatter extraction kit (I think that's what its called anyway) so if I get my hands on some dry sift screans then I am going to attempt to try and make my own moonrocks mate

@ganjaman94,not exactly sure of the science behind it but if it isn't broken and certainly doesn't harm it then I tend not to change it. Yeah I went through a phase of bubble hash and don't get me wrong it always got me high just found it lost a little on the flavour. Never made any shatter and try to stay clear of any chemical extraction although it looks so bloody clean and yummy! Rosin is nice but always breaks my heart squashing lovely buds. Dry sifting is so simple and all you need is a couple of screens off eBay which are about £5-10 each and i use a box to shake it in which is around £15-20 best flavour and super strong 😃

@the_connoisseur420, aha i cant argue with that i guess man! fair enough, your probably right man, i smoke so much i can hardly taste it any more, and i can hardly smell anything.. think i may need tolerance break.. or to just cut the tobacco out, hopefully one of them will work! i would normally agree man but after trying the shatter it kind of swayed me more towards giving it ago.. i am sceptical as it can be a dangerous process i guess but i figured if i spend enough time learning about it all and then doing it the first time round with someone that knows what they are doing then it should turn out alright. with the rosin i haven't been able to convince myself to try it, i have seen a lot of people doing it with hair straighteners, but looks like you get so little return from it that its not really worth the hassle, if i had access to a proper press i'd be more convinced i think. thanks man i will have a look on there this afternoon, if i can find them i might order some tonight for sure

@ganjaman94, I do hear your point about having new trichome production vs. mature trichomes. But one thing to consider is that you already put the time and effort to get a lot of mature trichomes on this beauty, so getting it frostier just makes your Buds look that much danker 😉 I think I'm gonna give it a try on my next harvest just to see if it's really hype!

@BudKingsGrow, that is a good point i guess, i think i am going to give it ago man,i am giving her the last watering of the flush today so during the last day or two of the soil drying before i pull her i will probably keep the light off.. and will post before and after pictures to see how much of a difference it makes.. the guy who commented on the message you replied to has done this strain too man and his already looks so much frostier then mine, slight envious aha.. worth checking out though man just in case you need a bit more convincing

@ganjaman94, You weren't kidding about @the_connoisseur420 His PC is very frosty! But I think yours might have larger Buds (Its always hard to tell exactly from pics). Either way, You're both rocking it and I'm even more convinced 😉

@Fun_Growin, yes dude, she is probably going to be one of my favorite too if i am honest, cant wait to run this strain again in the future, im am so excited to see how she finishes off over the next few weeks, and even more excited to try her, she smells amazing and is so sticky
