I plan to put everything I know in this diary , every little step once and for all - if you have a question ... ASK 1) Take the propagator give it a thorough wash I did it with bleach spray just to make sure 2) Soak the root it cubes in your solution of katana roots and Shogun start at the levels I’ve put 3) taking a number 6.5 drillbit use this to make a hole in the top of the root it cube ( Or widen the hole that’s already there) 4) take your seeds and drop them into the hole ,obviously one in each hole. 5) rip a corner off the root it cube and cover the hole 6) put the top on the propagator and then put this on top of the reptile mat then cover the whole thing,so the seeds are in the dark. Wait 48 hrs and check , DONT TOUCH THEM FOR 48 hrs !!! I often have seeds that germinate upside down and need help . Day 1 is Tuesday 25 /2/20 0000Hrs seeds went in . The ONLY ph and EC testers I recommend are above , store the ph tester to prolong life in water to fill level. You will not grow decent weed with $10 Chinese ph/EC testers , they will work perfectly for a while , but when they fail , you will not notice DWC GOLDEN BDK RULE = you can always put in but never take out...... making solutions is a dirty and wet business, filling with exact amounts of nutrients is only possible with syringes ... i have a various assortment from 1ml ( for PH down ) to 100ml needles are blunt . I use inkbird controllers for the environment, you set a parameter for example Temperature 23C then set the tolerance say 3C and then at over 26C it will turn the fan on, and under 20C it will turn the heater on.Temperature and humidity are 2 separate modules. All fans/heaters are plug connections. Okay what are we trying to do here , we need to seeds to germinate and grow some really healthy roots as these are the key to big growth and healthy plants. The next part of the diary we will address how to put them in the pots to maximise the yields ,there are some very important aspects that we need to cover. Thursday 27/2/20 1000 - checked seeds , 2 have sprouted , I have put them on window sill with mat underneath, dripped 10ml of solution on each cube. Thursday 27/2/20 2300 - 3 are up , I had a little look in the middle 👀 and broke th3 tap root , so that one aint going anywhere , I’m not touching the other 2 , fingers crossed 🤞 I’ll see another one by morning 😜 Friday 28/2/20 1000 they still were not up , so I CAREFULLY checked under the top , and realised 2 of them were upside down , I CAREFULLY pulled the cubes open and CAREFULLY adjusted , if you break the tap root you are fucked , proper Fucked so be a CAREFUL ... put under the spiderfarmer SF1000 - @15000 lux 18/6 THIS IS THE BEST VEG LED I HAVE EVER TESTED Keep the top on the propagator to improve humidity - they like humidity in the first stage. Saturday 29/2/20 1000 one needed a little help to split the top leaf, should be ok now...

I don't even use those lids anymore once the seedling pops up. The longer you leave the lid on the longer it seems to take the seedling to adjust to the environment. Sometimes my seedlings cotelydons curl down for a day or so if humidity is low but they adjust fast. They seem to shock more if you keep them in a dome.

Monday Day 7 - into the starter DWC pots took a few pics of a water droplet on a tiny leaf... So we go into the net pots , place the root it cube at bottom touching bottom of net pot , this minimises the distance the roots have to travel into the reservoir , I also cover the top of the outside of net pot to prevent light leaks as you can’t fill to top ( yet ) with pebbles until the top of plant 🌱 over lip . This starter DWC was hom3 made out of a tool box £1 from Poundland , air pump and air stones , it holds 5 litres of solution , cut two holes with 127 mm hole cutter I used 20ml of last weeks solution , dripped through top so they didn’t dry out on each This week is all about roots , and getting them into the reservoir as quick as possible. Light should be kept around 15,000 lux Wednesday 4/3/20 - looking ok 👍 Friday 6/3/20 - took a picture There are some important things that you need to remember with the DEep water culture (DWC) , 1) no light into the reservoir - root rot will occur 2) never let the net pot touch the top of reservoir solution 💦 3) Air pump must be on continuously 4) Water level must be checked daily with ph and EC 5) Change reservoir weekly 6) be prepared get ph down and small bottle of up ( in case of fuckups with down ) - I mix 1ml ph down to 6 litres of water 7) if you use Silicon it raises the ph 8) You can ALWAYS put in but never take out , go easy 9) DWC is the purest form of growing , don’t contaminate with outside sources , I went and saw a friend with thrips and guess what ? I GOT THRIPS -👀
