All good this week with some glowing buds in formation and a nice aroma even though has long way to go before it starts to get really stinky. Plant looks very promising, sticky and covered in trichomes just as expected with these new Barneys farm releases.
Since that heatwave 2 weeks ago we saw the appearance of some few bugs of some sort, a thrips with its babies crawling around the leaves, some spidermites and fungus gnats which have all (or at least most) been taken cared of with some organic spray, yellow tapes, drying of soil, manual squeeze of this mofos and leaf removals with eggs or damage. Good thing is the buds are growing normally and as mentioned before, looking like proper buds, dense and covered in trichomes.
Another thing is that the stem where one of the toppings took place just split open in half thankfully without any harm to the development so it was taped and fixed and continues her journey.
Thank you Captain. Yes man indeed interesting with the mainlining technique as its my first time using this so hopefully we get to try some dense heavy buds and some more yield than previous grows... xxx
@JakeTheGrower2024, indeed...tbh there was one guy here with a diary who managed to get a very nice yielding plant with some big fat and tall colas full of buds on each stem so i guess with everything in order such as temperature (roots and plant) enough light and some techniques here and there you will get a very nice looking plant and also a very potent one so i guess its a good choice, Barneys seems to be doing a good job, out of 5 strains i tried all where descend and pleasure to look and smoke :) as for the yield...hmm I probably not the right guy to ask for yields as all my grows were heat stressed so i belive i got reduced yields. For this banana one though i managed to get around 50 dried grams, all dense and packed buds due to main lining technique but im sure with a proper 24c degrees things would have been a lot different than the 35c-40c range that I grew with. And cause of that i had to use a 250w light instead of my 400w so yields were low but quality is high, looks are fine, high is fine :) xxx
@SmokinGas, thanks for your comment but since this strain was grown in approx 35c - 40c and cured at around 30c i have the belief that terpenes and flavonoids are diminished to an extend but despite the fact, still a very descend smoke.. tbh i cannot taste or smell any skunkyness to it other that a bit of spice pungent taste to it. For skunky types i would go for maybe an afghan cross or something even though im not an expert yet to tell which is which since we grew up smoking ilegally with little information of what we actually was smoking to know what is what....now im thinking of adding some pure landrace strains of new generation with some of them being very fast to flowering to my grows just to explore what was there before in the 80s 90s and just see what is what and where it all began etc etc :)
Shit man, i remember my a few grows back I got hit by spider mites super bad. It's always such a bummer when you are already in flower since there is little to nothing you can do but hope and pray. One thing I have started to do with all my grows now introduces ladybugs into my grow space. They are an apex predator of those little shits. Another tactic I used was dumping my whole plant facefirst into freezing cold water. The plastic bag around the pot, pull it tight in every direction so there is no soil sillage. Fill up your bathtub with freezing cold water and plunge the plants for a bit. I did not harm to my buds and I did this every day for a week before I flushed my plants. I was able to reduce the infestation. All the best dude!
P.S if you can check out my plants, I got a Tropicana banana going right now too.
@FarmerNussi, hey man thanks for the interest and tips but it wasn't a big infection so everything looks clear now...heard about the cold water before but hopefully will not need this and bastards are gone for good...xxx
