Second try with all organic gorilla zkittlez. This time I started one off in a equal part coir (well rinsed and buffered), perlite (rinsed) and EWC. I also added a decent amount of oyster shell flour to the mix. I put her in with my others and she QUICKLY surpassed plants that were 3 weeks older. No yellowing, no wilt, quick growth. All under the same 26W of CFL and 10W of incandescent until veg.
This week will include the germination, seedling and week 1 vegetative growth stages since there is no "germination" or "seedling" categories.
After 2.5 weeks she went into my ROLS under the LEDs.
"Soil" consists of the following:
3 gallons rinsed and buffered coir
3 gallons rinsed perlite
3 gallons EWC
1 gallon inoculated biochar
basalt rock dust
glacial rock dust
gypsum
oyster shell flour
kelp meal
crab meal
alfalfa meal
malted barley powder
neem seed meal
Karanja meal
About the grow area:
2x4 veg tent with insulated walls
4x4 flower tent with insulated walls
Air is exchanged between the veg and flower tents 24/7
The veg tent has 1x 1'x2' diy Samsung F-Series LED w/ 4x 2' strips running at 10w each w/ 1x 2' 24w FS+UV tube in the middle (about 64 watts total for 2 square feet).
The fixture is 4000K.
18/6 in the summer and 24/0 in the winter.
Heater and humidifier are in the veg tent. CO2 pumps into veg tent if needed. This keeps the veg tent warmer and more humid with more co2.
I also have some CFLs that I keep on 24/7 in the winter to get the heat up and/or for seedlings/clones/mothers.
The flower tent has 2x 1'x2' diy Samsung F-Series LED w/ 4x 2' strips running at 19w each w/ 1x 2' 24w FS+UV tube in the middle (about 100 watts total for 2 square feet).
One fixture is 3500K and one fixture is 3000K
12/12
Water-cooler dehumidifier and A/C are in the flower room. Condensate pump pumps outside to a 5 gal bucket which I empty once a week. This keeps the flower tent cooler and dryer.
The ceiling is not insulated in the flower tent.
Environment is controlled via an Arduino and solid state relays based on the outside conditions and flower tent conditions. The system is open and uses outside air if it's right, otherwise the system "seals" (as much as a tent can) and uses the air conditioning devices.
So far the flower tent is rock solid steady and the veg tent is hotter and more humid almost all the time.
Been in veg for a week and is really starting to grow now. I might have had a magnesium deficiency, but I foliared with 1 tbsp Epsom+RO. She still looks like she could have a deficiency with the lights on, but better with the lights off. Maybe it's a light issue. Regardless, I'll be watching her and may foliar with Epsom again in week 3. Planning to veg for 5 weeks and flower for 10 or less.
Growth looks good. I still see what looks like a magnesium deficiency, but my eye isn't the best for this. I also see some holes chewed so I sprayed with Epsom + azamax and some potassium silicate as an emulsifier. If I see any more pest damage I'll dust the leaves and the tents with DE.
Mg deficiency still looked ongoing so I watered with fish emulsions and calmag. I also modified my RO so it's mixing with a small amount of tap to get to 80ppm (from 10). I would use my tap alone, but my ppm is 600+, so that won't work.
I saw a fungus gnat on a leaf and at least one larvae in the soil so I dusted with DE. I'll be laying sticky traps and adding some hydroton to the surface (dusted with DE) and watering in some mosquito dunks if the DE alone doesn't help.
I raised my LEDs an additional 3", to 12" above the canopy to reduce any additional stressors.
Growth looks good. The Mg deficiency seems to be clearing up. Will keep watering with light calmag this run and modify my mix for next run.
She's really bushing out from the FIM. New growth has no more of that mag deficiency. I think adding some tap water to the RO has helped.
She's real low, I need to get some stretch on the next round for this mulch, or find something else... maybe I'll just plant it higher in the final pot and let the roots do their thing.
Took 2 clones today and put them in little 3oz cups of coir soaked with ful power, coconut water powder, aloe x200 powder, recharge and a little cal mag. I watered the donor with this solution after wards.
Still have gnats so I put up a sticky trap and it seems to be controlling them. If It gets any worse I'll powder more with DE, add another trap, water in some mosquito dunk and add more mulch.
Gnats are under control... pretty much gone. Growing FAST. I'm gonna have to do something to keep her at the size I want.
She was starting to get a bit tall, so I topped her, massaged her main stem to break up the walls and let her flop over and removed some of the small junk under her skirt. She bounced right back. I like this one so far.
She's growing fast. I trimmed the lowest 4 branches... the ones without the "balloons" where the main stem branches... the ones that will make larf.
I completely neglected the clones by leaving their domes off for 24 hours on day 2! LMAO. They were LIMP! I trimmed them up some more, sprayed them and their domes with RO, recovered and put back. 1 day later they were popped back up and looking good.
Week 5 looks good. No real updates yet.
Clones look good, no roots yet though.
Stalks are real "bendy"... I'll foliar with some agsil-16h for some increased silica and some Epsom to try and prevent a later magnesium deficiency.
Gave her a foliar w/ 1/2 tsp/gal agsil 16h and 1 tsp/gal Epsom. didn't see any fliers, so that's good. i'll dust with DE again tomorrow and water in some mosquito dunk into the top when I put her in flower Saturday and then add a good layer of DE again... it does seem to be working (with a sticky trap). I'll also defoliate the low larf tomorrow, which should help.
She looks like she'll fill the intended 2'x1' screen nicely.
1st week of flower. The stretch is on.
I threw the 1' x 2' screen on top of her and spread her out a bit and threw her under the 3500K LEDs. I may have damaged one of the top nodes as I did a hst training before I put her under the screen. It might pull through... not really concerned.
I also watered with some bti and added a new sticky trap...
Will be top dressing with a EWC, Karanja and mbp mix watered in w/ some recharge and maybe some Epsom as she really wants the magnesium.
Damaged node recovered fine. Growing good.
This is her second week since the start of 12/12. This week I'll be focusing on defoliation under the screen. This will be the last week I'll be pruning. I'll be taking just a bit off each day until Saturday (the start of her 3rd week).
Not much stretch yet.
Screen's almost full. Looking real good. Gnats seem all but eliminated and I'll water with some more bti this week.
Pistols are starting to show up more. She looks real healthy. I'll foliar with Epsom tonight as I foresee a Mg deficiency soon.
Today's the last day of week 2. Tonight I'll finish the trim under the screen although I got most everything already, water with bti and foliar with Epsom. Then it's pretty much hands off everything above the screen from now on.
Everything's growing well.
Still have gnats, but they are dwindling.
No more training as I'm in week 3 now. Just let her grow up through the screen and make some fatties.
Trying to keep the lights at 10" away... will have to raise lights daily until vertical growth stops.
This grow has been nothing but water so far (and some foliar sprays). Only problem I've had is a mag deficiency which is cleared up. Will be top dressing with sul-po-mag at end of week 5 for second phase of flowering as well... should help.
Today is the last day of week 3. Not much happened. Stretch was almost nothing. I let the lights get as close as 6" away... no ill effects so I'm leaving them at that height.
Week 4 of flower started off without a hitch.
I keep seeing less and less gnats on my traps so I'll continue to water with bti weekly.
Keeping the lights close and I don't see any heat or light damage. Hairs are all white and "fluffy", even the ones near the UV.
Dropping the day temp by 1 degree and night temp 2 degrees.
Scratch that... day temp stays at 29*C and night temps are now 20*C
Starting to smell quite fruity. Buds are starting to thicken up.
I can tell my soil mix wasn't optimal as I'm getting such an early fade... plus all the mag deficiencies earlier in the grow.
I have her sister growing in veg in another soil mix and is growing much faster and hasn't had any mag deficiencies.

I had an episode this weekend and wasn't able to update as I wanted to, but all seems well. Gnat population isn't growing but I'll keep watering with bti every weekend.
Week 6 is going well. Really starting to fade and stiiiiiiiink. Smells like spicy berries.
No more gnats in flower tent...
Added some EWC, MBP and sul-po-mag under the blumat drippers. Should be the last top dress.
Aside from plucking yellow leaves that are ready to come off... it's hands off until harvest now.
Getting closer to harvest. Not the fastest or largest grow, but doing okay. Better soil would have made this grow kick ass... we'll see how it does for a clone of this plant in some new super soil.
Buds are getting dense, leaves are yellowing, no more gnats, my garage stinks... all gravy. Hoping they will start to thicken up nicely this week.
Buds are very dense and sticky. Not exceptionally smelly, but if you brush up against one then the stink is released.
Growth was slow in flower and not much stretch. Buds are small, but look real good.
This plant's sister is doing much better than this one did. I don't think it's the pheno, but the soil. I have another clone of this plant in veg, so we'll see how much a better soil mix does.
"Last week" of flower. I might give them some more time under the lights after this as I don't see many ambers yet.
They did bulk up a bit last week. My soil mix was no good and I had nutrient deficiencies throughout the whole run.
This will be the last week for this one. I may end it half way through the week if they start to amber.
Smell is good, super dense, real sticky, lots of trichs.
I have a clone of her going well in veg right now and looking forward to see what she can do with the right soil.
@Belverde, thanks! This will be my first indoor all organic grow. My last outdoor grow was bruce banner and was all organic. Despite a nasty infestation of spider mites and then bud worms and being grown in some "less than ideal" soil, the taste and high were amazing.
You have some amazing grows going on there. Good luck to you.
Fungus gnat tip. Mix 1part hydrogen peroxide with 4 parts PH’ed water. It will kill the larva of the gnats and is a good supplement to help get air into your roots. You’ll need to use some neem or something to get rid of the adults and make sure they don’t come back but you’ll definitely notice a reduction in the gnats with this tip. Garden looks great man. 🤙
@ZJRDUDEZ, Thanks!
While H2O2 is fine for chemical grows, this is an all organic grow using recycled organic living soil and peroxide kills the bacteria needed to provide nutrients to the plant.
In this case I've been watering with R/O with mosquito dunk pieces (bti), adding sticky traps and dusting with DE. I also top dress with neem in veg and Karanja in flower. They are almost gone and I feel they'll be eradicated after another bti watering.
It seems the bti is taking care of the larvae very well and the sticky traps take care of the adults. I'm not sure if the DE is actually working, but I'll keep using it this round. Next round I'll be adding bti pieces to the soil, watering with bti, using no mulch in veg (to keep the top part of the soil dryer), top dressing with neem/Karanja and dusting with DE and adding sticky traps. I'll be adding the mulch in flower.
@Chronicbastard, Thanks! If I find the time to completely eradicate these gnats I may get buds as nice as yours! I almost got them all with just the DE so far.
Interesting setup!
Looking good! ☀️
I recently harvested three Gorilla Zkittlez, vey beautiful plants, sweet sweet smell, lovely purple color towards the end and massive crystals! 😁💚
Have fun with your grow! 🍀
