Hello Diary.
Here is a two new diaries. Lots of new challenges this time for me. The first time I plant feminized seeds, I will use organic nutrients from RQS. Also, I will replace my airpots with fabric pots.
Let's start from the beginning.
Why Somango XL?
When I choose the strain for the next planting, the main category is that I would like it to be sativa. Since I am also a daytime smoker, I do creative work, and I want my smoke to help me and stimulate me to work. I have to be productive. But in the evening, when I finish all my business and personal responsibilities, with hanging out with my wife or watching a movie, indica is more appropriate. The other parameter is the height, since my Box is 120x60x180, the light should be 35-40 cm from the plants, the height of 100cm is the maximum for my conditions, and somango, with its height of 60-100 cm, fits perfectly.
The effect of the high comes on very quickly and it brings about a calming feeling of peaceful clarity. The high is very strong and can last for several hours as it is 18% THC. It is the perfect strain for garnering inspiration for creative endeavors.
It was created by breeding two of the most productive and robust plants available, Somango and Critical 47. This hybrid has been tested on a massive scale .
Somango feminized has a genetic blend of 25% sativa and 75% indica. The dominance of indica is responsible for the fast onset of the high. The plant grows in a very condensed shape while maintaining a sense of beauty and elegance. It reaches a petite maximum of 100 centimeters tall when grown indoors, making it perfect for those who desire a smaller plant. Mature plants have leaves with silky purple hues and buds that are dusted with a fine coat of crystals.
So, this is my set-up:
Box - Secret Jardin DS120W 120x60x178
Lights - MIGRO 200+
Fan - Blauberg Turbo - E 100
Ventilation - Monkey Fan 20W Oscillating
Soil - BIOBIZZ Light - Mix
Small 0.4L for germination and 11L fabric pot
Seed - Royal Queen Seed
21.01.2020.
Planting. After photographing the seeds, I prepared 3 small pots for germination. One for Somango and two for his roommates Mother Gorillas.
After that, I added 1g Easy Roots - Mycorrhiza to each hole where I put the seeds. After that, I soaked everything well with water and put it in the Box.
The light was on for 24 hours, the temperature in the box was about 25 degrees and the humidity was 35-40%.
25.01.2020.
Plant sprouted after 4 days. The day before, I sprayed them a little with water.
29.01.2020. Day 1.
In size and development, this is the first day.
30.01.2020. Day 2.
For the first time, I watered the plant with Easy Grow Booster tablet. I split the pill into three pieces and put it in water to melt. It takes about 3-5 minutes to dissolve the whole tablet in 7 liters of water.
Depending on the water temperature. For start, when the pots are small, I only prepare a third of one tablet in 2 liters of water as I do not need large quantities for watering yet.

That's it for now, I wish the humidity was higher, next week my first plant transplant is waiting for me. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
The big week is behind us. When I say "Us" I mean my wife and me :). We transplanted plants for the first time and I have to admit I was pretty nervous about it, but with the help of my wife, everything went smoothly. I must emphasize that although my wife is not a consumer, she helps me a lot with my whole project.
But let's start from the beginning to see how the week went:
06.02.2020. Day 9.
Transplantation. I transplanted all three plants at the same time. Somango XL and two Mother Gorillas. First, I prepared everything I needed for transplanting: Fabric pots, BioBizz Light Mix, Easy Boost Organic Nutrition, Easy Roots - Mycorrhiza Mix and I prepared water with which to water the plants after transplanting. I prepared 7 lit. of water into which I put one Easy Grow Booster pill. After about 5 min the tablet was melted and the water was ready for use.
First I put the soil in a new fabric pot and added 50g Easy Boost Organic Nutrition in the form of pellets and mixed everything well.
After that I added 4g of Mycorrhiz and also mixed with soil and pellets. After that I made a hole into which I put 1g of Mycorrhize, I removed the plant from a small pot and put the plant in the hole. On this occasion, I saw that the roots had developed quite well in such little time. Most of all thanks to Easy Roots Mycorrhizza Mix.
More specifically, my wife did it, I took pictures and ordered :). After the whole operation, we watered the plant well. It was faster and easier than I imagined.
In the end it was nice to see little Somango in new pot.
09.02.2020. Day 12.
Watering. This time I only watered Somango with water that I had previously lowered p.H. at 6.3 with Plagron's Lemon Kick.
11.02.2020. Day 14.
Photographing and measuring plant height.
SOMANGO XL - Day 14. - 10 cm
Conclusion at the end of the week: Although the transplant seemed complicated to me, with the instructions I watched on grow diaries and read on the RQS blog, everything went great. Adding nutrients is a lot easier for me now. I put the pill on and that's it. What I wish was different is the humidity and temperature of course. I wish it was higher, but given the time of year and the heating in the apartment, I'm super pleased with how the plant are developing. We'll see how they will be in new pots now. Also a new experience for me.
See you next week.
Hello Diary.
Another week is behind me. Overall, the Somango XL develops nicely after transplanting. He is a few inches lower than his roommate, Mother Gorilla. Watering the plants is now much easier with Easy Grow Booster Tablets, after adding the tablet I regulate the p.H. on 6.3 or 6.2 with Plagron's Lemon Kick, and thats it.
This is how it looked this week.
13/02/2020. Day 16.
Watering. I decided not to add the Easy Grow Booster Tablet at every watering. This time I put a tablet and regulated p.H.
16/02/2020. Day 19.
Watering. I didn't put the tablet this time. I just regulated the p.H. at 6.3. At each watering I prepare 7 liters of water in which I put one tablet. I equally pour all three pots with 7 lit.
18/02/2020. Day 21.
Photographing and measuring plant height. Data for grow diaries.
SOMANGO XL - Day 21. - 20 cm
The conclusion at the end of the week is that everything is going well. I wish the humidity and temperature were higher, but for now I don't see anything missing. Nice to see him in the new fabric pot. And for now, I have no problem with watering.
In earlier diaries I took pictures twice a week. This time I decided to take a photo on the last day of the current week. I think this is enough to keep a close eye on the development of the plant.
That's all for this week. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
Last week of vegetation. Given the height, I'm switching to 12/12 light mode tomorrow.
Otherwise, Somango looks good, the branches are much denser than his roommates. On the last day of the week I made my first defoliation, I did not cut too many leaves and branches, so that I can water more beautifully and easily.
But let's see an overview of the week.
19/02/2020. Day 22.
Watering. I prepared the usual 7 liters of water, inserted an Easy Grow Booster tablet, and lowered the p.H. at 6.3 with Plagron's Lemon Kick. With these 7 liters of water, Somango and his two roommates evenly pour.
22/02/2020. Day 25.
Watering. The watering process was the same as three days earlier.
25/02/2020. Day 28.
Watering, I added the Easy Grow Booster tablet one last time, before that I took photos of the plants and made my first defoliation.
They are switching to 12/12 light mode tomorrow.
SOMANGO XL - Day 28 - 30 cm
The vegetation phase is over, the plant is developing beautifully. We'll see what the coming weeks bring. I am uncertain how tall the plants will grow, given that the box height is 178cm, I am quite limited in height. But, we will see.
See you next week.
Hello Diary.
The first week of flowering. I switched the light to 12/12 and now the fun part comes. The branches and leaves on Somango are very bushy, it looks like a small bush. But for now, it’s developing nicely. He is far behind his roommates, Mother Gorillas. They started showing gender too :).
I keep watering every three days, it seems to be optimal considering the conditions, temperature and humidity.
28/02/2020. Day 31.
Watering. This time I put the Easy Bloom Booster tablet for the first time, after which I lowered the p.H. at 6.3 with Plagron's Lemon Kick. I prepare 7 lit. water from which I water all three plants evenly.
02/03/2020. Day 34.
Watering. The watering procedure is the same as it was three days ago.
03/03/2020. Day 35.
Photographing and measuring plant height.
SOMANGO XL - Day 35. - 41 cm
The flowering phase begins, again a new experience for me. 12/12 light mode I use for the first time. Since I have automatic plants in the previous two grows, this is the first time that I am influencing the beginning of flowering with my actions. Cool. See you next week.
Hello Diary.
The second week of flowering is behind me. Somango got really bushy so I decided to do a new defoliation at the end of the week. Everything else is going well. I am a little worried about the height of his roommates, Mother Gorillas, who are much higher than Somango, so I had to raise him with books and pots, to be closer to light. The plants started to be more thirsty than before, so I started watering the plants more often. But nothing extreme, I watered two or three times a day earlier than I used to.
Let's see a quick overview of the week.
04/03/2020. Day 36.
Watering. As a standard, I prepare 7 liters of water, put on Easy Bloom Booster tablets, and after the tablet has dissolved, measure the p.H. of water which in my case is about 7.2 and with Plagron’s Lemon Kick I regulate the p.H. at 6.3, sometimes it happens to be 6.2 or 6.1 but I don't pay much attention to this details. After that I evenly water all three plants in the box.
07/03/2020. Day 39.
Watering. The watering procedure is the same as three days earlier.
10/03/2020. Day 42.
I first photographed the plants, then measured the height and made a new defoliation, and after that I watered the plants. And officially ended Week 6 of the diary :).
Somango looks gorgeous, I think it will go even better after defoliation now. He started throwing flowers so I am looking forward to new motives for photography. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
Third week of flowering. Some leaves started to turn yellow and brown, I think it was due to a lack of Cal Mg. Due to the situation with covid-19 I could not go to the growshop to buy so I hope to be able to resolve this soon. I removed all the affected leaves. Interestingly, I didn’t notice it on his Mother Gorilla roommates even though they are much larger plants. The plant is developing nicely, the flowers are blooming, only now it is already twice smaller than its roommates Mother Gorillas, so I had to raise it to be closer to the light.
The only nutrients that he gets is Easy Bloom Booster tablets.
13/03/2020 Day 45.
Watering. As always, I prepare 7 lit. water in which I put one Easy Bloom Booster tablet and with that amount of water, distribute it evenly on all three plants. p.H. I regulate with Plagron, Lemon Kick.
16/03/2020 Day 48.
Watering. The procedure is the same as three days ago.
17/03/2020 Day 49.
Photography and height measurement. It is now becoming a bit complicated to photograph due to the height of the two Mother Gorillas. I'm going to have to come up with another way to take photos.
SOMANGO XL - Day 49. - 55 cm
The lack of CalMag worries me but there is nothing I can do at the moment, I hope everything will start functioning normally soon. I hope that all is well and that the temptation of the name covid - 19, has passed.
See you soon, stay healthy.
Hello Diary.
Fourth week of flowering. Somango is still struggling with a lack of CalMg, and I still can’t get to the growshop. I remove the larger affected leaves to make it a little easier for him. On his roommates Mother Gorilla, I didn't notice that they lack CalMg even though they are much larger plants and their treatment is the same. The flowers are now bigger and bloom every day. It’s already a big crowd on my small farm now, since this is my first experience with feminized plants, I think I should have at least topped Mother Gorilla, but I didn’t think it would grow that much.
19/03/2020 Day 51.
Watering. By default, I prepare 7 lit. water in which I put one Easy Bloom Booster tablet and distribute that amount of water evenly on all three plants. I use Plagron's Lemon Kick to regulate p.H.
22/03/2020 Day 54.
Watering. The procedure is the same as three days ago.
24/03/2020 Day 56.
Photography and height measurement. There is already quite a crowd in the box and it is difficult to take the plants out for photography, and I would like to photograph the development phase every week, I am afraid I will soon have to figure out a way to photograph them outside the box.
SOMANGO XL - Day 56. - 58 cm
The lack of CalMag still bothers me, I think I will soon be able to get my hands on some CalMg supplement.
See you soon, stay healthy.
Hello Diary.
The fifth week of flowering and there is a real jungle in the box. Somango's roommates, Mother Gorillas, took up almost all the space in the box. So far I haven’t gotten CalMag yet but next week the stores will finally open so I’ll buy. Aside from the lack of CalMag, everything seems to be fine, the scent is getting more intense and the flowers are getting bigger.
Watering is still every three days. Due to the size of the plants in the box, I won’t be able to take the photos as I planned, but I’ve figured out a way, and soon the photos will be even better.
25/03/2020 Day 57.
Watering. By default, I prepare 7 lit. water, I put on an Easy Bloom Booster tablet, I regulate p.H. with Plagron’s Lemon Kick and water all three plants evenly with that amount of water.
28/03/2020 Day 60.
Watering. Same procedure as three days earlier.
31/03/2020 Day 63.
Try taking photos. I’m figuring out some better way to take photos so I took some test shots. I also watered the plants after the photo shoot.
I'm sorry I can't help him with some supplement, the situation with covid-19 turned out to be quite serious in the end. So when I think about the general situation, the lack of CalMag is the least of the problems. I can be happy that I am healthy and that I have any plants at all :).
See you soon
Hello Diary.
Sixth week of flowering, I finally bought CalMag from GHE, I’m aware it’s too late, but better late than never.
As you can see in the pictures, there is a jungle in the box, but I managed to make a new solution for photography and that makes me very happy.
Less than a year ago, I bought two monkey fans from a secret garden, now another one has died. I'm sure I won't buy one again.
I removed the yellow-brown leaves that were affected by CalMg deficiency.
Watering is standard every three days. The flowers are now much more concrete, and continue to flourish.
03/04/2020 Day 66.
Watering. As before, 7 liters of water, one tablet of Easy Bloom Booster, to regulate p.H. I add Plagron’s Lemon Kick and with those 7 liters I water all three plants evenly.
06/04/2020 Day 69.
Watering. Same as three days earlier.
07/04/2020 Day 70.
Photography. I finally managed to put together a set-up for the photo shoot and now the pictures will be even more beautiful. I really wish someone could compare their own progress by photos.
At the end of this week I can say that I am grateful that the situation with covid-19 is slowly subsiding. Somango also sees a light at the end of the tunnel, and we’re all looking forward to it together. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
We reached the seventh week of flowering, a total of eleven weeks from germination. Somango has reached its peak in development and now the flowers are filling up.
I don’t think the yield will be like before but the flowers are quite hard, they are full of trichomes and they are very sticky and the smell is wonderful.
Since I started adding CalMg, I think it has recovered a bit.
I still water every three days and from the nutrients I only add Easy Bloom Booster tablets.
09/04/2020 Day 72.
Watering. I water all three plants with 7 liters of water. I give each one about the same amount. I dissolve one Easy Bloom Booster tablet in water and regulate p.H with Plagron’s Lemon Kick.
12/04/2020 Day 75.
Happy Easter :). Watering. Same procedure as three days earlier.
14/04/2020 Day 77.
Photography.
This is my first grow in which I plant feminized seeds. Definitely a lack of experience led to small problems. I didn’t think Mother Gorille would grow that big, in the next grow I should indulge in some of the techniques, topping or LST. But we’ll see in the end what we get. The flowers look good, the yield will certainly be lower than in the previous two grow, but we still have about two weeks to go so we will see at the end.
See you soon.
Hello Diary.
Eighth week of flowering, we soon came to an end. I think another week and there will be a harvest. I stopped adding any nutrients and supplements and watered only with water.
While I think I should have added some more nutrients, I don’t think the tablets were enough for full potential.
But I am happy, no matter the yield, the flowers look beautiful, sticky, fragrant and full of trichomes.
15/04/2020 Day 78.
Watering. I stopped adding Easy Bloom Booster tablets and watered only with water.
18/04/2020 Day 81.
Watering with water only.
21/04/2020 Day 84.
Photography. I bought a black background for photography and now the photos will be even better. I don’t know what I enjoy more, growing or photographing and filming? But in this second part I certainly have more experience :).
Another week and harvest. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
Last week of flowering and harvest. What a trip, a covid-19 situation, a lack of CalMg, huge roommates. But we pushed through to the end.
I apologize for the amount of pictures but they better describe the situation than I do in words.
I was checking under a microscope and the harvest was when the trichomes started to brown.
The harvest was the same day as his roommate Mother Gorillas.
I removed the larger leaves and turned the whole plants upside down and hung them in a box.
24/04/2020 Day 87.
Last watering.
28/04/2020 Day 91.
Last photo shoot and harvest.
Now ten days of drying so we will see the result. Buds are little, except main cola, but super rock and sticky.
Great trichomes production.
See you after drying, trimming, tasting and taking photos.
Hello Hello. 😀
What to say in the end, a crazy 13 weeks. As I wrote earlier, this is my first experience with feminized plants. Along with Somango XL, there were also two Mother Gorillas in the box who grew twice as big as Somango😯.
Throughout the vegetative phase it developed beautifully, flourished and looked like a small bush. At the beginning of flowering it started to show a lack of CalMG, but due to the situation with covid-19😷, I could not go to the grow shop and buy, I managed to get it only in the 10th week.
It did not elongate too much, reaching a height just over 60 cm.
I expected a higher yield, the branches were not completely filled with flowers but the ones that were, were hard, compact, full of terpene, very sticky and had a wonderful fruity smell.😋
After the harvest, she hung upside down in a dark box for ten days, along with her roommates Mother Gorilla. The temperature was about 24 degrees and the humidity 35%.
After that, I trimmed, weighed and stored in jars. In one jar I put better flowers while in the other a little weaker, from the lower branches.
In the end I got 35g of dried buds. The fact that the lower yield balanced the taste and effect of Somango XL, I really enjoy its fruity taste. I usually consume it in the evening when I’m done with all the commitments and have some time to myself😎.
In the end I would like to thank the Royal Queen Seeds who created this beautiful strain, I really recommend it to everyone. I would like to thank the Grow Diaries who created this wonderful community where we can share our experiences, also learn from others. Thanks to everyone who looked at the diary, and I hope it will help someone in their journey.
See you soon.
