@Rubob, Good eye. My ph was naturally that high right from the tap. I've only just started to control for ph. My target range for this grow is the recommended 5.5 to 6.5. I've noticed a tendency for the ph values to rise over time. From what I've been reading having values that float through a range can be beneficial so long as they aren't allow to remain out of range for more than a day.
I'm using both liquid and digital ph monitoring on this grow. The digital ph meter is much more precise, but it came with some unexpected maintenance. I've had to get bottles and containers to hold reference solutions made from packets and distilled water and had to get a storage solution to clean and protect the electrode from drying out. It's not too complicated, just unexpectedly complex.
As this is my first grow I'm keeping my eyes peeled for little tricks to make life easier. So far my favorites are that I installed a sink in the grow room to make water access and disposal easy, pumps for the gallon bottles of nutes for easy dispensing, getting a graduated cylinder and a set of beakers for measuring, and finally the growweedeasy site recommended this battery operated transfer pump and it makes moving water in and out of buckets and the reservoir super easy. A set of enloop rechargeable batteries means never having to be without it when it's needed.
