Two Barney's Farm G13 Haze seeds were put in a glass of water over night. The day after, the seeds didn't float any more, but were settled on the bottom of the glass. The seeds were then packed in a water soaked paper towel and put into a plate with a lid on top in the dark. After two days, the seeds were germinated and the seeds were planted in two jiffy pots and put in a mini greenhouse where they were allowed to sprout.
Two days later the sprouts were transferred into small pots, watered with pH 6.3 water and pun in the tent with a 18/6 hrs day/night cycle.
After two additional days in the small pots, the plants were transferred into 17 L cloth pots and watered with pH 6.3 water.
Four additional days went by, and the plants were watered with nutrients (Week 1, day 1 of the diary).
Day 7: watered with water + nutrients, pH 6.3, 1 L/pot.
Week 2:
Both plants are looking well and growing with equal speed, although the plant on the right ("the Right plant") is growing bushier - it is smaller than the plant on the left ("the Left plant"). I can't account for this difference, but one possible reason could be that the fan is located in the left corner off the tent and "the Right plant" is therefore subjected to a larger amount of airflow, which could lead to a development of a more sturdy plant.
Day 2: Lamp lowered from 50 cm to 30 cm.
Day 4: Watered with pH 6.3 water w/o nutrients.
Day 6: At this point both plants had grown past the 6th. node. I topped the plants right after the 3rd. node and trimmed all the fan leaves below, except the once at the 3rd. node.
Day 7: I started low stress training (LST) off the plants.
Day 1: Watered with 3 L water with nutrients, pH 6.3. The plants look well and are thriving.
Day 3: The two new main branches on each plant were topped after the first node.
Day 4: I noticed that the large bottom fan leaves had brown spots on them. The leaves were cut off and examined and after some internet search, I concluded that the brown spots were probably due to a pH burn. My pH has probably been a bit too low in the waterings, so this time I adjusted the pH to be a bit higher (between 6.5 and 7). The plants were watered with without nutrients.
Day 5: The plants were checked for additional browning of the leaves, but there was no browning. The lamp was lowered to 20 cm.
Day 2: Watered with pH 6.5 water without nutrients. he plants were topped creating 8 main branches in total per plant.
Day 4: Watered with water supplemented with nutrients, pH 6.5.
Day 5: LST was adjusted.
Day 6: Bottom fan leaves were defoliated. I noticed a few white spots on some fan leaves. I am not sure if these are residual water spots or some kind of fungus, maybe powdery mildew? I will have to keep an eye on the leaves to see if they appear again. I increased the air flow in the tent to lower the humidity.
Day 7: Watered with pH 6.5 water. No sign of additional white spots. LST adjusted.
Day 1: No sign of white spots observed previous week.
Day 2:
Defoliation of the most bottom fan leaves on each branch.
LST adjusted.
Watered with pH 6.5 water + nutrients.
Day 3: Defoliated and LST adjusted.
Day 4: LST adjusted.
Day 5: Watered with pH 6.5 water; Defoliated and LST adjusted.
Day 1:
I switched the light cycle to 12/12 and defoliated some of the leaves that were not allowing the light to pass by to the new buds.
I also removed the LST accessories and deployed the ScrOG net.
Watered with nutrients, pH 6.5
Day 4:
Watered with water pH 6.5 .
Day 6:
Watered with nutrients pH 6.5.
The plants look healthy and well. Right now I am watering them every 3rd day with nutrients every second time, but I am considering watering them every second day with a bit less water. I'll give them another week and see if I should increase the watering frequency. The Left plant has always been a bit bigger, but now the difference is more visible and by the end of the week, the left plant is slowly starting to flower.
The plants are growing fast now. There is a large net of smaller buds in between the main, tall branches. The left plant is clearly growing faster then the right plant. I am trying to keep them at same height, but I can see it will be difficult, as the left plant has started to flower.
Day 2: watered with pH 6.5 water.
Day 4: defoliated heavily and LSTed the main branches that were sticking out too high. The plants have stretched and the lamp had gotten town to almost 20 cm - the leaves are pointing a bit downwards and not due to thirst, as the soil is still moist, so most likely the light was too close the last couple of days. I adjusted the lamp back to 30 cm.
Day 5: watered w. nutrients, pH 6.5.
Day 7: watered w. nutrients, pH 6.5.
The plants look healthy and happy. As I also noticed last week, the plant on the right is behind on the flowering, compared to the plant on the left. The left plant is stretching much more.
Day 2: defoliated the leaves that were shadowing for the buds and the bottom leaves which were not getting any light. Watered with nutrients, pH 6.5.
Day 5: Watered with nutrients, pH 6.5.
The left plant is still ahead of the right plant in the flowering stage, but the right one has started to flower as well.
Day 1:
Watered with nutrients, pH 6.5.
Day 3:
Defoliated heavily, bottom leaves that did not get much light and large fan leaves that were shadowing the lower buds.
I noticed there were 6-7 bottom leaves which were yellowish (pics day 3). After a bit research, I concluded that it is due to nute burnt, but I will have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't develop further.
I watered the plants with pH 6.5 water.
Day 6:
Watered with pH 6.5 water.
Both plants look well and healthy and are flowering. The left plant is still ahead of the right plant, it has more ant taller flowering branches. On day 1 I found some yellowish leaves on the right plant, which were hidden in the bottom of the plant, so I assume they did not get enough light, or maybe late-flowering stage nitrogen deficiency, as it is the lower leaves. I fond couple additional yellowish leaves on day 6.
Day 1:
Watered with nutrients pH 6.5.
Day 3:
Watered with pH 6.5 water.
Day 6:
Watered with nutrients pH 6.5.
The plants look healthy and well except for some yellow leaves on the right plant, which I found on the lower part of the plant, The left one is still ahead of the right one in flowering, but the right one has begun to stretch even more and the main branches are actually a bit higher than the left one.
Day 1:
Watered with pH 6.5.
Day 3:
Watered with nutrients pH 6.5.
