Theres nothing I love more than logging on and seeing a beautiful little seedling in my feed. She looks like such a gorgeous little baby and I can't wait for the surprises she has in store for us. @Bigrobbud, I'll try to give you the quick answer.
As nutrient concentration (ppm/E.C) increases, pH will decrease. If you use a top-off reservoir (which I did not in the grow) your water volume will stay stable which means that as the plants drink/eat they will consume nutrients and the concentration will slowly decrease.
If your water volume is constant, you should only ever see a sudden pH drop during a bacterial bloom, normally root rot.
I use a top off reservoir full of taper water that has a pH of 7.8 or so (pretty high but it works).
I use a pH doser (check my newer grow diary) to pH the water down if the pH goes over the setpoint. I start around 6.3 in veg and work my way down to 5.8.
