JiminyCricket Been doing a lot of tweaking with the new gear and multiple sets of plants. Been quite a busy week and probably behind a bit on keeping track of everything. I'm currently working on trying to get better charts made to keep track of things like light schedules, detailed feedings, height change per day, etc. My current setup is my oldest 1st set of plants (5plants) and my 3rd set (6 seedlings), in my new 4x4 Vivosun grow tent equipped with a Spider Farmer SF-1000. I have kept my 2nd set of plants (4plants) in my original 4x2 Vivosun equipped with 600W Vivosun LED. These plants had been extremely stressed due to not having soil or containers available with shipping constraints. They've been doing a lot better since then and I'm hoping they make a full recovery. Fingers crossed! Running 24hr light schedule. Both tents equipped with temp/hygro high and low ranging from about 71-81°F with an average of about 78°F. Watering by plant pot weight, according to GH FloraTrio + CalMag Schedule. Mild LST via tucking of leaves blocking developing sites. No more than 3 leaves removed per plant, per day to avoid stress. ______________________________________ Can't wait to start upgrading the quality of my journals and to hear you all's feedback! Happy growing and good vibes as always 🌱 ______________________________________ 4/29/20 - Update Okeydoke! Feel like I've been doing too much running around everywhere. Sorry for being so hectic the past week or so if anyone has been keeping up with this 😂 For the time being, I'm currently running all three sets of my plants in my 4x4 tent. It's running all three of my fans, both lights and has the carbon filter system and humidifier hooked up to it as well. I basically have the other 4x2 just sitting as a shell for the moment. Either planning to save it for climate control when curing the first harvest or sell it to invest in another Spider Farmer SF-1000 LED or equivalent and possibly another 4x4 tent. I have started a grow chart that's still a little sketchy but if nothing else having it here hells me keep up with it that much better. [April 24th @ 3pm] Plant 1- (11in.) 2- (9in.) 3- (14.75in.) 4- (13in.) 5- (10.75in.) [April 26th @ 1:30pm] Plant 1- (11in.) 2- (9.5in.) 3- (18in.) 4- (14in.) 5- (11.5in.) [April 27th @ 12pm] Plant 1- (11.5in.) 2- (10.5in.) 3- (20.5in) 4- (15.25in.) 5- (11.5in) [April 29th @ 4am] Plant 1- (12in.) 2- (10.5in.) 3- (23in.) 4- (16in.) 5- (11.75in.) [April 30th @ 3:30pm] Plant 1- (12.25in.) 2- (10.5in.) 3- (25.75in.) 4- (16.75in.) 5- (12in.) ______________________________________ The most current batch of nutrient mixes for was made this morning about (2am 4/29/20) for the 1st and second set of plants. The first set of plant's nutrients was made to 4gal of water. The mix is a ratio of (Cal-Mag/GHMicro/GHGro/GHBloom) It's mixed (for the 4gal) in order; 10mL, 5mL, 10mL, 10mL. 440ppm @ 98.5°F 890EC @ 2.2°F us/cm This new nutrient mix was applied for the first time tonight and will run about a week. I'm running a bit behind according to the GH schedule I was following due to stunting the growth I felt like over a couple issues to where I have them an extra week of veg nutrients. As I have defoliated them and they have seemed to take it pretty well, I'm hoping the increase in bloom nutrients will kick the buds into overdrive for production and the plants will start to thicken up again. The second mix follows the same order as the first set in regards to nutrient usage. This mix is only mixed to one gallon. It as follows; 2.5mL, 2.5mL, 1.25mL, 2.5mL. 500ppm @ 98.6°F 992EC @ 0.4°F us/cm This is mostly following the same GH nutrient schedule as the first set only about 2 weeks behind. These plants suffered from being in too small of containers for too long and I believe this stunted their growth. I've had them in suitable new containers for a couple days now and hoping this new mix of increased nutrients will bring them back to life a bit and get them back in schedule. I'm honestly not too sure still about the ppm and EC numbers but a few bud-dies have mentioned that it plays important roles in plant health. So until I can better research good numbers and how to control it for my set up, I'm at the very least trying to keep track of the data. I apologise about this large chunk of text! I hope you enjoy the diary anyway in spite of the fact. I'm loving the look of the buds and everything seems to be going great. Only a few months to go! 😎

JiminyCricket Had to leave out of town and person sitting didn't water plants. As a new grower I had already been under watering but had finally found my mistake and the plants seemed to be bouncing back after regular waterings. Plants got mixed up so the dates and strains information was lost. Using this more as a test run and learning opportunity for a second batch currently germinating. Feel like the current five I have left look to be in good condition though.

Hello everyone! This is my first grow. I've had a rough start trying to learn the basics. I'm wondering if my current setup looks okay. I have my five original seeds that sprouted on March 5-9th. I've been feeding GH Trio in mother Earth Coco/perlite mix. Humidity @ 50 Temp @ 72.

Hi @JiminyCricket Nothing to worrie about buddie .Too much wet substrate may be the cause to plant not grow. let the substrate dry well between watering. controls if the substrate is dry by the weight of the pot. when the substrate is dry it becomes very light and when it is very wet the pot becomes very heavy.Temperature ideal 18c-28c. I prefer growing in 18/6. Try keep the humidity at 70% -80% .and only start giving growth fertilizers when the second to real leaves grow. Good luck mate 👍

JiminyCricket So the plants have been looking great for the past two weeks. Fell off my maintenance and journal upkeep due to Covid worries and family issues. The plants have been producing scent for about a week to a week and a half, enough to smell up a 12x12 room with carbon filter. Lately I have been becoming worried about the appearance of my bigger plants. They seem to still be curling up at the leaf edges and some appear to be very moldable but not very springy and strong. I have currently moved the bigger plants to the schedule for Week 5 nutrients and the seedlings to week 3 nutrients according to the uploaded schedule. I'm still waiting for an additional tent and light system as well as more 1 and 3 gal pots for later transporting. Also a set of hygro/temp meters as I only have a seedling mat and humidifier for current measurements and feel this is causing me some trouble with maintaining my plants.

I'm currently worried about my older plant set that seem to be constantly having the leaf edges curl and seem to be a little droopy and a little too dark green. Also I feel like I should be doing some sort of training. I would love to have some feedback on what you all think. ✌️

1st your infos says "hydro" but it's coco growing , they are similar but not the same . So you'r asking what sort of training can you do ? but you already started to LST your girls so why not continuing like that ? You can apply a topping to help for the lst and build a shope , once the tops will be removed then the lower branchs will thive more and higgher so you can build an even canopy , so when the lateral branchs will be tall enough you will be ablle to bend them with a rope or anything else. Dark green foliage can be due to a Nitrogen excess but in your case I fell like you can't as you've cut the Floragrow so I guess you did it beuse of the Cal mag Plus that may contain Nitrogen , if not then go back to the original GHE feeding char. The dark green colour of the foliage must be coming from you purple light n purple light are well known to induce dark green foliage and to limit the stretch between the nodes so you get shorter plants. Droopy leaves can be a sign of over/under watering and as your perlite is tuning green due to some algue then I guess that you must over water a bit or at least you've done it in the past , so the droopy leaves can come from that while the edges of the leaves curling up is due to your lack of humidity ( 50% ) when you need a 70% level.

JiminyCricket I've been having a tough time with shipping getting things I need to properly control my environment and running into issues. I have invested in a new; 4x5 Vivosun tent to give the bigger plants more room, a Spider Farmer 1000 ( MrCanucks, a guy I learned a lot from on YouTube did a paid trial of this product with pretty great results, thought I'd try compared to my current crappy LED.), Sizing down to 1 and 3gal fabric pots for a softer transplant transition next go around, the hygrometer/thermometers, some more appropriate sized fans for the tent ( Genesis clip on and treveda circulating fan) to help with general airflow. Overall I'm actually very happy with all my first set plants (the bigger ones), most seem to be producing multiple sites and growing bigger every day. Noticed the seedlings having trouble about two to three days ago at most. Honestly did not give them the attention they needed. First though it was nutrient deficiency or lockout, maybe, overwatering. Finally checked the soil good and seen how clay like and thick it had become, then took a few out their cups and seen the roots we're choking. I have a grow question up wondering whether I should try to save the seedlings or scrap them in favor of more light for the bigger plants that are obviously growing well? Until next week! Happy growing and much love to all! ✌️🌱 -UPDATE- So I ended up receiving my new Spider Farmer SF-1000 LED grow light and my two fans a bit ahead of schedule today! ☺️ Got the Treveda circulating fan and Genesis clip on fan. Reset all the plants to better benefit from the new gear and a couple other things. Need video I uploaded shows the most current setup. I moved all my bigger 1st set seed to the left side and hung the SF LED to about 20.5-21in from the tallest of the 4 of those plants. Most all are at least 9 inches. I moved the ring of the 1st set and seedlings to the right side under the Vivosun 600W at about 24in. Still haven't received much feedback on my grow question regarding my seedlings. Since I wasn't quite what to do, I ended up leaving them out of the cups and putting them in my germination tray. My hope is I can keep the plants surviving long enough off of regular sprayings and using the tray as a make shift nutrient reservoir until the soil and pots finally arrive. Scheduled to be here Wednesday, hopefully earlier like the light and fans 👍 Would love to hear all your feedback and opinions! Hope everyone is having good grows and good vibes!

I'm wondering what is a good stage to start introducing airflow on the plants to increase resilience? I was running this Treveda circulating fan on the outside of my tent through the vent but it didn't seem to be producing much airflow on the inside. Does this look bad inside?

In my grow so far I have my seedling as well as other plants getting a slight breeze so from what I know, yours seems like they can benefit it and I'm on week two. In the video, the wind did seem a little aggressive on those leaves. You could position your fan to blow that air indirectly to your plants by turning it to the wall slightly but I'm also not sure if that's your source of intake. You could even turn that left plant the other way so the leaves aren't getting hit from the front.

I've been looking into defoliation as being beneficial to bud site development and outweighing the stress negatives. I'm doing one run of defoliation in this first week of flowering to test this as my plants are getting thick. Is this too much? Opinions on this? Refer to diary.

Hi mate! I'm sorry to tell you but that looks waaay too much 'cos the leaves are like solar panels that suck the light and convert it to energy for the plant. Tha idea in defoliation is to remove some of those leaves and do it gradually starting in veg stage and doing roughest defo in veg too. You learn more by reading this https://www.growweedeasy.com/defoliation Main idea is to remove lowest leaves that wont get light anyway and only the biggest fan leaves on top that are shading lower bud sites. Luckily if oyu are in first week of flower your girl will still grow some new leaves so your final yield won't be too much reduced but don't take anymore leaves later on unles they are really blocking something and tucking them wont help 'cos maybe in 3rd week of flower the plant wont make any new leaves and if you lose any your yield might be reduced cos the plant cant suck as much light from the lamp as it could.
