Been doing a lot of tweaking with the new gear and multiple sets of plants. Been quite a busy week and probably behind a bit on keeping track of everything. I'm currently working on trying to get better charts made to keep track of things like light schedules, detailed feedings, height change per day, etc. My current setup is my oldest 1st set of plants (5plants) and my 3rd set (6 seedlings), in my new 4x4 Vivosun grow tent equipped with a Spider Farmer SF-1000. I have kept my 2nd set of plants (4plants) in my original 4x2 Vivosun equipped with 600W Vivosun LED. These plants had been extremely stressed due to not having soil or containers available with shipping constraints. They've been doing a lot better since then and I'm hoping they make a full recovery. Fingers crossed! Running 24hr light schedule. Both tents equipped with temp/hygro high and low ranging from about 71-81°F with an average of about 78°F. Watering by plant pot weight, according to GH FloraTrio + CalMag Schedule. Mild LST via tucking of leaves blocking developing sites. No more than 3 leaves removed per plant, per day to avoid stress. ______________________________________ Can't wait to start upgrading the quality of my journals and to hear you all's feedback! Happy growing and good vibes as always 🌱 ______________________________________ 4/29/20 - Update Okeydoke! Feel like I've been doing too much running around everywhere. Sorry for being so hectic the past week or so if anyone has been keeping up with this 😂 For the time being, I'm currently running all three sets of my plants in my 4x4 tent. It's running all three of my fans, both lights and has the carbon filter system and humidifier hooked up to it as well. I basically have the other 4x2 just sitting as a shell for the moment. Either planning to save it for climate control when curing the first harvest or sell it to invest in another Spider Farmer SF-1000 LED or equivalent and possibly another 4x4 tent. I have started a grow chart that's still a little sketchy but if nothing else having it here hells me keep up with it that much better. [April 24th @ 3pm] Plant 1- (11in.) 2- (9in.) 3- (14.75in.) 4- (13in.) 5- (10.75in.) [April 26th @ 1:30pm] Plant 1- (11in.) 2- (9.5in.) 3- (18in.) 4- (14in.) 5- (11.5in.) [April 27th @ 12pm] Plant 1- (11.5in.) 2- (10.5in.) 3- (20.5in) 4- (15.25in.) 5- (11.5in) [April 29th @ 4am] Plant 1- (12in.) 2- (10.5in.) 3- (23in.) 4- (16in.) 5- (11.75in.) [April 30th @ 3:30pm] Plant 1- (12.25in.) 2- (10.5in.) 3- (25.75in.) 4- (16.75in.) 5- (12in.) ______________________________________ The most current batch of nutrient mixes for was made this morning about (2am 4/29/20) for the 1st and second set of plants. The first set of plant's nutrients was made to 4gal of water. The mix is a ratio of (Cal-Mag/GHMicro/GHGro/GHBloom) It's mixed (for the 4gal) in order; 10mL, 5mL, 10mL, 10mL. 440ppm @ 98.5°F 890EC @ 2.2°F us/cm This new nutrient mix was applied for the first time tonight and will run about a week. I'm running a bit behind according to the GH schedule I was following due to stunting the growth I felt like over a couple issues to where I have them an extra week of veg nutrients. As I have defoliated them and they have seemed to take it pretty well, I'm hoping the increase in bloom nutrients will kick the buds into overdrive for production and the plants will start to thicken up again. The second mix follows the same order as the first set in regards to nutrient usage. This mix is only mixed to one gallon. It as follows; 2.5mL, 2.5mL, 1.25mL, 2.5mL. 500ppm @ 98.6°F 992EC @ 0.4°F us/cm This is mostly following the same GH nutrient schedule as the first set only about 2 weeks behind. These plants suffered from being in too small of containers for too long and I believe this stunted their growth. I've had them in suitable new containers for a couple days now and hoping this new mix of increased nutrients will bring them back to life a bit and get them back in schedule. I'm honestly not too sure still about the ppm and EC numbers but a few bud-dies have mentioned that it plays important roles in plant health. So until I can better research good numbers and how to control it for my set up, I'm at the very least trying to keep track of the data. I apologise about this large chunk of text! I hope you enjoy the diary anyway in spite of the fact. I'm loving the look of the buds and everything seems to be going great. Only a few months to go! 😎

Hello everyone! This is my first grow. I've had a rough start trying to learn the basics. I'm wondering if my current setup looks okay. I have my five original seeds that sprouted on March 5-9th. I've been feeding GH Trio in mother Earth Coco/perlite mix. Humidity @ 50 Temp @ 72.

Hi @JiminyCricket Nothing to worrie about buddie .Too much wet substrate may be the cause to plant not grow. let the substrate dry well between watering. controls if the substrate is dry by the weight of the pot. when the substrate is dry it becomes very light and when it is very wet the pot becomes very heavy.Temperature ideal 18c-28c. I prefer growing in 18/6. Try keep the humidity at 70% -80% .and only start giving growth fertilizers when the second to real leaves grow. Good luck mate 👍

I'm currently worried about my older plant set that seem to be constantly having the leaf edges curl and seem to be a little droopy and a little too dark green. Also I feel like I should be doing some sort of training. I would love to have some feedback on what you all think. ✌️

1st your infos says "hydro" but it's coco growing , they are similar but not the same . So you'r asking what sort of training can you do ? but you already started to LST your girls so why not continuing like that ? You can apply a topping to help for the lst and build a shope , once the tops will be removed then the lower branchs will thive more and higgher so you can build an even canopy , so when the lateral branchs will be tall enough you will be ablle to bend them with a rope or anything else. Dark green foliage can be due to a Nitrogen excess but in your case I fell like you can't as you've cut the Floragrow so I guess you did it beuse of the Cal mag Plus that may contain Nitrogen , if not then go back to the original GHE feeding char. The dark green colour of the foliage must be coming from you purple light n purple light are well known to induce dark green foliage and to limit the stretch between the nodes so you get shorter plants. Droopy leaves can be a sign of over/under watering and as your perlite is tuning green due to some algue then I guess that you must over water a bit or at least you've done it in the past , so the droopy leaves can come from that while the edges of the leaves curling up is due to your lack of humidity ( 50% ) when you need a 70% level.

I'm wondering what is a good stage to start introducing airflow on the plants to increase resilience? I was running this Treveda circulating fan on the outside of my tent through the vent but it didn't seem to be producing much airflow on the inside. Does this look bad inside?

In my grow so far I have my seedling as well as other plants getting a slight breeze so from what I know, yours seems like they can benefit it and I'm on week two. In the video, the wind did seem a little aggressive on those leaves. You could position your fan to blow that air indirectly to your plants by turning it to the wall slightly but I'm also not sure if that's your source of intake. You could even turn that left plant the other way so the leaves aren't getting hit from the front.

I've been looking into defoliation as being beneficial to bud site development and outweighing the stress negatives. I'm doing one run of defoliation in this first week of flowering to test this as my plants are getting thick. Is this too much? Opinions on this? Refer to diary.

Hi mate! I'm sorry to tell you but that looks waaay too much 'cos the leaves are like solar panels that suck the light and convert it to energy for the plant. Tha idea in defoliation is to remove some of those leaves and do it gradually starting in veg stage and doing roughest defo in veg too. You learn more by reading this https://www.growweedeasy.com/defoliation Main idea is to remove lowest leaves that wont get light anyway and only the biggest fan leaves on top that are shading lower bud sites. Luckily if oyu are in first week of flower your girl will still grow some new leaves so your final yield won't be too much reduced but don't take anymore leaves later on unles they are really blocking something and tucking them wont help 'cos maybe in 3rd week of flower the plant wont make any new leaves and if you lose any your yield might be reduced cos the plant cant suck as much light from the lamp as it could.

Lift your pots up , is there condensation on either your tray / Mylar if so add some venting under the pots some type of spacer to let air/heat flow to the bottom aswell as your top autos do like some dry time through the soil/Coco . If its 72 in the tent the bottom of that 5 gal pot isn't 72 as others mentioned bring the heat up a lil.

@JiminyCricket,good call about sensor's up is different then below, temps I'm running is at soils top lvl sensor sitting on pots edge to monitor it will the Wyze cam in tent but I like 77 range give or take a few night time for me is 2:30-6:30 light cycle my fans stay on full time( was reading movement in the seedlings encouraging rippling in the stocks core encouraging strength from the start low temps 70 an breezy. If Domes are needed being seedlings are very small a bottle cut in half with lid removed is a great crutch to give it a lil green house effect an kind of aim the seedling up to the light. Autos are so limited on time I think you want to try to have a decent soil/coco temp an times of it being dry to encourage the roots to go find what waters there . Soil meter is my method water in to about mid moist area dont water again ( this doesn't include misting plants an top soil) til its hitting lowest area on dry , trying to force those roots outside . Bigger root bigger abilities.

@StickyWeeds, Thanks for the reply! I just got my risers in the day before yesterday so I haven't seen much change in the setup just yet. I noticed that it does seem to keep the pots a little better aired out and the tent floor isn't getting damp. This is what I ended up getting, but feel like there has to be something a bit cheaper and more effective? I do like the space the square ones seem to save. What would be a good temp range in your opinion? I've been reading about 68-75 is optimal, little higher as seedlings? I've been trying to keep the tent right around 73°F but it's heating up to 80°F at some points during the day and as low as 68°F during some nights. Just an after thought; I'm getting the two Vivosun hygro/temps readers soon, do you think it would be best to keep one at the top and bottom of the tent to check for hot areas? I'm still waiting for another 3-1 Vivosun soil monitor I'll probably keep in one of the bigger pots. What do you think?

@Ferenc, You're completely right! ☺️ I honestly didn't have too high expectations as this being my first grow but since finding this site I'm feeling a lot better haha. I love how everyone seems to be really here to help each other and learn. I can't wait to see all the things I pick up from my fellow growers and how this first harvest turns out. I'm really trying to use this as a crash course and learn the basics, as I have a good stash of other seed strains I picked out and am hoping to be able to find some nice CBD options at a later date to help with some stomach issues I have. I only have a few people connected on here so far, so if you have any good people to follow or anything else you think is a good resource, just let me know! I'll be continuing to watch your grows, excited to learn what I can!

It's hard to give you a real answer with no data of your feeding strength. For soil growing, it is recommended to use an EC / PPM meter, for coco and hydro, it is a must, or you will always be guessing if you are over or under feeding. Curled leaves edges and dark green foliage is a sign of over feeding, particularly, nitrogen (grow nutes). The easiest training techniques are both LST and TOPing; both can be used both in photoperiod strains and autoflowers, although for autos, you can only top before the 5th pair of leaves fully open and no later than that. Keep in mind that every time you TOP, the plant will need 7 to 10 days to recover.

@@Athos, Thank you for the detailed reply mate! I do have a PPM/EC meter but I'll be honest I have no idea how to properly use it. I'm not exactly sure how to check my runoff and PPM as I've been unable to really find any good videos or sites with info on it. I use Mother Earth 70/30 Coco Perlite. For the main plants I believe that I'm around week 5 and using a schedule from online. Currently the nutrient mix is Micro, Bloom, and CalMag at 2.464ml/gal and the Gro at 1.232ml/gal. I usually mix about 4gals at a time and let it sit before feeding. Final PH is about 5.75-6.2 for most all mixes I've made so far. Other than that, I'm not sure when or what I'm looking for at that point with PPM/EC, and not quite sure the best way to check the plants runoff afterwards. As most of my the plants seem to be getting a heavy shade of darker green, would your opinion be to lower the concentration of Nitrogen nutes and continue feeding as normal, or should I flush with PHed water and start again with a lower concentration mix? In regards to the training, I don't feel too comfortable with topping yet, and I don't really like messing with them too much LST wise being such a new grower. Do you think it would be more beneficial to just let them grow until I'm more experienced, or does the current LST that I'm running look okay? Sorry for the rapid fire questions, I really do appreciate the response and information! 👍✌️ Happy growing and cheers mate

So I've tried to really nail everything down and get my dates and all my information correct. I believe I fixed where my strains were shown as custom and not the right seedbanks. I am using Mother Earth 70/30 Coco-Perlite, so I had thought people were saying that Coco is treated as a hydroponic, or soiless medium with. Now I'm being told that isn't the case so I switched the medium type back to soil. I'll be trying to update the weeks 2-4 as soon as I can get all my photos and stuff together and make sure the info is correct. If there is anything else that seems off, please let me know as I am trying to make good habits and learn how to properly document and keep track of future grows. I'm so thankful for all the replies and people checking in as this is my first grow and I'm pretty new to the site. Much love and good vibes to everyone out there! Can't wait to connect and see y'all's grows 👍🌱
