2020-03-29 (Day 2) 24 hrs of light is required as my basement is too cool for these little seedlings and I’m using a 100w cfl to supply heat. Light being used is a Chinese “1000w” LED. Once my other plants are done drying I will be putting these in my 2.5*2.5 grow room under 18/6. Once June rolls around I’ll plane planting this girl directly in my vegetable garden.

2020-04-05 (Day 9) Moved her into my 2.5’*2.5’ grow room and now she’s reached her new temporary home in my 4*8 grow tent along with my other outdoor strains and some tomato seedlings. I will top and clip some clones and most likely do an outdoor mainline. This will be my second attempt at mainlining and first outdoors. I don’t need the massive trees I had last year, and I think I can maximize my yield and keep my plants a little shorter. This girl will be going right in my flower bed. I introduced nutes this week and all the girls took them like champs! I'm now running my 2 600W Meizhi LED lights in my 4*4 space for all my girls. Stay tuned!

2020-04-23 (Day 27) Missed a week sorry but it was an uneventful early veg week. Growing great and I transplanted her into a 2 falling fabric pot. It’s my first time using fabric pots and they definitely have there pros and cons. I really advise using these things for young vegetating plants that aren’t too thirsty. They dry out quick enough and make overwatering near impossible. In flowering I believe they’d dry out daily and be so demanding for water, but I won’t find out as I will be transplanting her outside directly in my flower bed. She’ll most likely be topped before the next journal entry so stay tuned!

2020-04-30 (Day 34) Mainline initiated. It was a very hard decision after browsing the other Purple Berry Kush diaries on this site and seeing just how beautiful @dalemac 's turned out with that beauty main cola but lets see what she can do topped outdoors with over a 4 month veg. Once her mains get a little longer I'll tie them down. Going to build a DIY scrog net for this girl in the next couple weeks and plant her in my vegetable garden. Come on May 24!

2020-05-05 (Day 39) Mainline is progressing nicely. Took 10 wheelbarrows of ground from my cattle barnyard and mixed it thoroughly into my outdoor flower bed. Next step is to build my outdoor scrog net which I’ll get to either this weekend or next. I’m going to try and get this girl to finish with a footprint of 4’x4’ and keep her height below 4 ft, but we’ll see what the sun and a couple more months do to her. I’ll post pics of her eventual home next week.

2020-05-12 (Day 55) Spreading out the new mains. I’ll top the four symmetric mains in another week, growing them out a bit further. Built a 4*4 outdoor scrog net and put a load of barnyard manure in my flower bed her final home. Growth slowed this week as temps plummeted as I was busy in the hospital having the greatest day of my life! Baby boy was born on The weekend!! He’s perfect and the best thing ever. I unplugged the heater before I left as I didn’t want to leave the fire hazard on. Never scroged before so this will be interesting doing it outdoors with an extended veg period. Canada Fuck Yeah🇨🇦🇨🇦

2020-05-19 (Day 62) The big day has come! Transplanted on may 17th into her final home, my vegetable garden. Didn’t have a chance to pick up any Gaia Green 4-4-4 or Blood Meal yet but I will this week and top dress. The soil was amazing last year for the one girl I through in my bed. Had one major newbie fuck up with this girl. After transplanting I snapped 1/4 of my mains when tiring them back down. I tied her back together and hope she heals. If she doesn’t I’ll still mainline off of the three remaining mains. Temps are a little cool at night and frost is not 100% out of the question so I’m checking every night for the time being and I’ll cover if it’s in the forecast. Likely by the end of the week I’ll be topping again and I’ll be up to 16 new colas, I’ve never mainlined outdoors or scrogged at all before but I built this net and we’ll see what a scrogged purple Berry Kush looks like under the sun. Stay tuned and see what the sun and some training can do!🌞🇨🇦

2020-05-25 (Day 69) Purple Berry Kush 🍇 is loving this sun. Worries have shifted from frost to heat and water as we just went through a hot dry week and we have another week of +30C forecasted. Broken main began rebounding 4 days after snapping so she has some catching up to do. But the point is she survived!!! I’ve been watering daily with straight tap water. I went to my local hydro store (40 min drive) to get some Gaia Green to top dress and they were completely sold out of dry amendments. I really don’t want to use liquid nutes again as mixing up 10 gallons every 2-3 nights is extremely taxing and time consuming. I’m going to try and get some but in the mean time of a deficiency begins I will supplement with my liquid GHE nutes for the time being. Stay tuned and watch this girl veg for a coupe more months!

2020-06-01 (Day 76) Purple Berry Kush 🍇 is loving this sun. Wow now that was a hot week, +33 and no rain for a couple day’s, followed by 8 C and rain. After topping again she’s at 16 colas! I keep leaving the new tops to grow large enough to clone them so I’m essentially topping once a week. That is the only reason she doesn’t seem to grow in my updates but trust me she is growing fast! I may put her through 1 more round of topping for 64 tops to fill that scrog, but we’ll see if that broken main can catch up. Still no nutes and no visible deficiencies yet (knock on wood). I really doubt I’ll be using anything as this soil has performed in the past. I can’t wait to give her a break from topping and being able to see her explode for weeks!

2020-06-08 (Day 83) Mainline isn’t quite even as the branch that broke on transplant is about a week behind the 3 other mains. This currently results in 3 mains with 8 tops and one main with 4, so essentially we’re sitting at 28 tops. This girl has the girthiest branches yet and doesn’t take too well to being tied down. New limbs harden up fast and loose their elasticity quick. I’ve pulled a ton of clones from her and it’s near time for her to be left alone, except for some LST to fill the SCROG. Weather has been up and down but for the most part she’s been pretty dry out there. No nutes yet and she’s still lacking deficiencies. Stay tuned and watch this summer unfold and the purple flowers form 💐!

2020-06-15 (Day 90) Mainline is a little asymmetric due to the 2 week delay in one main due to my overzealous training. Everything has rebounded and this girl has the hardest and least flexible branches of any plant I’ve grown, leading me to recommend this girl for areas that suffer high winds as she is just a strong bitch. Nodes are now 50/50 symmetric/asymmetric so now I’m focusing on filling the scrog. Not sure how many colas were at now but there will be a ton before she’s done! Did a major defoliation at the start of the week but you’d never know it now! Still no nutes and she just loves the soil in my flowerbed. Little to no rain this week so I’ve been watering every three days or so. Stay tuned and watch this girl fill the net!

2020-06-23 (Day 98) It’s been hot as balls with no rain. Still no nutes and watering once a week of no rain. Gave her a big defoliation and she should be reaching the net in the next week or two. Once scrogged I’ll count the tops, right now I have no clue as I just kept topping whatever breaches the canopy. Clones off this girl are doing awesome too!

2020-06-30 (Day 105) Heat has subsided a bit but it’s in the forecast again for the next couple days so we should see some explosive growth. Still nute free. We’ve reached the SCROG with multiple tops now and by next update she should be pretty filled out. I may implement some super cropping as well since I have enough tops and still have over a month of veg Left. I cannot wait to see this girl start flowering. This is my first SCROG attempt so hopefully I don’t fuck everything up. 🤞 2020-06-23 (Day 98 It’s been hot as balls with no rain. Still no nutes and watering once a week of no rain. Gave her a big defoliation and she should be reaching the net in the next week or two. Once scrogged I’ll count the tops, right now I have no clue as I just kept topping whatever breaches the canopy. 2020-07-08 (Day 113) Heat wave is back in full force, supposed to be near 40 C with e humidex the next couple days. I rarely need to water this girl and she has not once dropped from being under watered. Leaves are beginning to get chewed up more than any other of my plants and I’ve pinpointed it to ants. Just this morning I sprayed the entire manifold with ortho pest control and that should prevent them from getting to the leaves. The SCROG is beginning to fill out nicely and some tops are 6” above the net. She’s just a beauty plant in my opinion. It will look awesome once the colas start forming! Stay tuned!

2020-07-15 (Day 120) We had a relief from the heat and dryness with a misty cooler weekend. Just enough rain all weekend to wet the ground so nothing major. Have watered this girl maybe 3-4 times since she’s been in the flower bed, through a drought too. Pictures should look cleaner next week as I’m going to clean up everything under the net! Should have some sweet pictures then. One side of the sea of tops is taller than the other due to me not planting the young plant directly in the middle of the scrog. Stay tuned to watch this beast keep grow! 🍇

2020-07-24 (Day 129) So this thing is just way bigger than I anticipated! I think within the next two weeks I’ll have to add another level to the SCROG. Right before I add the next layer I will do a heavy defoliation To ensure I’ll have good airflow come fall. No water, no nutes, this is the easiest grow ever! Less than a month and this net of purple donkey dicks should start forming! 🍆 🍆 🍆

2020-07-31 (Day 136) Likely by the next update or the one after I will have added another layer to the scrog. Thing is much larger than I thought and the stretch is going to make this thing just a giant. Minor leaf damage from ants and aphids but the pests seem naturally under control. Mint has been transplanted around to deter ants. Stay tuned! Flower time is almost here! 🌺 🌸 🌹

2020-08-13 (Day 150) Growing, growing and growing! I was supposed to add a level to the SCROG but time ran out this week. Heading out of town for over a week and it’s nice having this girl and my Dutch Auto being the only two girls I have zero worries about. I don’t need anyone to take care of them as they’re self sufficient being planted directly in the ground. Next update may be a coupe days late depending when I get back. Stay tuned preflowers are showing!

2020-08-23 (Day 160) Just a monster and officially week 1 of flower! She’s packing on the flowers fast and just loving this all organic grow. This girl has been a breeze to grow, almost no waterings, no nutes and after setting up the mainline not too much training. It’s been humid and rainy lately, and we’re in for a mess of a fall, but let’s stay positive! This girl is the second furthest along photoperiod I have going and I’m super pumped to see these buds start taking shape!

2020-09-22 (Day 190) Just a stunning plant! Beautiful in all regards! Fans are beginning to fade to a beautiful purple and i know only more purple to come. She’s been through 3 frosts and taken it like a chance. The strain info is spot on and she has a super strong Berry/gas smell. Can’t wait to see what this monster yields!

2020-09-30 (Day 198) Almost the absolute worst weather for our area for dope this time of year. 3 frosts and now a week of dampness and rain. All my girls have at least 90% cloudy trichs and either 10% amber or clear. My chopping schedule is now not trich related it’s based on who’s suffering from WPM the worst and who’s got the fattest colas more susceptible to rot. Therefore Dutch auto is in the midst of being chopped as it’s got the fattest colas and some WPM. Next will be BB3 as she’s getting hit hard by WPM. After that it’ll be GG4, which will suck balls as it is just a monster bush. Then either GSC or Purple Berry, both of which seem pretty resistant to the mildew. Purple Berry may be last since it is in the best spot for airflow. This thing is just fucking gorgeous! I don’t know what to say! 🍇 🍓

2020-10-07 (Day 205) Trimmed up my Purple Berry Kush over the last 3 days. -I trimmed fan leaves while the plant was still intact, -then cut branches and debudded them, -Buds were then wet trimmed with a bowl trimmer -Buds were then washed in 1cup H2O2 : 5 gallon water solution, -Buds then rinsed off in pure water. -put on drying rack in tent and humidity controlled at 55%-60% with dehumidifier, temp at 65F and two fans running, -after about 4 days buds were put in air proof 5 gallon pale to cure. This thing was an absolute pleasure to grow, no additional nutrients and no watering. Goes to show what 100% organic grows can accomplish when combined with good genetics. WPM is very prevalent in my area and this strain suffered minor WPm infection. Additionally I only lost two small buds to budrot even with the incredibly damp final coupe weeks she endured. As a result I’ll give her a 7/10 on the mold/mildew resistance. I trimmed and jarred 976g (dry) And there is still likely 100-300g of smaller popcorn left on the plant. My neighbour is supposed to come harvest it mid October, little present for him as I’m out of time to trim. I will update taste and effects soon once cured for a bit. All in all this thing was the easiest to grow and I think the OUTDOOR SCROG succeeded in helping me produce some dank bud that just reeks like purple Gatorade. I recommend growing this 100% but if indoors ensure your carbon filters are in good shape because this thing smelled incredibly strong! I believe this strain will be a permanent staple in my outdoor grows and anyone who got clones from this girl can’t get over how their plants turned out! Great work @spliffseeds, can’t wait to grow more of your genetics!
