Finally got all the girls germinated and in the system. Germed in paper towels and then into rockwool cubes and directly into rdwc. 13 gallon buckets. 8 inch net pots. Been top feeding as the roots dont hit the water yet.
Had a few issues germinating. Wasnt careful and broke a few when handling them. Wasnt going to go with the trainwreck because of the long stretch and mutations from last grow but she seems strong enough .
Also, of note, I am considering trying out a manifolding/ mainlining technique this time around. Havent decided yet , although this may be a good method for the lanky trainwreck.
Hi @Yummynugz these deformations in the leaves seem to me to be genetic flaws in crossing. it will not affect you at all, many times after 4/5 the knot starts to form leaves without defects. good luck mate 🙏👍
I switched out one of the t5 lights for my 1000w cool tube. This seemed to worsen the twisted leaves and brown spots that were appearing. I kinda lost track of the cal mag i gave them and suspect it may be a calcium deficiency.
I added another 250ml to the 100gallons of nutes and we will see what happens. The plants under t5 still seem to be fairing a lot better. 1000w is at 28" . And tent is at constant 65-75°F . Humidity is at 65. I dont suspect heat stress.
So last week i was having some issues. The lower fan leaves were gettimg brown spots and dying out at an alarming rate. Also there was some twisting in the leaves.
I had assumed this was a cal mag deficiency. But adding more didnt seem to help. Then I happened to notice one of the tubes in a bucket was slimy... yup... when i looked they all had a slimy film. I think i got lazy and left the lid off the reservoir for a couple days. Light must have gotten in and created algae.
I drained the whole system , cleaned, scrubbed, and replaced 100gallons of nutes. Sprayed off the roots. I also went back to my tried and trusted GH flora series. I was trying growth science but im afraid it may have contributed..??
System change and new nutes did WONDERS. Spotting and dying has ceased and they all appear to be thriving once again. Success!
I decided to upgrade my lights . I just want to try different options with each grow and see first hand what i like and don't. I tried a 1000w cooltube last run. This run i wanted to step it up and try a DE. Im in a tent though so i went with the air cooled one from Sun Systems. This light is HOT! Lol im also going to be getting a 600w LED for the other half of the tent to offset the heat a bit. It will also gice me a chance to compare the 2.
Til next week. Happy growing!
Plants are continuing to thrive after finally sealing all the light leaks. I had more than i had realized. (Coming through the hydroton actually).
I went ahead and began the process of manifolding 4 of the plants. Unfortunately im still learning and managed to break the only 2 mains on the fruity pebbles . I duct taped them back. One survived one didnt. Oh well- live and learn i guess. Im gonna be doing 3 of them the original nugbucket style and one the new age approach of mainlining. Curious to see if the extra veg with nugbuckets way is worth it.
Anyone with experience manilfolding/ mainlining/ fluxing please feel free to comment or introduce yourself to me. Always looking to learn!
Til next week,
Happy growin
Figured Im way overdue for an update.... been getting busy on all the work in the grow room .. and outside as well and just havent made the time for an update in weeks..
Got a bottom trellis on to help aid me in LST. Most of my well thought out perfect manifolding went out the window. I find myself too clumsy and inexperienced to not manage to break branches here and there and im at the point now im.just kinda trying my own mainling and training techniques and see what works for me and what doesnt .
This should be my last training and defoliation before i allow them to start growing upwards. I figure i can allow then to get 14-16 insches tall before i need to switch to flower to avoid ceiling height issues. They are all below 4 inches or so right now. :)
Looking forward to setting up a scrog net and starting to prepare for flower time. I expect to flip them in about 2 weeks time if all goes right. Hopefully my next entry will be sooner. Til
Havent had time to update the grow, but things are going great! Im in week 13 of veg and ready for flower finally! The girls are all ready except for one runt but im.not worried as the others are all pretty big rn.
Just got a hydro x system by trolmaster to serve as complete environmental controller for me and also remote control via internet while im.away at my day job.
I added a second net as a scrog 12inches above base of plants and have increased my original 4x8 tent to a 5x9 by cutting off tent and expanding the net surace area.
Im afraid to veg any longer as i know the stretch is alawys more than anticipated. Also, the roots are getting massive in the 13gal pots.
Safe time to start flowering now. Im excited and looking forward to the changes to come :)
Thanks for taking the time to read this and check out my journal. Any comments are welcome and appreciated!
Til next time,
Happy Growing!!!
Once again, I've gone far too long without a recent update on the girls.
Overall, I'd say things are going pretty smoothly. I had a leaking issue with my system and had to cut a bucket out. Luckily, it was just a runt plant and it almost is better without it as it gives more room for the stronger plants. So I'm now down to 7 plants
I discovered upon flowering, that some plants stretched incredibly tall while others barely grew much relatively speaking. The strawnana is now taller than me.
I have eliminated the led quantum bars I was using as I was u happy with the plants reaction to them and found they responded much better to HID. I also went and added an additional 600w hps. So I now have (2) 1kw and (1) 600w hps to cover the girls. I put the 600 above the taller plants, as canopy to light distance is becoming and issue in areas.
I cant wait to continue to watch the bud development continue
Til next time , happy growing!
