So today was I suppose classic newbie messing with the plant too much. I thought I could sink the stem into the coco a little so that it has more support but ended up breaking the stem. I rescued with a mini wooden spoon, some wire and sellotape. Overall she does not look happy at all!! Will check again in the morning 😞 any advice will be appreciated. No hate please, I realise my mistake but want to share for other first time growers. Lesson learnt, leave the plants alone! *** UPDATE *** She didn’t survive 😞 I’ve got another seed germinating overnight so will start a new diary.

Hi @Derbyspecks When plants are small they are quite fragile and should be treated like babies. these things happen, the important thing is to act quickly and fix the damage. the plant seems to me that it will survive, do not move it for about 3-5 days for it to recover, after about 7 days you can point a small fan blowing the wind gently so as not to knock it over and for it to shake slightly and gain strength in the stalk, the more the plant shakes the more the stalk thickens and gains strength. good luck mate 👍

unfortunately with young plants it happens. Nothing to do with being a n00b. Accidents happen even industrial growers tend to get it wrong sometimes all part of the learning curve you can actully stress plants at this stage but its not recommended alot of people start mainlining and training their plants from a young age which well deals more damage than a small accident but you did everything right you got some tape to help her and wire and the spoon to support her im sure she will bounce back. Harder and stronger. Just like our own skin when its broken its repaired stronger just the same with our beloved plants :) your doing great anyway pal. As my friend OG grows says a small fan around 7 days after the break will be perfect forr her to stiffen up them stems if your not adding silica to your feeding schedule that could be beneficial for good plant structure along with nute uptake. overall looking great pal best of luck with the rest of the run :)

@Doktorholland, I know. I had a small budget to work with and don’t necessarily need a HUGE yield. Will see how we go. Might add a second lamp of the same power as the plant matures. Think it was about £40 online.
