01/01/2018 - Day 21
I have taken the start of a new week and the new year to make some changes to growing conditions:
- in week 2, the nutrient water i was watering with was made up to a pH of 6.5 however this didnt reflect the pH of the coco coir as the runoff tested at 7.0 which is why i watered early last night (to flush excess alkaline buildup in the growth medium his week, using pH 5 water to water them
- dropped the height of the plants and lamp to 3 inches instead of five, to force them to grow bushy and short
- the light-on tent temps are starting to hit 32-33Β°C which im worried may cause some stunting due to heat stress, any solutions for closet growers?
- changed the position of the fans for venting; the extractor at the top above the lamp and the intake at plant-level.
just need to monitor effects of feeding and introducing cal-mag supplements on the extent of growth
04/01/18 - Day 24
Spent some spare time adjusting the pH of the growth medium because the run off was reading 7.2 pH which indicated a problem in the coco, flushed both plants with approximately pH 5 water until a run off of 5.75 was achieved to get approximately a 6.5 pH in the growth medium. used approximately 7.5L of the pH 5 water to flush and then fed them by hand. of course, this will lead to droopy leaves and some problems in the next few days but better i fixed the problem now rather than a month from now when it'll be an even bigger one. can expect some yellowing and curling, got some calmag coming tomorrow which should fix any problems
06/01/18 - Day 26
some major growth in the past few days, new nodes appearing and the plants are showing 3mm of growth overnight so possibly close to a half a cm per day. I've read this strain (and a lot of autos in general) tend to have a growth spurt around the 4th week which is what the girls are coming up to in the following days so fingers crossed we see some vertical growth over the next 3-4 days. ive been keeping the light like 2.5inches from the plants, seems to be doing pretty well but far might pull it further away to get them to stretch? limited on vertical height (50x50x100) so might be a better idea to keep em short - any tips would be appreciated.
One of the fan leaves on the runt is getting yellow, think this might be due to the overwatering from the other day causing the nitrogen levels to drop so i have provided some cal mag (enriched) in the latest watering (05/01/18) to help em get greener and perk up a lil hopefully.
Will be taking pictures at 48hr intervals from now, to go with the more frequent watering as the plants root system grows as well as a preventatitve measure to elimate any smell leaks
08/01/18
Think I've fucked up the first plant pretty badly; need to fix the pH asap. gonna keep using vinegar while i can but i've got some phosphoric acid coming on weds which would help. gonna flush with pH 6.0 plain water til i get a run off of 6.0 and that should maintain the pH till tomorrow evening. fingers crossed everything will turn out alright haha, other plant doing fine, some nice structure to it!
Hey bro, to me this is looking like caused by over watering, make sure that your medium is not moist before watering, sometimes the upper layer is but if you stick your finger you will see that there is water in the pot, another way is feeling the weight of the pot, and furthermore you can see how the plant react when you water, if you water and she droops is overwater, if drooping and bounces up after water she is underwater. You can implement a cal mag supplement to help correct the deficiencies, generally you give once a week than repeat if necessary. Suggest also, having a look on the EC too see if the nutes amount is correct. Good Luck, happy growing π
@CANNASIM, i've changed both of my fans to outake fans to get rid of as much hot air as possible and have a passive intake through a negative pressure and managed to drop it from 34C to 31C which is a start i think i'll need to invest in even more fans. some cheap PC ones should do i reckon. EC meter will be ordered later this week in addition to the cal mag supplement too. chucked a wet towel in there, will monitor humidity over the course of the next couple days - thanks for the advice, i've uploaded the first day of week 3 if you would be interested in taking a look! π
@Truro, ah if you can lower the temp to 26c would be great and rise the humidity to at least 60%, this crates a nice micro climat, for the humidity you can try raising by using keeping a wet towel in your grow.
@Truro, Hi there, no probl count on me.
One thing to observe is that autos like the final pot from scratch, as less stress you may do better, so next time try putting them directly in the final destination to avoid transplant shock and things that cause the girls to get stunt.
The EC, help a bit to know how much nutes are going in the medium, ππ»ππ» .
I suggest you give your girls some cal mag try one feed with it next watering, once a week and repeat if needed next week, i also see you gave only canna coco part B, as is a two part sistem donβt forget part A if that is the case, have a look on their suggested schedule for quantities and start lower then you increase slowly to the suggested dose controlling the leaves color, tips curling or burning for over fert.
You also may considere some roots enhancer, to keep it simple i suggest recharge that is just awesome if you want to give a go.
Well good luck, happy growing and happy new year! ππ»ππππ» Cheers
Looking good, mine is about 4 weeks behind where I wanted to be, although technically I'm still only on flowering week 7 since the buds formed properly... Week 15 overall :-
@Jerboa, thanks man, i'm pumped. one of the buds has gotten particularly smelly which is always a good sign. hope the storm hasnt affected temperatures too much buddy βΊοΈ
@Jerboa, I reckon the advertised times that these seedbanks are putting out should be increased by atleast 20% to come to being even close to realistic. This auto was meant to have a flower cycle of 45 days. that on top of a 3 week standard auto veg would put it at a little over 9 weeks and i'm still in mid flower at week 10 lmao π
@Truro, ππ»ππ»ππ if you see that the tips start to curl like nailing and burn is too much, just a tip if you run in to the opposite of you have now ππ»ππ» Cheers
@Lightbrave, cheers buddy was quite concerned as this is my first grow and i had some issues with germination but i'm glad to hear that it's common. any advice on nute feeds? I got CANNA A + B
@Truro, Yes, the rhizo and calmag are fine to add - I would just invest in some lower spectrum K lighting for the flowering period! Should be fairly cheap. Hope that helps.
@IndoorUKgrows, dude completely ignore what it says on the sensi website - this strain is not "fast" by any means, genuinely a pain in the ass. just wait it out and dont start your flush too early, more lighting is better and don't overnute. most importantly, see it out til the end it's all a valuable learning experience
@PigBearMan, thanks man - went for the whole spiral thing before flower but it just got out of hand π also, great work with your sea of whales! keep up the fantastic growing (+ the nautical puns)!
Wow those buds are starting to look like they juicing right up! Well done fair play mate. In my opinion, I would run her for two more weeks last being flushing. Looks like you giving her a few shocks in her grow so that could be 2 weeks of really slow growth which mean a longer flower, you even stretch another 3 weeks? Just talking from experience! But interesting to see how and when u harvest this beaut :flag-gb:
