First ever grow legally!!! Medical patient in IL. Been struggling with humidity during lights on, dipping below 40 before i bought humidifier. thinking about adding another during day to keep humidity higher than 45 or so. all plants seem to be doing ok, the smallest ones have been growing for about a week now, the larger ones are a couple days ahead. I think they are smaller than they should be due to some really low humidity issues early on before the humidifier, like around 30 with lights on. Trying out adding some fermentating yeast for tiny co2, not trying to boost yields or anything crazy, was just concerned passive air intake wouldn't be enough to fully recycle co2 for plants during lights on. I tend to adjust my fan a lot, trying to find my rhythm for humidity during the day. It usually is either on 75% or 100% power, 400cfm, but with carbon filter on, still pumps out decent cfm, just not sure of true output. Any tips for fixing my humidity issue, or any insight for my plant growth at this point would be much appreciated! peace and love.

Is humidity dipping below 35%, and sometimes under 30%, likely to be a reason for slower growth on my plants, based off of my setup and info?

Hi :-) Yes, that can be related. In the vegi phase you should maintain a humidity of 56-64% :-) I hope I could help you a little.

Week 2 has been concerning. I noticed little white larvae in the topsoil, and some small brown spots on older growth on 2 of the plants. I used a 30x magnifier to check under leaves, no visible mites or anything else crawling. I've ordered some neem oil to treat all the plants and the soil, should be here this Friday. Until then, I've been trying to only give enough water to keep them alive, hoping that drying the top of the soil out will help slow down whatever critter is in the soil til the neem oil gets here. Hopefully the neem oil doesnt hurt my super soil plants too much. I topped the random bag seed the beginning of this week, on 4/17. The other 2 super soil plants were topped yesterday morning, 4/22. Hopefully the other 2 plants don't get decimated by whatever bug i have, they seem to be growing MUCH slower than the other plants. I plan on keeping 4 main colas, however the grape punch seems to naturally want to bush out, so i might let one. Did some minor pruning of older fan leaves once plants were topped. I don't plan on doing any other training from this point beyond LST to keep canopy even, and topping the other 2 plants once they get a few more nodes. Other than that, I'm just waiting for them all to get about 1.5ft tall then flip to 12/12

One cola on each of the 2 recently topped grape punch plants in super soil have started growing 3 fan leaves per node. I believe that's known as a whorled flower?? Is this just an uncommon mutation, or something to be concerned about?

Nothing to be concerned about , once in full flowering the stems are growing in an asymmetrical way even if you have 3 stems per nodes. I had experienced that variations on some of my plants and most of the time the only problem is that they are more leafy than regular plants so the buds are a bit harder to trim. I don’t know the name of that mutation (edit : it is whorled phylotaxy ) Edit : It's important to note that whorled phylotaxy (plants growing three or four leaves/branches per internode) is not the same as polyploidy. The two terms are often confused. One reason for the confusion of the two ideas is that both refer to a 'doubling' of cannabis plants - genes in one case, foliage in the other. Polyploidism can only be confirmed through genetic mapping

Sorry for the late post guys, life is bonkers atm. We are in the process of moving, so my time has been split thin lately. So, the pictures are a day or two into week 3, but they seem to be pretty split as far as performance. The 2 plants in super soil are kickin ass and are beautiful! Lots of foliage growth after defoliating beginning of week 2. The others... well I still love them, BUT... As you can see, the random bag sees looks terrible(best Charles Barkley voice). It’s growth has been very slow, it has not responded well to topping or defoliation. I’m just letting it grow and hoping it comes back with a vengeance. The other 2 grape punch not in super soil look much better than the random seed, but pale in comparison to their S.S. counterparts. I believe that these little white larvae have taken their toll on the other plants, where the SS plants were able to fend them off better, or that’s my best guess anyway. My neem oil arrived today, and I kept wondering if the SS was what made the difference for the 2 healthy plants. So here’s what I did. I removed topsoil from the 3 lagging plants until I saw roots. I then put maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick layer of SS in each plants pot and topped off with happy frog soil. Then I mixed 3 tablespoons of neem oil into a gallon of water and sprayed around 5 ounces of that solution all over the soil of each plant. I will be reapplying the solution every other day for the next week and check for larvae again. I’m hoping between the amendment of SS and neem oil, I can kill these things off and bring vigor back to the 3 plants. Any experienced growers that see glaring red flags I’m missing or have an easier way to do it, please lemme know!! I’d really appreciate it.
