Glad to have selected my Blueberry to compete in the Zamnesia Spring Contest! Conditions of the contest are to use the provided ‘Zamnesia Monster Buds’ nutrient mix only, so I spent some time creating a good base for these nutrients. Local soil, perlite, vermiculite, and mychorriza all added to the mix, creating a well aerated, moisture holding, nutrient transporting soil for my already beloved ‘Victor’.
It’s been a cold week with some cold nights. One day even a hail storm passed my region. Luckily, it hasn’t damaged any part of Victor, but I can only conclude that day Victor hasn’t been a happy plant. Luckily now (during the time of writing this) on day one week three, sun is strong and temperatures are up. Also, weather forecast seems good so I can’t wait to share next weeks results!
A similar week to week two. Warmer days, but the nights are still cold. I’m pretty sure other contestants’ plants grow larger and quicker, however I will stand by my philosophy of growing what climate and fixed start conditions are going to bring. Keep it up Victor!
Finally the nights are getting warmer, because those cold nights must be tough for little Victor. Now, with nights of +- 15 degrees Celsius, I can clearly see the growth rate increasing. Victor definitely looks happier!
Week 5 was very similar to week 4. Warm conditions and mild night temperatures. I can now clearly notice how their thirst increases. Drinks have now doubled to 1 liter / plant, which might also have to something to do with evaporation from the soil, however.
The weather this week varied much. We’ve seen warm days and rainy days. One strong thunderstorm as well. I notice an increase in weight, however, Victor only gained 3 cm in height.
It’s waaaaarm! This Blueberry is really growing a lot of mass, however mostly in width and density. I’m now watering twice a day and I keep watering until the water starts running through the bottom of the pot.
Victor must be almost finished by now. Taking a closer look through a x60 microscope the trichomes mostly look transparent, some cloudy. Pistils are turning brown, about 30% I would estimate. I predict this is the last week before harvest.
Greetings from Russia! Your plants look great! Keep developing in the same spirit! if you are interested in following the adventures of weed in Russia, subscribe to my diaries
Looks good! I'm also starting with the Blueberry Automatic this spring, seedlings are currently in the propagator but I will put them in their final pots in about a day or two (and start my first grow journal). I was also wondering what the ratio of soil:perlite:vermiculite is that you are using for this grow? I was thinking of the ratio 7:2:1 and then adding 4 grams of mychorrhizae to the soil and sprinkling some on the roots of the seedlings before planting them.
@Jonko_Ono, The ratio soil: perlite:vermiculite is 5:2:1. I also added a whole bag of Zamnesia food and 5 grams of mycho (4 in soil and one very close to the root zone. How are yours doing now?
