I wanted to grow a Sativa variety to see how it copes with the U.K. climate. I’m 50/50 on how this will result as we can get a lot of rain around harvest time.
Going 100% organic compost. Lots of coffee grinds and banana skins. I’m new to this so it’s all a learning curve. Let’s see how it goes...
Terrible week of weather. Heavy rain, overcast and generally miserable. Pot got blown over.
Depressing week really but the plant has survived. On the bright side we have an almost unlimited vegetation period so after it recovers we should get back on track.
I’ve put half a plastic bottle around it just to give it a degree of protection from the weather.
Weather this week has been atrocious. Rain, clouds and no real direct sunlight. However today has been a scorcher and you can already see the little fella coming out of hibernation.
Hopefully the sun holds out and we can start to see some real growth this week.
Worth noting that this genetic struggles with the colder nights we have been having. If I had the space I would bring it inside.
We have months before this baby will flower so it’s no big deal. I’m still confident it will become huge by then. 😉
Nice sunny week.
Have stopped putting this fella into the greenhouse overnight now.
Nice growth this week. Will be topping it and mainlining soon.
Blending in nicely with the other plants in the garden. He can stay for now but once it recovers from the mainlining I will be transplanting.
Another week of glorious sunshine. Seems weird to write that three weeks in a row from the U.K.
Huge amounts of growth this week. Over doubled in height. I’m hoping it will start to “fill out” a little this week.
Moved it into a PVC greenhouse. Will keep it here for now.
Nothing much to report this week. Average weather. Sun seems to have disappeared again so growth has slowed.
Still just feeding run off from my aquarium and coffee grinds. Seems to be enough. Quite a tall plant.
Will be keeping this fella in the garden during flowering. Although, I am concerned about the high yield/smell ratio. I’ll see how it goes.
Harvest is stated as September but in the U.K. I’m guessing that this will be slightly later?
Not much sun this week although still growing slow and steady.
The greenhouse is a little crowded currently but this guy should have it to himself within the next 5 weeks. Just waiting for the auto’s to finish flowering.
I was planning to transplant to a guerilla location but I think it will need the cover from the rain. Other growers mention that the buds get so big they cannot support themselves and I can’t take care of that here.
I really haven’t put the effort into this grow as much as I should have. I rushed into planting it but it has such a long time until it flowers I’m still optimistic that I can pull it back.
I will add some fertiliser when the soil dries out. It’s rained a lot recently so I’m watering almost once every week now.
Nice week. The sun has made its return to the U.K. and immediately you can see the improvement.
Feeding aquarium run off, coffee grinds. I prepared the soil with banana peel, egg shells and coffee grinds before I potted up and you can see the difference it has made. I haven’t had any problems with nutrition. (I think)
Just started to sprout pre-flowers which is earlier than I was expecting. There is a gentle smell but more so than the full flowering NL.
All in all, a great week. I can’t wait to see this little chestnut start packing on some buds.
This plant is getting big. Topped it twice now. Will begin to LST it this week. Unfortunately this will result in this guy hogging the sunlight from my NL autos. However without the LST I think he will outgrow the space. (1.5m)
Gorgeous smell already. Strawberry and skunk. I’m in a residential street so I’m a bit concerned about the future of this scent.
It started to pre-flower on the longest day of the year which is a bit odd. Not sure if it was just stress. Time will tell. There is a part of me that hopes it’s an auto that got mixed up as he’s massive already.
If this puppy can make it to harvest without stinking out the street then I should be in for a cracking yield.
This is the only plant I have that I pre prepared the soil for. It shows.
This plant is a beast. Can’t wait for it to switch to flowering and start packing on some buds.
I will give it some LST to properly fill its space but I’m just waiting for a couple of auto’s to finish up.
I think it will be great. High hopes.
