Another decent week of growth!
Plant B was showing signs of being female, so it was transplanted into a 5L SIP bucket with the same soil. It was then flipped to a 12/12 schedule.
Plant A didn’t show any decisive pre-sex. So it’s been put on hold. Maybe it’ll crop up again in another grow.
Interestingly enough, the two plants show different phenotypes. Plant B is a good deal stretchier and has marginally thinner leaves (making me believe it’s Thai leaning?) and smells more citrusy. While plant A is broader and has much less stretch (the “from below” pictures show this well enough) and smells more pungent. So it could be an African-tending pheno. I got these impressions from reading the ICmag page on Zamaldelicas (https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=232614&page=20 - I hope I can post links).
That said I know this is just a selection of two plants. So any real comparisons are not very accurate. But it’s fun no less.
Next week we get to see the stretch! Hopefully it’s kept under control... happy growing.
First week of flowering is done!
It didn’t stretch too bad. But it’s probably somewhat stunned with the pot change and the flip (and add to that the cold).
But she’s looking ok. Did more training on day 5 of the week and it’s all I can do. Now I just have to let it grow.
The sip system seems to be happy. It drank ~1L in the week and the soil seems just right (just a finger test).
Also changed out the lights. Added an extra bulb and a shoddy COB led. Gone from 11,000 lm to 31,000 lm at the current canopy height (~15cm?). Hopefully it’ll do.
I am glad that the cold weather isn’t hampering this plant too much. It seems it’s a pretty resilient, contrary to what I’d expected.
It really filled out this week. And the stretching has started in ernest. Of the two plants that were started, this one is a good deal more stretchier. So we will see how things progress with regards to height (the other plant has become a house plant while it’s not in a bucket, it’s impressive to see the difference that the right conditions will make).
One light died. So the lux at canopy are now at 28,000 (down from 31,000). Some incoming goodies should remedy this.
It smells nice too, rubbing the stem brings out a strong smell, although nothing too particular (no mango carrot here I think). There is currently no fan in the bucket, but a small amount of agitation would probably help it.
Happy growing all.
Hey again all,
Still growing well stretching. Although the stretching between bud sites seems a little shorter. Maybe it’ll have to try tie her down a bit more next week.
Smell is getting stronger but still weak and I added a downwards fan blowing the air from the lights into its leaves. It seems happy with that.
Again drank a little over 1L and the soil is damp. Nothing much else to report.
Happy growing.
Hello again dear growers.
Man this thing stretches! I read that they tend to do so for ~4 weeks. So it should be near enough done now. Hopefully, there’s not that much space left and I added the one spacer I have.
This week I rearranged it’s lst “hooks”, the canopy was starting to bunch up, and some colas were a little starved for light. So this should have helped. I also did some light defoliating at the bottom and picked off the early popcorn buds - may smoke test them out of excitement.
As for bucket modifications; added some side light led’s, only about 12w, and added a 30w CoB, so now we’re up to around 105w (napkin maths, I need a power meter!). I was lazy and didn’t check the lumens.
Nearly half way to flowering, but still a long way left. The journey should be a good one tho. Also, I have doubts about the longevity of the soil. Fingers crossed it’ll be just enough.
Till next time!!
Another week, another week.
She’s finally starting to smell! Smells good, sweet and flowery at this stage.
Stretching has more or less stopped (got a little taller) and she’s slowly thickening pistils.
More fans have been added so hopefully keep things agitated. Also I think it’s drinking a little more than it’s allotted ~950ml of water a week. Probably not a terrible thing to have it dry out it’s pot.
Some colas are looking better than others. Hopfully they’ll all catch up. Forgot a top-down photo this week, sadly.
Happy growing.
Into week seven we go!
Not the best week last time.
There seems to be signs of the beginning of nitrogen deficiency. Yellowing if the lower leaves. Since this is to be a soil grow, I was hoping that it would be enough for a long flowering sativa, but I should have used a hotter mix when re-potting. Instead I use a lighter starter mix. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it.
To remedie this, I added some amendments and a layer of mulch to try give a nice kick.
If it’s much worse by next week I’ll add some fertiliser, no point it wasting three months of growth.
Other then that the plant seems good. It’s fattening up. I also added an internal fan last week. Although that may have been a mistake as a number of its leaves have turned purple with the subsequent drop in temperature.
Speaking of which, the forecast for Europe this week is pretty dire. Lots of polar air, so more discolouration is expected! Though it’s really quite pleasing to look at. Though I did finally measure it’s height- 30cm at its highest.
That’s about all. Happy growing peeps.
Yo.
Another week, another week.
Considering the nitrogen didn’t get worse (it also didn’t better), I decided to give some fertiliser. Better that then hamper its progress for nothing. Too bad for my poor soil mix, lol.
It was just generic plant flowering food. So Iv no idea if it’s enough. I don’t really know what I’m doing when it comes to all that.
But anyway. Now a new concern: a top layer of supplements was added last week, with a lot of coffee grounds for nitrogen. This may have been a mistake. Doing some reading, long flowering sativas like low nitrogen at the end of their cycle. As it helps to trigger an end to flowering, since photoperiodism isn’t as strong closer towards the equator. Anyway, this probably isn’t too much a concern as this thing was probably bred to avoid all of that. But it’ll be fun to keep an eye out for.
I was finally around to see how the sip system works. And it looks like it’s not working great. It just sucks up all the water in 24hours, so it’s not very gradual at all... maybe fewer wicks will help.
That’s about all.
Happy growing.
Won’t be around next week. So sadly the update - a -week trend won’t be fully continued.
Other then that she’s growing away, I was going to remove the “cover crop”, but I noticed some nice fungi growing, so I left it.
Did a bit of lst, but the central stem started to splinter open and one branch split. So I wrapped them with parafilm and let it be. The branches seem to keep moving around. I really hope it’s not too much stress that she’ll start to hermi.
That’s about all, not much happens this week.
happy growing folks.
Missed a week, but that just makes the progress a little more evident. End of week 10 here.
Smell is now stronger, and more of that “cannabis in flower” smell, still sweet and flowery. Harder to tell the smells and details.
Looking good though. Maybe one or two weeks more.
Stay safe and happy growing!
The waiting game....
Hard not to get impatient at this stage. Triches are very slowly maturing, it seems like maybe even two more weeks will be needed.
Te lower leaves are gradually becoming more and more mangled, so its getting there.
When do you all like to harvest? when amber triches become apparent, with more of them, or earlier instead?
Stay safe & good vibes.
Harvest time. 12 weeks of flower was reasonable, pretty resistant to the cold, made come colours come out. Also not too bad to handle. Stayed at 30 cm (1foot) after stretch.
The soil mix seems ok and didn’t seem to hold things back. Smells nice. It has a turpentine-mango smell, also still pretty pungent. Hevier smell than in earlier flowering weeks. Lost it’s flowery smell. Clearly still sweet too.
Decent yield, buds are pretty dense and the lower ones matured well. Not too many amber triches.
I won’t be able to test the high for a while. But I gave some to a friend. So I’ll be able to post something. Also the yield will be updated when cured for a month. At 75-80% moisture/stem it should give about 32-40 grams cured.
Thanks for coming along all! Vibes ✌️
@bobo420, I bought a good deal of their stuff (relatively) so ill be growing out their gear for the next while :)
Yeah smell is great! Very sweet.
They're looking pretty vigorous alright, those roots will take whatever whenever ;P BTW, sent you a pm to not clog things up
@EnYouPee, yeah ACE sure have some astonishing strains, would love to grow them all :)
She's coming along nicely I bet she smells nice :)
Yeah I'm growing Afghans - they are coming along nicely, didn't have a chance to transplant them sooner, but they look nice and healthy
@bobo420, Absolutely, the other stuff i'v grown has been good, but i'm hoping the exotic strains will be.... well exotic, hah.
Love ACE's gear alright, they do some killer breeding. Speaking of which, just noticed you're growing out a landrace, i'll keep my eyes peeled! ;) may pick up some indica next to get a more substantial yield.
@victor_lion, Hey! In the end I think I harvested it a week late. So it’s rather mellow. Still a super clear high with lots of energy and not racy or anxious. Lives up to the good name regardless
@@TyrolaRasta, Hey man! I just realised i completely misunderstood your comment, had it in my head the last week, haha. For some reason i was thinking of the flowering plant, and the house plant didnt come to mind. When i was looking at the lateral buds they seemed to have pistils... But I dont know why it didnt click for me! Yeah, would be super to have some pollen, for sure ;) cheers!
@@TyrolaRasta, Hey! I'm away form it for a couple of weeks, so I dont know if will have hermied (hopefully not!! :P) But i dont know if pollen from a hermied female plant will carry that genetic tendancy. Probably not tbh. But there are pollen chucking plants for the future!! ;)
@bobo420, haha I know, it’s aweful lol :P it’s a poor attempt at a mulch layer, to help keep the top moist where I added the extra soil mix. It’s not doing much :P
that LED distance 8 in should give you the coloration youre looking for
just be careful not to singe the buds or they'll lose a bit of flavor, potentially potency and mass too
plant looking real good dude
@Jaindoh, Not gonna complain about the colours! I always heard it was temperature related.
Hopefully they don't get damaged, all pretty tight in there. Thanks man.
@Zannabis7,
Hey Zannabis, thanks.
It is a pretty interesting strain! Ace seeds started with landraces and sativas and started stabilising them and then making hybrids - that got me pretty interested to start with. I’m surprised not to have seen any of their gear here, since they’re listed.
Zamaldelica is Zamal x Golden Tiger (Malawi x Thai), Iv heard a lot of great things about this strain and it’s been a goal to grow some since I started. There’s some good threads on icmag about Ace’s gear and crosses people have made, if you want to see how they can turn out. Hopefully this zamaldelica will turn out well! I bought a bunch of their stuff, so hopefully 2018 will feature some more interesting grows. Always happy to talk strains!
