As from my other diary with RQS Easy Bud, I will be trying also the Royal Dwarf and Northern Light, both automatic.
I'm using two different germination techniques, although using a heat map to maintain a sweet temperature (24/25 celsius) on both seeds.
On the northern light I'm using the paper towel technique as usual and on the royal dwarf I'm using a peat pellet.
We are betting that, the northern will germinate fist, therefore being ready to be moved to the soil first, however we believe that due the peat pellet, the royal dwarf will grow faster and strong once moved to the soil.
As stated in my first diary, this is all experimental, just a hobby therefore I'm doing it for the scientific fun of discovering these things.
Will keep you posted on this.
Happy Growing
The same as easy bud, the main objective for this week was to introduce the 18/6 light cycle.
No signs of stress and I believe Royal Dwarf adapted really well.
She also has been transplanted to a bigger pot with better soil.
I was almost losing my hope on her growth but things seem to be better now.
As for the northern lights, she is also growing faster, responded very well to the light cycle.
In my Non-Pro opinion, the 24 hours light cycle worked until now.. However I believe I was lucky for not killing all the plants as they had no resting period.
These are my first grows and I was advised to keep the 24h until flowering stage but honestly.. I guess it's just a waste of money in electricity (even though I'm using CFL's) .. And it can go really wrong. Lucky I.
At this point I have not yet decided if I will continue to grow these two strains inside the DarkBox. I have been thinking of moving them outside and let them grow naturally. I don't believe they will complete their grow, due malformations. Still, I have added 100w of light.
I have germinated two other seeds from the same strains and they appear to be growing better/faster than these two in the same conditions.
Having some free space inside the DarkBox would allow me to germinate a different strain.
New grow conditions. New lights, etc.
Did some late LST on the Northern Light. The Royal Dwarf is not big/tall enough. Everything seems to be fine, despite their sizes. I'm not expecting much of a yield from these two as from the very beginning they showed signs of "dwarfism".
Introduced the nutrients to help thing developing faster.
Recovering from a stunted growth, they have been developing really well over the last week. Currently have 2 northern lights and 2 royal dwarfs in the flowering stage.
Well, we had our ups and downs during this grow. The overall experience is positive however I don't think I will be growing this one again. The buds were smaller when compared with the other strains I grew and she was a little slower than the others. The taste is nice and the smell too however I thought the outcome would be heavier.
Small buds but the high is impressive. After only one week of curing, I got couch locked for around 4 hours. Really relaxed. I also did this one with some friends and we laughed a lot for hours. I will definetely grow this one again. Recommend!
I almost lost my faith on the peat pellet germination for the Rowal Dwarf seed. Nevertheless, despite growing slower, the seedling seems to be growing stronger. I don't know if it is something specific from this strain and I am still protecting her from direct and strong light, nevertheless she is definitely stronger when compared with all the other 3 I am growing right now. New pictures will be uploaded today.
@@NobodysBuds, thank you for the information. It was much appreciated.
Regarding the sunlight, I have upgraded the lights in my grow tent and gave up on CFL's. They are now bathing under an HPS 250w dual (grow+bloom).
They seem to enjoy it a lot and they are also growing faster. I think all together, better controlled water (PH 6.4), better light and the nutrients are helping a lot.
Happy growing to you and thank you again for the information.
On the 5th day of growing, the Royal Dwarf continues to be smaller than the others when comparing the ages. I don't know if this is due the fact of being germinated in the pea pellet, however I was hopping that she would grow faster after being planted. I'm still protecting her from strong/direct light, since her leafs are still too small.
