This is my first grow with Sonoma seeds. I purchased a pack of 5 and I germinated 4. These are currently set up in my grow tent, but I will be planting these as my outdoor plants in a few weeks. I saved a seed because I would like to see the difference in indoor vs outdoor. So far not too much to report, other than it was 100% germination rate and these girls are looking forward to their summer in northern Ontario. Cheers.

The last week I have been taking them outside periodically to harden them up before putting them in the ground. Days are now around 10-15 degrees, and nights at the lowest are around 5. I’m planning on planting them in the next week, covering them up near the end of the day, with a small plastic tent. I will be planting two in the garden and two behind the garage. I chose to do two and two incase I get a bad pest problem due to outdoor, I can better manage, and maybe avoid pests on some plants all together. Cheers.

Well they made it outside. The nights are still cool ~ 6 degrees, I have been covering them up around 9 pm and taking the plastic off in the morning. Because I started them inside under lights, I had some yellowing of the leaves, I think I slightly scorched them one day while I left them in the sun to get used to the new light. Overall two days in the ground now, I think they survived the transplant. I gave them a generous Amount of water around the roots today because it’s around 25 degrees. I germinated 4 seeds and you can clearly see in my picture, two seedlings are tall and the same height, and two are small and bushy, also the same height. Two very different phenotypes indeed. Purple kush outdoor autoflower here we come! Cheers.

Well I had a mishap this week. I planted 4 purple kush, two were very small and two grew like weeds. After putting them in their new home outdoors, one of the smaller ones did not make it. I think it was a combination of not being healthy enough for the transplant and possibly bugs got at it. Due to its size, shock and like a shitty seed genetics, It died. Pour one out for my homie. Anyways I have three outside for the summer now, and are doing great. That’s all for this week! Enjoy the sun! Cheers.

I doubled up in the journal entry because I neglected to do one for 2 weeks. There really hasn’t been much to report other than one of the plants is a real dud. It’s growing so small and looks like crap. They are growing outdoor so I’m mainly going to let Mother Nature take her course until flower, when I will start nutes. Cheers.

Well it’s been about a week. Few unexpected frosty mornings in northern Ontario, I had to cover them up three times in the last week. Fear not, sunny skies ahead. I noticed some small preflowers on two of them the other is still straggling behind. I gave them a treatment of insecticide because I noticed an aphid and I want to tackle the problem before they get into flower and I can’t apply soap anymore. Anyway they are enjoying the rays, hope you are too. Cheers. ☀️

These girls started their pre flower. I have three growing, two are tall and lanky, showing no signs of purple. I looked at the small one yesterday and noticed black. I though it was bugs, looking a bit closer it is purple cylaxes and buds starting to form! Too bad the bigger ones likely won’t show purple. Truthfully I’m not sure I will grow this strain again due to the crazy variability in genetics. I had a small one that also died at the start of this journal. Anyways, here they are looking fine, see you all next week. Cheers.

The sun is shining and these girls are loving it. I gave them a dose of bloom booster the other day. It probably won’t help much because it will run through the soil, but I’ll feed them anyway. They have started flowering it will be nice not to have to cover them in the fall, autoflower a are the way to go in Ontario. That’s about all for now, get out there and enjoy the sun! Cheers.

Another week down. As some of you will see, from the three purple kush autos one defiantly has the characteristics of a “purple kush plant” it is very small with odd shaped buds and almost purpley/black. The other two are monsters with no purple traits. I did loose a plant at the start that was also stunted, which likely would have produced another “purple budded” plant. Anyway it has been hotter than hell here, and they pretty much survived a hurricane and tornado, so I think these girls will finish out the summer just nice. I gave them a feed of some cal mag and some fox farms tiger bloom. Other than that they be chillin. Enjoy the weather! Cheers.

There isn’t a ton to report this week other than the two behind my garage are on their stretch, and the one in the garden is bulking up. It has been raining a lot here, I gave all two big dosages of cal/mag and tiger bloom. I figured most of the nutrients were washing through the soil. I haven’t noticed any nute burns, so I’ll likely keep feeding them once a week. I did some bud backbuilding on my garden plant about a week ago, because the other two didn’t look as developed, i snipped the tip of the buds on the other two about two days ago. I think overall I should have a pretty good yield this summer, I wish I had a bit more purple buds, but hey🤷‍♂️ Purple kush none the less. I’m signing out for the week, thanks for tuning in. Cheers.

Purple kush auto, almost 5 weeks of flower maybe 4 more to go . Is this normal? Sugar leaves twisting and curling? I haven’t really seen this before. The leaves are pointing straight up, lots of sun? Thanks

The reaching up/praying position is a good sign. Indoors, it's how I know my light is just right. The leaves are looking a bit dark though, cut back on the N, or if you don't have much N, there's a chance your booster is too strong. If you're using little N and no booster, I'm at a loss for ideas.

Another week down, I can’t wait to try this stuff. The one in my garden looks like it’s done pushing white pistols, they have started to go red and die back. The purple one and the other large one behind my garage are still pushing pistols and a bit further behind. I think from here on in I’ll just let them go. I think my tiger bloom has a bit too much nitrogen for late flower, I’m just hoping the big one behind my garage frosts up a bit more. The tricombs mostly are clear to cloudy, and considering they are still pushing pistols, they still have a few weeks to go. I can taste the finish line. Cheers.

Alright, bad news ladies and gents, I got the bud rot. It’s been humid as hell here and I think the buds were way to dense and not drying. I noticed it by inspecting the buds. As bud rot rots from the inside out, I noticed a few “out of place” leaves on the buds that were brown. From my experience with late season bud rot last year I knew right away. I peeled open the bud and sure enough rot. I looked around a bit more and found it in a few more places, I decided right away to take the large buds, and leave some on the plant to mature. The big green behind the garage, I also found some on one bud, I cut and tossed it. The purple one has no rot yet, I think because of the spacing between the bud sites, it’s not dense. Anyway here is a partial harvest, and some bud rot pics. I’m letting them finish, I’ll just keep an eye on them. Pray for dry weather for me. Cheers.

Well I thought i had everything wrapped up in a neat little package this summer..boy was i wrong. Today I’m going to finish cutting the plant in the garden honestly, it looks like it’s ripening, but I don’t want to risk additional rot.i have aphids now fucking aphids!i gave them an a spray the other day followed by a rinse. picked one of the purple buds for a quick dry, it’s tough to tell if it’s done because it’s purple, I might take that one this weekend. The last big one behind my garage is just rotting. The nicest most beautiful big buds are turning sour. I inspect them twice a day and it seems like every time I look, there is a new rot spot. I’ve thrown out too many nice buds to waste the whole plant, they quote a 9-10week flower and I’m around week 8 I might be taking the last of my summer grow in the next week or so. See you next week. Cheers.

Well I’m closing this one out. I had a lot of problems with humidity outside and bud rot, in hindsight i read a few reviews in the last few weeks and purple kush is susceptible to bud rot. I did 2 separate harvest, one on the 9th and one on the 14th. I collected everything I could smoke, there is still buds left on the plants but because of bud rot and immature buds I’m saying fuck it. Sonoma seeds quotes 9-10 weeks flower i harvested at week 8 and week 9. I harvested just shy of a pound total, and just over and oz of “purple” looking weed. Between you guys and i, the purple one was pretty shwaggy as far as bud goes. Would i grow this again outdoors? NOPE. Would i try it indoors? You will have to stay tuned for my next grow. If you plan to grow this strain outdoors do not do it. The fact that it’s pretty much 100%indica it does not like to get wet,🤦‍♂️🏻 if you are in the desert, indoors or live in Afghanistan (lineage) go for it. The taste is also not quite what I expected, all the reviews say grapes, but i taste a neutral taste. Some of it smells quite good in the jars but as soon as you smell each bud it smells like spicy woody herb with some dank undertone. Trimming it i had some sort of dank spicy smell i just can’t put my fingers on, except it was all over them. The buzz is “ok”but nothing to knock your socks off with. It is a stimulating feeling followed by a calm “not sleepy” feeling. I haven’t grown many outdoor variety’s but I’m sure most of them turn out the same. I’m waiting for my indoor no name to finish and I can start trying to redeem myself with my leftover seeds, and hopefully get the true quality/if there is, with this purple kush strain. Fall indoor; here i come. Thanks for tagging along. Cheers. Update: decided to make bubble hash with it. Update 2: pressed some hash into some shatter
