Hi, this is my very first grow! I'm growing the GSK auto from fastbuds. At the time of writing I'm actually on week 6. Some of my pics are over exposed because I took them under light but had no intention of diarying this- however, it's only going to be my first grow one time so changed my mind and here I am!
I'm also growing photo skunk #1 by white label seeds and I'll diary that separately. That was kind of by accident but doing well nonetheless!
I had some.issues with humidity dropping this week so tried everything like pans of water etc only to buy a humidifier. I got one on Amazon for £40 and it stays on a whole 24 hours keeping the humidity on 70. It fills with 4l of water and is low cost to run.
4 weeks and explosive growth! Upped nutes again and lowered light quite significantly, found the sweet spot for both. I had an accident with LST- snapped the main stem and this time held it together with some tape and bound it to a ruler
This is where I'm currently at and I think it's looking pretty hopefull! Having slight issues in keeping the humidity down to a good amount so got a dehumidifier and I'm hovering around the 50% mark. They are certainly thirsty, going through about 3l a day!
I think I'm getting a bit of a nitrogen deficiency, so have upped the nutes to bottle recommended levels (7ml) hopefully they can take it. The boost definitely seems to have helped the buds thicken up! Any comments, tips or follows appreciated.
Pics are from the first day of week seven. Looking good but bud is sparse on branches in places. Is this due to stretch? Will it fill out or just be popcorn?
Had such fun growing this strain so far and thanks for looking!
These were taken on day 2 of week 8. Hardly any of the hairs are amber at this point and the majority of the trichomes are clear (I think! It's hard to tell even with a 60x loupe) the smell is really sweet, like sherbet and the buds are very slowly thickening up.
Does anyone know what is causing the leaf to curl on this one plant? Generally if I've had cigaring leaves it's been too close to the light. So I thought it might be heat as I lowered my light. I put it back up but it's still like it. It's the one closest to the bigger oscillating fan so wondered if it might be wind burn, so I've swapped it for a shorter plant. It's not the tallest plant of the four so there are others closer to the light anyway and they are largely fine. Wondering if it's a root issue?
Also, can anyone give me a heads up of when to start flushing? Am I waiting for trichome/hair changes or does that come when you flush? Thanks for looking!
Day 1 of week 9. Don't think there has been much of a change during this week. It doesn't seem like they are filling out right now. It doesn't look like any trichs are amber yet so I'm just checking daily to see what changes!
Can anyone tell me when to flush? Do I wait for the trichs to change first?
Thanks for looking.
Ps this is just 2 of the plants from 4 pic wise
Pics taken 2 days into week 10. Still not seeing any amber trichomes but almost over night the leaves have yellowed and are really crispy. They aren't ready to drop off it seems-
Ive read conflicting info about whether this is meant to happen, can anyone advise? Is it time to flush/chop?
At week 11 today. I chopped one of 4 plants on Saturday because she just looked like she'd had enough of life! The trichs were still mainly clear (so perhaps a bit early) but I made some cannabutter from the trim and WOW, that was me and another high for a solid 24 hours on just around 0.5g. I've left the buds to dry, it was 13oz wet. The smell is sweet, kinda like papaya.
The other three have been on plain pH water and have packed on some weight. I took off the tired leaves so I could really see what was going on. For the best part they look pretty good. Only slight yellowing on some of the sugar leaves on one plant. I noticed they are pretty much all cloudy and saw one or two amber's so I'll give it a day or so and they are getting the chop. I'm pretty happy that this has got this far for a first grow. I can't even keep herbs alive generally!! Can't wait for the next grow- thanks to all who've had some input!
This my very first grow. I can't normally keep herbs alive and I had my fair share of disasters with this plant, from stem breakages (fixed with a tape and a ruler) and calculating nutes incorrectly. I LSTd and topped (accidentally initially) and left 2 alone. The ones left alone had the biggest yeild with 13oz wet.
It's really hard for a first time grower to grow without the input of others, particularly if you aren't a science type person. Grow diaries and the users who've commented have really helped me make decisions about how to handle the girls. What I've learnt is there's never a right or wrong way of doing something and a lot of your success is based on intuition! This my very first grow. I can't normally keep herbs alive and I had my fair share of disasters with this plant, from stem breakages (fixed with a tape and a ruler) and calculating nutes incorrectly. I LSTd and topped (accidentally initially) and left 2 alone. The ones left alone had the biggest yeild. I harvested at different stages, but within days. The trics were probably at 1% amber, 80% cloudy and the rest clear. A test smoke of a dry bud in a pipe which had been cured for a few days gave me a fun, giggly high that lasted a long time with rolling body effects that left me feeling reallllly good. I made butter out of the fresh wet trim of one plant (2oz of trim) and made 113g of knock out butter. Just a teaspoon had my flying for 24 hours.
I was growing these 4 ladies, along with 4 non-auto skunk 1# which have been in veg mode for the whole time. They are beasts right now and I will start a diary for them to document the progress.
@Yeswehavenobananas,yeah I'd agree with the other guys flush and chop the extra yellowing could be due to extra heat but she looks ready to be flushed and chopped happy growing buddy
Looking incredible!! I'd definitely say to cut the nutes and perform a solid flush if you haven't already. I'd wager that any day now (possibly even within a 1 day span) your Trichomes are gonna start ripening to Amber! I like around 30% Amber Trichs on my grows personally. Real good job here!! (Dont forget to make a Harvest video and submit to @Fast_Buds Mega Haul competition!)
@BudKingsGrow, thanks! Yeah I'm gonna give it a day or so more from today on just water. I think I saw a couple amber today. So close! Thanks for the the top re harvest video
Looking amazing!! The Curling leaves doesn't necessarily mean anything (Plants will cycle daily with raising & lowering leaves as the rest and produce). Your Buds are looking amazing too! Great density and plenty of Bud Site!! @Fast_Buds and Yourself should be proud of these results 😀 I'd recommend to wait until you get to around 20% amber and 80% milky Trichomes to harvest (that's just my preference). The color of hairs can go any way, but the Trichs are the indicator you are shooting for.
@Yeswehavenobananas, It's hard to tell from pics but I believe most of your Trichs are still clear. Once you start seeing those Ambers in the mix, use your loupe again and you should be able to tell when She's getting ready!
Man is she looking good! Once you see about 30% amber Trichomes is when I start my flush. Every grower will have a slightly different method, but thats what I've always rolled with! Shouldn't be much longer until She's there 😀
