I purchased 3 seeds and they got posted through the letterbox on the 28th March. I placed the 3 seeds onto wet paper towel on the 3rd April and the taproot showed itself by the 5th April, all 3 seeds cultivated. I then placed the seed using tweezers so that I don't damage the root into Plant Magic compost. I placed clingfilm over the pot to keep the moisture and humidity inside and placed them onto my windowsill, until the seedling showed.
I am a first time grower, who fancies a challenge, I've got no fancy equipment and I am planning on growing eventually outdoors when the risk of frost has passed.
I have used no nutrients so far in my grow.
Week 2 and the growth has come on a considerable amount, I was impressed with how much my 3 plants have come on.
Not really much to write about because all I am doing is sunny windowsill and a small amount of watering everyday.
No nutrients used, no fancy equipment to check how the soil is etc so all I can do is take photos of the progress.
Week 3, and my 3 plants are shooting up, all looking healthy, my routine of care is still the same nice sunny windowsill and watering as and when is needed.
No nutrients used, and still looking really healthy.
Week 4 and they have changed quite a bit, my routine is still the same, I have not changed anything and they seems to be really happy. I have used no nutrients and watering as and when required.
Week 5, my plants are looking really good and we have had some nice weather this week, so I decided to put them outside, which made them grow loads! I put them back on the windowsill in the evening when the temperature started dropping.
I have noticed that they have started to smell a bit and they are needing watering more often.
I have not used any nutrients yet.
Week 6, my plants are doing really well and are appreciating being let outside during the nice weather. I have placed an order for three 12 litre fabric pots and I’ve also ordered some nutrients, just in case.
So far nothing has changed and my routine is still the same with the sunny windowsill and watering daily.
They have sprouted some side shoots which is exciting, and they are producing quite a pong.
My nutrients came as well as my 12 litre fabric pots.
14th May I repotted my plants into the fabric pots and watered with Plant Magic Root Stimulant mixing 5ml with 1ltr of water.
Next day I noticed a bit of leaf burn, I don’t know if it was the repotting causing stress or nutrient burn, so I’ve just been watering with normal water since.
Routine more or less still the same with sunny windowsill and they go outside during the day.
It has been a good week, plants have been mainly outside, but these last couple of days have been so windy that I’ve had to bring them in, they were being battered.
Today I decided to top my plants, I sterilised my equipment, read every article online and bit the bullet, it broke my heart but I know it had to be done. I am hoping that my plants will survive. I shall keep a close eye on them.
Up until today all I have been doing is watering with normal water and left outside.
Not been a bad week and we’ve had some great weather, this weather is also predicted for next week too.
Earlier on in the week I noticed some trails on the plants leaves so I had to ask you lovely lot what was going on. I have leaf miners, I have sorted the problem on after you told me what it was and I have had no problems since.
I have decided to use nutrients this week using plant magic root stimulant and cal-mag I have been using this every other day with just plane water when not using nutes. I have noticed by doing this that my plants have really come on loads.
Topping my plants last week caused no issues and in my opinion they never even noticed I had done it 😂
So all in all a very good week, let’s hope for another easy week next week.
