First time growing. Growing one Big Bang Auto using a BAVAGREEN 120W LED light, Samsung 3500K LM301b, Osram 660nm Deep Red, Dimmable Meanwell Driver. Electric heater for temp, fan in room and using electronic temp/hydrometer. I am not using a tent but using a light stand in a spare bedroom which keeps the whole grow a little more low key for the wife!
5th May - Started germination via paper towel method for 48 hours.
7th May - Sowed in Fox Farm Happy Frog 30% mixed with ProMix Seedling mix (45%) and Perlite (25%). The FF Happy Frog was added to the outside and bottom of the 3 gal fabric pot and the ProMix seedling mix in the middle with the Perlite mixed throughout. Bavagreen 120 W LED dimmed to lowest setting 3500 LUX using free phone app as guide. 18/6 Light cycle
Day 1 (8th May)
Seedling emerged
Day 2
Seedling came up in morning and I removed it's stuck outer shell in the evening.
Day 3
Leafs starting to open up after seed head removed. Gently spray small amount of water Ph 6.8 near base of plant once or twice a day if dry. 1.5 inches tall.
Day 4
Stretched to 2 inches this morning. Increased light up to 25% using dimmer 3500 to 10,000 LUX which hopefully slows the stretching.
Day 5
Leafs growing and the upward stretching has slowed maybe. 2.3 inches tall.
Day 6
Saw that humidity is only at 25% so opened window a bit to let in fresher and more humid air in. Humidity ranging from 28-30% throughout today now. Also good to circulate the air as it was getting a bit stagnant maybe. 2.5 inches tall.
Day 7
New leafs appearing. Slight curling of some edges on leafs so looking to increase humidity up from the current 29/32%. 2.75 inches tall.
Any comments and feedback is always appreciated. Many Thanks!
Unsure if it's too early to turn my light up just yet or wait till more leaves are growing. Currently at 25% (10,000 lux aprox.) using the dimmer for a 120w LED at 20 inches from seedling. Thanks in advance.
I think you are good with that amount of light at this point. Also you can play with the distance of the light 'cos that amount of power should not heat the lamp. You can lower the lamp and see how she reacts to it without adding more power just yet.
Day 8
Growing wider and slowing down in height which is good I think! Slightly concerned about bending stem though.
Day 9
After some good suggestions I decided to bury an inch of the stem with more soil mix to sturdy the stem. 2 inches.
Day 10
Looking good with a lot of new growth leaves appearing. Slight discoloration of main leafs looking less green than before and don't know if it's an issue bit will wait and see! 2.25 inches.
Day 11
Not much to report. Watering every 2 days with a small amount of water. 3 inches.
Day 12
Starting to have a weak smell in the room.
Day 13
Watered. 3.25 inches.
Day 14
Watered.
Any ideas as to why the stem is bending like this? Day 8, 2.75 inches tall, 33% humidity, 77f temp. The seedling did originally stretch but seems to have stopped in the last couple of days and focusing on growing leafs. Thanks in advance
Temp and humidity jumped a bit over the weekend Day 16/17 to over 80 F and 45-50 % humidity. She's still looking good but the leafs did start curling a bit so raised the light and cranked up the fan. Starting more seeds of different strains so will start another diary as soon as they pop up.
Started LST on day 21 and she's looking great the following day. Also added a poultry wire at the base so when I transfer outside the squirrels won't upset the soil.
Raised the light up as it looked as though there was some light burn on the new growth.
Could this be light burn? Only on top new leafs. Have not fed her any nutes yet. I did lower the light after I did LST by the height difference after bending her lower. Have raised the light back up again but just wanted to check what people thought. Thanks in advance
Yes mate it's light burn, I had the same thing. Just dim the light or raise it slightly. I was also wondering if it was nute burn or light burn. Make sure for good air flow too. 👍🌱
Still hardening off for full days of sunlight but she does start to wilt after few hours so in/out of direct sunlight throughout the day and then back under LED in the evening. Started low dose nutes this week of 1ml/L of water. If she likes it I'll increase. She's stretching up now a bit more and getting plumper too!
Does anyone know what this could be from and the best course of action? I can't find any visible bugs on topside or underside of the leafs. Have been putting her outside for a few hours each day for the last week. Nute burn is from hot soil from bottom of the pot she grew into..
Really bushing up and looking lovely! Will up the dose of bloom nutes to 2ml per litre. Slowing down on nutes as some brown markings are showing up which could be PH swing or something else! Probably best to slow down on adding more variables and therefore more questions than answers if/when something goes wrong! Just get it to harvest!!
Hey Growmie,
For maximum THC you'll want to harvest when around 60%-70% of your plant's pistils have darkened and started to curl in on themselves. With only 15-20% darkened pistils I would say at least 3-4 weeks especially if you want to do a proper flush.
Hopefully, this was helpful and remember ..."Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time".
