1st grow. Starting on half nutrient level and will increase over the next couple of weeks. Got the seeds in Amsterdam but can't remember where from. Its auto flowering super lemon haze.
All seems to be going well so far. Just waiting for my ec meter to arrive so I can keep an eye on nutrient levels. Its the start of week two, and I've upped the nutrient levels a bit. I've got my ph down from 6.5 to 6. Hoping to drop it to 5.5 when the ph down arrives. Expecting a good growth spurt this week. Fingers crossed.
Seen some good progress over the last week. Have been tinkering with water cycles. Got it up to 3 x 15min cycles in a 24 hour period, but i think I'm going to go back to two 15min cycles in 24hrs because she seems to wilt a bit in the morning. I'm wondering if the cycle an hour before lights out is too much. I've reset the cycles to 15min an hour after lights on and again 8 hours later for 15 min. I'll see if that improves things. I'm also going to change the reservoir for a fresh batch of water, nutrients and ph balance today or tomorrow. I've also got a sister plant on the go, but she's about a week behind in growth as she germinated later. She's also doing well, but obviously smaller than her big sister.
Well she's definately growing, just a bit slower than expected. I think all the conditions are almost right now. I'll be putting a heater in this week to take the temp up to around 26°C, and I hung a CO2 bag in the tent last night. Topped the central cola last week and am hoping to see development of new colas this week. The watering shcedule is now 15 mins every 4 hours during lights on. Little sister has caught up in height but not in foliage.
Lots of foliage growth over the last week. Not much height growth though. Little sister is now nearly twice the height of her but with much less foliage. Not sure if the height thing is something i should be worried about. Ive only got a 60cm x 60cm x 140cm grow space for 2 plants so short plants would be great, so long as they still produce a decent crop.
Lots of growth over the last week. She's doubled in overall size. Hope she'll start flowering very soon. Can't see any pistils yet though. The colas are bulking out and there seems to be plenty of possible bud sites. I'll be keeping a very close eye on her this week and keeping fingers crossed for pistil growth. Little sister is aiming for the stars. She is very tall now in comparison (35cm vs 22cm) and is starting to fill out with foliage.
Both plants have grown lots more foliage this week and little sister is now 40cm tall.. So much so that I've been quite drastic and done some defoliation at the lower levels on both plants. Also done some training to try and control cola directions of growth. I've changed the nutrient solution for more or less a 50/50 mix of veg/flower nutes. Was quite suprised when i lifted the top tier off my recirculating system to find a collection of roots about 60 cm long have passed through the clay pebble layer (10 litres of the stuff) and are permanently emersed in the nute solution in the reservoir. What's the point in me setting a watering schedule if its got roots in the reservoir? Should i be trimming these roots off or should i just leave them alone? Also, I've heard that super lemon haze doesn't like too much water, so surely roots in the reservoir can't be good? Anyway, despite my confusion and not really knowing what I'm doing, both plants appear healthy. They both have nice shiny leaves with healthy tips etc. Am I worrying unnecessarily? They do say 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm not 100% on this, but i think this might be the start of the flowering stage which is why I've changed my diary entries to flowering. I'm sure i can see a few little white pistils here and there, but they are tiny at the moment and my eyes are crap.
More pistils growing. More training done. Think little sister is gonna be the main producer. Getting worried about space now. Its very cramped in the tent. No room for lateral growth now. The only way is up. Only got about 30-40 cm of height space left. Wondering if i should take the smaller plant out to give the tall one more space?
Was starting to get some patches on a few leaves, so I've flushed and replaced the nute solution for a weaker mix and ditched the veg nutes even though it says to use them for 1st 3 weeks of flowering. Now running between 800-900 ppm and between 5.5-6.5 ph. Haven't got any visable issues with little sister. She seems very healthy and hasn't reacted to any defolation other than to continue to produce new pistils daily.
Day 54 and 'the stretch' is on!!!! Suddenly all the bud sites are growing like crazy.
The stretch continues. They've both drank lots of water this week, probably because I've lowered the humidity from 65-70% to 50-55%. And now the weather is warming up, I'm able to achieve 24°c instead of just 20°c. Flushed again because the nute solution in the reservoir had halved in volume forcing the ppm up to around 1400. Its down to around 1000ppm now. Going away for 7 days, so hope nothing goes wrong while I'm absent.
Well, 7 days away has taken its toll on both plants. Both plants went through 8 litres of water each with only a couple of litres left at the bottom. They also out grew the tent and were bending over at the ceiling. Ditched the tent till the new one arrives and just hope i can save them.
Well i definately caught one of them in time. She seems to be recovering nicely and certainly appreciates the breathing space of the new bigger tent. The smaller one is a waiting game. She hasnt got any worse, but isnt showing any signs of recent growth.
Progress, but it's slow going. The ph in my nute reservoir has been trying to climb all week. Have had to add ph down every day to keep it around 6ph. I've topped up with some cannazym to help with root rot which should also help stabilise the ph. I'll probably switch out the nute solution entirely over the weekend. Get them both on a nice fresh mix.
Buds are getting bigger. Still haven't got on top of the ph problem. Still keeps climbing and sitting around 7.5ph. Keep lowering it to around 6.2ph and I've changed the nute solution reservoir, but it just keeps going back up. Doesn't actually seem to be having any major effects other than perhaps slowing down growth. Thought i would have been close to harvest by the end of week 12, but its now week 13 and I can see this going to 16 or even 18 weeks at the current growth rate.
Started the final flush today. Harvest next weekend! The buds feel really dense and very sticky. The trichomes are nearly all cloudy now. There's a good citrus smell. Getting very excited for my first home grown smoke, although i know thats a few weeks away yet.
This was my first grow of anything, so my experience cannot be compared to other grows. However, as a beginner, I found this easy to grow and got some pretty good results in my opinion. 0
