I’ve started my first grow with 2 plants from seed in a 30l fabric plant pot/bag.
Seed - Zamnesia Sticky Beast Auto
For my medium I’ve used:
90% Coco
10% Soil (taken from local woodland)
Zamnesia Monster BUD MIX ORGANIC FERTILIZER
To start I prepared my medium and placed my seed on top, before adding a further 2.5 cm of coco/soil mix on top.
I then watered the medium & seeds with 4 litres of 6.8 ph water each.
I always leave water I’m going to use in my watering container with the lid off for 24h to evaporate chlorine - the water in my area is very hard.
I placed both pots inside on a windowsill and initially placed cardboard on top to increase humidity and keep the seeds in darkness.
After 2 days I noticed the medium began to smell slightly damp and mouldy. I immediately took the cardboard off.
The next few days had nothing to report - medium still damp
Finally day 5 I noticed tiny seedlings had pushed through In each pot. Feeling relieved.
Day 6 - Now that the seedlings have popped up nicely, I placed the plants outside for the first time.
The weather was cloudy & windy with odd spots of sunshine, so I placed them in a 1m x 1m grow house in the garden.
I plan on keeping the plants outside in direct sunlight as much as possible and using the grow house for bad weather and colder temperatures later on.
I kept a zip undone on the grow house as temperatures can reach 40’C+.
Temperature remained around 24’C with humidity of 55%
The top 1-2 cm of my medium have now dried. I decided not to water the plants as the medium was still quite damp underneath.
Day 7 - seedlings are getting on well, watered each plant with 0.5l of 6.4 ph water - water contained:
3.5l water
1/2 a RQS Easy Grow tablet
ph 6.4
(Will use this for watering until empty)
Kept the plants outside today - weather was cloudy & windy again with spots of sunshine - I wanted the plants to get the breeze from the wind.
Temp averaged about 20’C
All going well, I bring the plants inside during the night as temperatures are around 8-10’ C at the moment.
Hoping for some sunlight this next week 🤞
Week 2 for the 2 plants -
Sun was out and hot! Temperatures in the sun were around 32’C so I tried to keep the plants cool by misting them with ph neutral water.
By day 2 I realised I had been leaving water droplets in the leaves and this could damage them in the intense sun, so I now mist them from below.
(Minor spots on the leaves from the water droplets I think)
One plant seemed to slow its growth as the other had grown its 2nd leaves, I realised this plants soil was a lot dryer than the other, so I watered this plant separately and the other 12hs later.
This seemed to help and the 2nd leaves started growing at the same rate as the other plant.
I plan on doing some light stress training shortly (depending on growth) - I hope to limit the size of both plants whilst still getting a good yield 🤞
