First time grower ! Using a 3ft x 3ft x 6ft tent with a Mars II 700 Watt Led, light soil mixture, 30% extra perlite for additional drainage.
I had ordered a bunch of seeds and was given 4 Canuk Seeds Auto AK and Auto Cheese free with my order. I decided to start with these in case something went wrong. I thought i had started both Cheese but it turns out I started a Cheese and an AK auto. Not sure which is which so we'll figure that out as time goes
Day 6 : They seem to have gotten even bigger from this morning. I've been unsure about watering since I've never planted directly into a 3 gallon before. They seem to be ok, I gave them about a liter each on day 5 around the center of the seedling. The pots still feel like they have some weight so I'll leave them and keep checking every morning.
Day 7 : Not much visual change from yesterday. The big one seems to have gotten a tad bigger, while the little guy seems the same. Not seeing any droop so i guess watering has been good so far. Roots are busy burrowing down and laying the foundation for the next few weeks. Hopefully we'll see some vertical growth next week when i start the feed schedule
Day 7 : Checked when I got home from work and the pots felt light. I had watered on day 5 but did not pay attention. Probably 500ml per plant. I just gave them 800ml each. No runoff but the pots feel much heavier. Hoping this will last to day 10, when I start the nutes
Day 8 : I'm somewhat perplexed at the fact that these 3 gallon pots seem to be significantly lighter 24 hours after watering. The exhaust fan is running at full speed and since I moved the humidifier inside the tent and closed all the portholes, there is significant back pressure in the tent.
I'm not sure if that may be helping dry the soil out quicker. I'm going to see if I can make it to day 10 without adding any more water so I can start with Tang's easy feed schedule
Day 10: Unreal how much they grew from day 9. Clearly I'm not over watering these guys. The big one I'm pretty sure is the AK-47 strain as I've read it has pretty massive fan leaves. Time will tell
Day 11: They got even bigger, you can see the 3rd set of leaves coming up now. Pots are lighter but still have some dampness when i stick a finger in so i'll wait another day and check again. I think the most difficult part so far is trying to figure out when the need water so i don't drown them
Day 12 : Merry Christmas ! Just gave them both their first feeding. 1.5 liters of water / nutes per plant. Watered until small runoff
Day 14 : No signs of nute burn on either 2 plants. They are both getting bigger daily. The smaller one seems to be developing 3rd set of leaves faster than the big guy. The big guy is going to have gigantic fan leaves, you can already tell. Not much stretch , let's see what happens in week 3
Day 15 : Beast mode engaged. Can't wait to see them in a week. Looking good, no signs of nute burn or overwatering. Pots still have some weight to them. Will bump up the nutes to 1.2ml next feed
Day 16 : 4 days since last watering, pots almost dry. Should be good for watering tomorrow. Some nice growth on biggie. Smalls seems to be taking its sweet ass time
Day 17 : Gave them 1.3L of water each this morning with small runoff. Upped the nutes to 1.25 mL/L and added 0.75ml/L of Sensi Cal-Mag Xtra. The folks from Mars-Hydro advised me to use more Cal-Mag than normal so i figured i'd start with a very low dose and go from there. The big on has grown about 1 - 1.5 inches over night. The big fan leaves are no longer touching the rim of the pot, they have risen above it. The little guy seems ok but isn't growing as fast. Pics later
Day 18 : The big one i'm pretty sure is Cheese now that i've done more research. It's getting pretty huge. The difference from day 15 to now is astonishing. The AK is still growing. No sign of overfeed or nute burn since increasing feed and adding Cal-Mag Extra.
Day 19 : Cheap humidifier broke that was in the tent. RH struggling to stay at 40%. Going to go to the store and pickup a ultrasonic one tomorrow. Growth continuing. The big one is really taking off. The small one is chugging along as well
Day 20 : New ultrasonic humidifier is a beast. Has variable controls so i'm able to get the tent up to 50% now. Both plants are looking really good. Biggie just keeps getting wider
Day 21 : Pots almost dry after 4 days. Plants seem to be growing nicely. No issues noticed. They will get their next feed tomorrow morning, the nutes will be upped to 1.5 mL/L. Let's see if they start stretching in week 4 !!
Day 22 : The plants are looking like champs. Little has some lowryder in it it would appear as it's not stretching like the other one. Feed given this morning. 1.4L each. Nutes were increased to 1.5mL/L and Cal-Mag was increased to 1mL/L
Day 23 : The big plant seems to have almost drank up the entire feeding in a day. I don't get it but i'll attribute this to the fact it is getting massive. I'm starting to see vertical growth
Day 24 : I think i have to feed the big one tomorrow, the pots were even lighter this morning and the top soil is dry. Unreal. The little guy still has weight to the pot. Both are growing nicely. No nute burn issues, A few more days and i think i'll have to increase the MARS height from the plant tops. I can't believe the difference in 2 days, it's staggering. I swear they doubled in size. Giddy up
Day 25 : The Cheese was dry, saw some droop. Probably should have watered yesterday. Fed 2L with some runoff. The plant was really thirsty this time. AK still has weight and moisture left in the soil. Not seeing sex on AK but it is quite noticeable now on cheese
Day 26 : Cheese is exploding. It grow over an inch vertically and has started to expand. AK is starting to pre flower.
Day 27 : Fed 2L to the AK-47 and she took it all. Cheese was once again dry in 48 hours after watering. There seemed to be a slight amount of moisture so she'll wait until tomorrow for the next feeding. Got home from work and cheese was completely dry so i gave it 2L of feed. Looks like i have to start watering it every 48 hours. The AK is still able to get 4-5 days between feedings
Day 28 : Made it to the end of week 4. Cheese is sitting pretty at 14 inches tall and getting bushier every day. AK is about 8 inches tall and stout, the lowryder is really prevalent on the AK. Both are in pre-flower. Cheese is exploding daily with new bud sites
Day 29 : Cheese is stretching like a machine. There's more bud sites forming and getting bigger daily. The AK47 doesn't seem to be stretching very quickly nor does it seem to be developing many side nodes. I've had to place it on a box inside the tent to even the height with cheese
Day 30 : Cheese got 2L of water with nutes increased to 1.75mL/L. Growing like a champ
Day 31 : AK got 2L of water with 1.75mL/L of nutes. Still stout and bushy. It seems to still be in early pre flower compared to cheese
Day 32 : Cheese got 2L feed this morning. It has reached 18 inches from soil and looks like it wants to keep going. AK seems quite behind. I'm seeing more nodes but not much growth vertical or horizontal. It's a stout bushy thing
Day 33 : AK got 2L feed this morning. Still seems to be stuck in pre-flower mode. I'm almost about ready to give up on it and move on. Cheese keeps growing ! 20 inches tall today.
Day 34: Cheese got 2L of feed this morning. Seems like we're alternating feeding on these guys. It has hit 22 inches tall and the nodes are just exploding. I am really disappointed with the AK. It is still stout, and still looks to be in pre-flower. One more week and if it doesn't change, i'm killing it off to make room for 3 new ones
Day 35 : And week 5 has ended. Surprisingly I did not have to water AK this morning. The RH in the tent was a bit too high at 60% since I added 3 new pots. I think it's time to shut the humidifier off. Both plants still had some weight so i left them alone. AK is finally starting to show pistils. It seems this one may go 11-12 weeks on me at this rate.
Day 36 : AK was fed the remaining feed mixed @ 1.75mL/L. Cheese got the upgraded feed @ 2mL/L , AK has started to show pistils. Cheese has reached 24" from the top of the soil. Stretch seems to have slowed down, time to start packing on weight. There are a lot of bud nodes on this plant.
Day 37 : Stretch has stopped on Cheese. The bud sites are getting fatter each day. No trichrome formation yet. AK is still stuck in whatever mode it's in. There are pistils but it just doesn't want to flower. Both plants are healthy
Day 38 : Fed both plants 2L each with nutes now up to 2mL/L. Carboload starting soon. Cheese is fattening up nicely. As you can see, AK is just doing its own damn thing
Day 39 : AK is still growing vertically but no flowers yet. Cheese growth has mostly stopped, it's getting wider but not taller. The buds are filling in and getting fatter each day. Still no trichrome formation. Starting to detect a faint funky smell when I open the tent
Day 40 : Noticed a slight burn on some tips so i backed the bloom nutes back down to 1.75ml/L. Added Carboload @ 1ml/L today. Buds are getting bigger daily on cheese. Did some pruning on both to open up the lower canopy a bit more. AK has grown quite a bit, some nice side nodes have shot out. Still no flowers but pistils are showing up everywhere. I think she's going to finish in 12 weeks
Day 41 : Patience has paid off. AK has started flowering and boy has it grown. It is the same size as cheese (24 inches) and i think there's more left in her. Both plants seem to be doing well with backing the nutes down a little bit. They seem to be ok with the carboload that i started last feed. The buds on cheese are getting fatter every day. Lots of side branching. Both plants took well to some light pruning to open the canopy up. I think i'll pluck a few more next feed
Day 42 : Fed both 2L with nutes @ 1.75, Cal-Mag and Carboload. AK has grown taller than cheese. She's starting to produce buds. Cheese buds are getting fatter every day
Day 43 : AK is taking off like a rocket. Passed cheese in height. She's gonna be a biggun
Day 44: Upped the nutes slightly and fed both plants 2L. AK seems to be drinking more and is droopy at the 48 hour mark. May start feeding her more often
Day 45 : Full beast mode on both plants. Cheese is getting massive, the buds are getting super fat and thick. AK is stretching like a machine. She'll be over 3 feet tall by the end of this week
Day 46 : Started Overdrive with cheese. AK is really gulping down the feed. I can't go 48 hours any more between feedings. Some serious droop this morning. Don't want to stress it to the point it hermies so it's going to get feed every 26-36 hours now depending on weight. Did some pruning on both plants. Removed quite a bit of the lower leaves on AK and plucked a few from the middle of cheese to get more light to some nodes. Accidentally clipped a top from a lower branch :(
Day 47 : AK is still stretching but flowering has begun. Cheese just gets fatter every day. Some of the side branches are getting heavy. AK got a 2L feed in the evening with all the nutes minus overdrive.
Day 48 : Cheese got 2L of feed this morning. Fattening up nicely each day. Some of the pistils are starting to turn brown. AK looks like it has stretched a bit more but looks like it has stopped for the most part. Did quite a bit of pruning on AK this morning to really open up that lower canopy
Day 49 : We end week 7 on a high note ! Plants are doing very well. Some pistils turning brown on cheese and AK has stopped stretching and is in full flower mode. AK doesn't seem to mind the massive pruning i did yesterday. AK got a 2L feed this evening
Day 50 : Cheese fed 2L.
Day 51 : The tent is really starting to smell. Cheese is giving off a really sweet scent. AK got 2L feed in the evening
Day 52 : Cheese fed 2L. The smell is like a candy store. If I could sit inside my tent for an hour I would. Buds are starting to fill in more and more each day on AK. She'll definitely go more than 70 days
Day 53 : Pruned off all the fan leaves. Tied the side branches off to the pot to open up more light in the middle. Trying to fatten up the inside buds. Pistils are turning brown, will be flushing soon. AK is in full flower now, starting to fatten up each day
Day 54 : Cheese fed 2L, seems to be up taking less as there was more runoff these past 2 feeds. Pistils are browning more each day. I think this will be the last feed before i start water only. Did some pruning on AK and opened things up a bit. Curious to see how much this helps since i started early into flowering
Day 55 : AK fed 2L in the evening, upped nutes to 2ml/L and started adding overdrive. Buds are getting bigger each day
Day 56 : Cheese fed 2L of water this morning. Pistils are getting more brown each day and starting to curl in . The buds are really fat and thick. Less than 2 weeks left on this one. We end week 8 !
Day 57 : AK was fed 2L with just Sensi Bloom A&B @ 2ml/l and Carboload @ 1ml/l . I backed off the Overdrive as i don't think it is time yet. The buds are still really forming and i don't want to burn this one as bad as cheese is showing.
Day 58 : I found out that i've probably been feeding too much cal-mag. I spoke with AN and they told me that their Sensi products have enough cal-mag that i didn't need to be adding it. I've started seeing tip burns only in the past few weeks. I think adding the Carboload and Overdrive may have pushed it over the top with the extra cal-mag going in each feed. Lesson learned.
Cheese is on water from this point on. I figure she'll be ready in the next 9-10 days. Need to start checking the trichomes as soon as my pocket microscope arrives in the next few days.
Man am I ever glad I didn't kill AK off because it was taking too long to flower. That plant is going to be a monster. It has so many side branches and bud sites. And it's starting to put off some kind of funk. Giddy up !
Day 59 : Pocket microscope came in today. Can't wait to check the trichs later on. Cheese is really starting to smell more and more. 8 more days until she gets chopped. AK is fattening up nicely. She'll finish in 11-12 weeks for sure.
AK was fed 2L this evening and is fattening up more and more each day. Cheese is getting close.
Day 60 : Cheese got 2L of water, had a good look at the trichomes and this plant is pretty much ready to go. I should have started the flush earlier but i didn't have the microscope yet. Checked various parts of the plant and I am seeing mostly cloudy with a small amount of amber trichomes. I'm going to let it go 4 more days to try and give it at least 10 days of flush.
Day 61 : Fed AK 2L, brought the base nutes down to 1.8ml/L and started Overdrive. I'm seeing some brown pistils starting to show up. Buds are filling out nicely each day.
Cheese is getting frostier every day now. Only a few while pistils left per bud, many of them starting to curl inward. Not seeing any yellowing yet. Been almost a week of just water. 4 more days and she's coming down !
Day 62 : Fed cheese 2L water this morning. That plant is looking really incredible. So much frost ! 3 more days until chop chop
Day 63 : Fed AK 2L, buds are filling out quite nicely. Some of the pistils are turning brown. Buds are not as fat as they are on cheese, however this AK seems to be a sativa phenotype so the smaller buds are expected. We'll see what the Overdrive does.
Cheese is 2 days away from chop chop ! So much frost.
This concludes week 9 !
Day 64 : Let cheese stay dry. Harvest day tomorrow !
Day 65 : HARVEST DAY !! I had so much fun growing cheese. She was an easy plant for a first timer and ended up doing quite well. I will do a separate harvest post for her. She's drying nicely now
AK was fed 2L in the evening
Day 66 : AK pistils are starting to turn brown, still some time to fatten up. She was pruned some more, most of the large fan leaves have been removed to open up some light to the lower canopy.
Day 67 : No issues after i plucked a bunch of big fan leaves. Decided to wait until morning to get back on a early morning watering schedule for all plants
Day 68 : Fed 2L, buds are fattening up more each day
Day 69 : More pistils turing brown. A few weeks left on this one
Day 70 : She's looking good. Pistils are getting more brown each day. The colas are still fattening up. 1 more week of Overdrive and then we'll start the flush. This brings week 10 to a close !
Day 71 : The smell is really coming through now, a sweet funk
Day 72 : Fed 2L
Day 73 :
Day 74 : Today was the last feed. From here on out it's only water until we chop. She's looking really good and getting close. Trichromes are mostly cloudy with a bit of clear still. Only seeing a few amber's here and there
