Hello everyone, Its been 6 months, since April that i planted this seed. It was sat in my drawer for 2 years. Many reviews specifically stating that it is a difficult strain to grow and a beginner should not attempt it, or do so with care. It grows like any other plant, just requires a little bit more care and maintenance. Doing this for the first time i noticed that despite me being afraid to train or top, whenever i did, it came back way faster than i expected. Knowing that now i can think of so many other ways i could train it for a maximum yield but thats a lesson. Plus, maximum yield compared to what? this is my first grow lmao The buds are exactly what was promised, "A string of pearl-like formation" and that is exactly what i got. Definitely NOT a growers strain. If you are looking to cash in with this you cannot. Buds have an awful bag appeal and the plant wont give you enough. Grow this ONLY if looking for exotics. Definitely a Day smoke, wake and bakes were never this great. Tastes (and smells) like Aniseed, alot of citrus and herbs, almost minty afterhit from the aniseed. The main reason i chose this strain, my wife has ADHD, when i was looking for 100% sativas i found Dr.Grinspoon thinking it might kickstart focus and an action impulse so she could stop taking the "Lysdexamphetamine" prescription that she was given and it seems to be working, or at least, she seems to be enjoying it alot :) Thank you Barney's Farm for the joy. (little side note, i noticed you changed the marketing pictures on your site for Dr.Grinspoon following a discussion on IC where everyone was looking for a string of pearls but nobody could find them.)

Reviews. Nutrient
Keeping in mind this was my first ever time that i had to consider Cannabis nutrients i will say i am Glad i went with the Advanced Nurients line. Despite all the hate in forums about the morals of the company and claims that they market "snake oil" selling cheap ingredients for a higher price, i still found that all he products helped me alot. Obviously being the first grow i dont have anything else to compare to, but the fact that i didnt have to measure and adjust the PH every time i watered was a bliss. Overall, i think the end result might be mainly because of this nutrient line, but i wont know for sure until i try a different one.

I can confidently say that anybody looking to start growing cannabis should begin with a difficult strain. Not only for the sake of your learning curve, but also as an overall experience which will make any other grow look like a walk in the park. Many mistakes have been made during his cycle but that is alright i think considering this is a first ever grow. Few things to note, POT SIZE, very important to have enough rootspace but also space for water to drain naturally. Dont opt in for smaller pot thinking it will make a small plant, veg duration determines how big the plant will be, a big pot is gonna help in the long run. EC/PPM/PH tools, Dont cheap out on these, buy once and good. Dr.Grinspoon hates hates Nitrogen, so a proper measuring tool will be needed. TRAINING, absolutely adores it. Topping was easy, supercropping was easy, ScrOGging was easy, a little tight on height but that is again on me. Like i mentioned above it tastes like aniseed and he mintness that it carries, otherwise fresh citrus and herbs, almost a bit flowery. Me and my wife have been smoking it since day 2 of drying, it gets better every day. Every person i shared with or gave some away they all seemed to have appreciated it for what it is, i even heard the phrase "This Tastes Like Dam" which made me smile. Not a hard one, jump into it, research what you dont know, grow a plant. EZ Thank you everyone for following, helping, and reading my struggles. I appreciate everyones voice with all suggestions answers and opinions that were given to me. I now have a full new plan for the next cycle.

Hey FungShroom. If you go to the AN website they have a nice feeding schedule. If you select the "Grand Master" as grower level it gives you all AN products on 1 chart. That way you know for all AN products.... Simply set your resivoir size in gallons or liters. Hope this helps. Happy growing ✌️👊

Hello fellow growers :D <3 My leaves started drooping after i decided yday to start watering daily. I watered today with only supplements and looked for drainage. Should i be worried i may have burned them? or should i wait until/if it gets worse to do something?

Hey man. Try watering less. Only water when soil is almost dry and you see the bottom leaves dropping first. Then water. I water once a week.

I am wondering... Advanced Nutrients gives you recommendations on how to feed your plants and claim to be testing their products on real plants, yet, that dosage in 1 litre of water brings the EC up to 2.8 which can kill a plant easy. Opinions?

Yeah. They like to sell nutes. Those levels are for professional growers with ultimate lighting, ultimate environment, and max nutes. They just tell you the highest level possible but most have crappy led lighting and just as extraction fan and intake to control their environment. Light is the most important thing for plants, yet people buy shitty amazon lights and tell everyone how good they are...NOT. If led lighting is preferred then a good Fluence spydrx plus is the only model I would buy, but their really expensive. Even this light wont out perform harvest weight of A 1000W HPS, but it will come close. So they aren't doing anything wrong telling you those levels because people do grow at that ppm. Light, environment, know how, food in that order and you wouldnt believe the size of the buds that will grow for you.

Might be an overreaction but i am noticing all my new growth is yellowing. Could it be a high/low temp fluctuation imbalance during the night/day cycle? Is it a problem? Should i be doing something to fix it? Im 2 days into flower.

Hi there! I think that at this stage of growth the new parts are more than often little bit yellow but should green up in a day or two. If it spreads then this symptom is the first in Sulfur, Iron and calcium def atleast but when it spreads its easier to tell which one or something else. So keep watching here but don't react just yet

Can somebody describe what they can see in this picture? I only received it a few days ago, and since have been watering based on what the Truncheon tells me, but few days later i see a toxicity on my plant, and testing it against the Digital TDS meter shows me diff numbers(?)

I have to say after reading online the manuals for both meters, both have embedded termometers to work under any temperature, and they come factory calibrated so I suggest this: 1) Clean them both very well with distilled 7.0 ph water. 2) If you're using rechargeable AAA batteries with the Truncheon, that's the issue, replace them for regular batteries. Measure again, stirr for a moment and let them stabilize, hopefully the readings will be a lot closer than now!

@MadeInGermany Yes i measured my outflow water and it was EC 5080. i have repotted her into a smaller 2 litre pot with fresh coco and perlite and watered until i got an outflow of 1400. Havent added any nutes, only voodoo juice, piranha fert, sensizym and carboload. I am hoping she will recover. will check back tomorrow.

@MadeInGermany, you were right, she perked up :D :D I started watering through a syringe until i get a runoff of whatever EC goes in, apparently, i watered too much and less often, making the coco coir compact at the bottom and not allowing the roots to breathe, i figured that out after i repotted her yesterday and had a very long dig online to see other people with the same problem. Its not underwatering or overwatering its definitely Underoxygenation. Honestly if not your reply i wouldnt sleep without scrapping the whole room out of frustration.. Thanks my G <3

@DreamCatcher, Yes. You can always or most always fix your girls in veg but once in flower, different story. Yield and quality will suffer. Always important to have healthy girls before switching.

@GMSgrows, I did that quite early, but in my case there was not much drainage and i was watering weekly like soil (whilst growing in coco) i did catch it whilting and withering. Because of no drainage the water was too salty, my TDS stick hit its peak at 5+EC, but i acted fast and managed to save it, i thank everything sacred that its a photoperiod strain and not an auto.. On week 8 it had come back around and finally growing like normal :P Im switching the lights to 12/12 this monday :D

@DreamCatcher, this gg4 is throwing me off a bit cus it wants more food than any plant I have ever grown. She is yellowing a little early for my liking. But it is underfed not overfed which I can increase. If they were overfed, say g bye to a health harvest.

Hey DC. Um, Could I recommend cutting your flower nutes back to 1.6 should be about your highest in mid flower. When I start feeding bloom nutes I start low, 1.2 ec for first 2 weeks of actual flower,,increase if I see early yellowing of my leaves. Mid flower I usually run 1.5 to 1.6, then late flower back to 1.2. Too much ec and your girls wont fatten up to good. Just my opinion, the way I do it in soiless. Cheers friend.

@GMSgrows, Yes thanks for the recommendation, ill do that, It is the first week of lower strength feeds on the schedule, so i will lower to 1.8-1.6 range until the next phase of lowering, then ill lower to 1.4-1.5 and continue that until last phase which would be just water. I did think to myself if i was diluting the feed x2 or at times x2.5 and the Digital gave me the reading i THOUGHT i was getting, now with the analog, it looks like i thought i was giving 2.1 but turned out i was actually giving 1.5 maybe 1.6.. so i think without me knowing, i was already doing what you are telling me, just my meter was a bit shitty and wouldnt give me a true reading. The EC this week has dropped to 1.8 i just forgot to update it on the diary :P I really do appreciate all the feedback, opinions, ideas and recommendations, but i also believe that learning on other peoples' mistakes is a little bit more difficult than making your own and finding the lesson that way, yes some bigger issues may be prevented by just listening, so thank you for the input <3

DreamCatcher
DreamCatcher
@GMSgrows, Yeah i follow the recommended dosages but i also dilute it with about 300-500ml extra water per litre to bring the EC down to safe levels, I never put those amouts in straight 1 litre of water that will kill the plant :P 1 litre of water with all those inside reads at 2.4EC, i dilute until i get 1.8-1.9. 3 of the supplements are beneficial microbes and fungi (first 2 weeks of flower only) to populate the root zone, 1 is to break dead bits of root and feed it back to the plant, 1 is sugars to feed said beneficial microbes, 1 is sugars for newly forming bud sites and 1 is terpene/essential oil accelerator. Most of them dont continue past week 3 of flower and others come in place instead. I quite like this nute line, dunno why but apart from the schedules they have it seems to be doing way good for the girl :P

Mucha suerte, estaremos atentos.

@MELs_Garden, Thank you! I had serious troubles switching from the digital meter to the Truncheon tool, the digital is showing me values that i got used to, 1.8EC-2.1EC, the plant seemed to be enjoying it, but the minute i switched to the same values on the truncheon the plant begun stressing out, i ordered the calibration and cleaning kit from bluelabs already, should be here next week. Currently i dropped to 1EC on the truncheon and ill take it from here... Im glad i have people on board, without the advices given to me so far i dont think how this wouldve evolved :P

I found Grinnspoon go in to lockout 2week of flowering
DreamCatcher
DreamCatcher
@Mashup, I didnt have any problems with feeding week 6 onwards. I begun at 1EC, and over the course of 3 weeks before flowering that rose up to 2.4EC. The "Claws" appear rather fast, so you have hours if not a whole day to correct the EC if needed. I always noticed the leaves claw in about 10 to 20 minutes after feeding, which prompted me to lower the EC by 0.1 to 0.2, i never saw those leaves "Unclaw" but also i never saw it progress into something serious. The Advanced Nutrients line and their recommendations are fckin overkill. What i did from week 6 onwards was i added all the supplements at recommended strength, and the base nutrients at half strength, and then, i added extra water to bring the EC down and only then fed the plant. Currently, the dosages i state i use are per 1.5L of water, so if im making a what would be 2L of feed, i dilute that with another 1.5 to 1.8L of water before feeding. I never waited for the plant to go into deficiencies before upping the strength of the feed. I did it once, and you can see it if you go back on the weeks (a single yellow leaf can be seen in some pictures) after that i figured it out and since then never had any problem :)

Oh wow, she's growing real quick indeed! I hope you'll be able to keep her low enough haha. Stretching usually stops after about 2-3 weeks right?
DreamCatcher
DreamCatcher
@Ninefold, On most strains yes, on most strains it is NOT recommended to prune or defoliate after the third week of veg because thats when they usually stop producing leaves, so whatever you take off before that is what youre left with until the end. Now DrG is a pure sativa, meaning it never stops stretching, it will stretch until 4th week of flower, then focus on the buds, then stretch a bit more, then buds again and so on, im at the end of week 3 now, watch how she will keep stretching, ive got 20CM on the cord left for the lights, watch how ill be met with a problem very soon hahaha
GMSgrows
GMSgrowsweek 13
Looking great DC. when I go into 12 12 the stretch portion, I do most of the trimming then, I put the light as close to the girls as I can to help keep the nodes closer together and I up their feed for the stretch then lower it down to 600 1.2 ec you could go 700, 1.4 ec once the button size buds form. Then I watch for deficiencies and increase the feed 100 ppm each week. Always best to have less and increase as neccessary. Way better to underfeed than overfeed..Cheers friend your innyour way.
DreamCatcher
DreamCatcher
@GMSgrows, Thanks man :) With feeding i got to a point where i was giving her 2EC and was getting an outflow of 1.1EC. She was favoring the nutes more than she was favoring the water, so I upped the nutes, now my outflow sits at 2.2EC a very good ratio inflow/outflow. As for the light, i did think of that, and i decided NOT to touch them again until i see the tips struggling because ot if being too much. Ill do a little bit of trimming mids this week, just remove some shadows for the ones that are just above the grid :P The structure of it doesnt make sense, comparing it to TOTEM's and Tobedetermined's diaries, their buds were more of a foxtail formation, "Feather dusters", but mine is more stalk and what looks like pearls in between the nodes. I dunno but im eager to find out lol xD
