day -3: So, i've been waiting for a while for this, and now the day has come.. it's time to start another grow, and this time with Sweet Seeds genetics!
Given I had a bit of a selection to choose from, i decided to do it the fair way, and put them in random order in front of me. Next I let a random number generator eliminate one strain per round, until only one was left. The winner turned out to be "+ speed auto".
So 2 seeds went into a wet napkin inside a ziplock bag for germination and onto a cozy warm spot in my house (on top of an electrical appliance, that constantly provides some warmth).
morning of day -2: not even 18 hours later, the first of the two seeds already popped and shows signs of life.. obviously it's still too small and fragile to be handled, so it's kept in the moist towel inside the bag until the tap-root has grown enough to be moved safely..
afternoon of day -2: the second has also cracked open to start a new life, so i have decided to put them inside small soil-filled containers (that i will use to then put them into Plagron soilless medium once the roots are showing). The containers themselves have been put inside my propagation box with a heat-mat underneath. Let's wait until they acclimate and decide to stick their heads out into a great new world.
day -1: just sprayed them a bit inside the propagator to keep the humidity up
day 0: sprayed them in the morning again to keep humidity up..
day 0 in the afternoon: one of the two just breached the upper layer of the soil
day 1: both of their heads stick out, so let's call it officially "day 1".. i will keep them in their current containers until the roots are much better developed and then move them into 1 gallon fabric pots.. i did move them to the bottom of the 100x100 grow tent with the quantum boards, as the humidity control there is better than inside the room (though a bit less with around 62%), and i wanted to remove the propagator lid to get them better access to light..
morning of day 3: they steadily grow, so it seems they like being with their older sisters inside the tent.. but that's only temporary, until they get a bit taller and are being transplanted into the 1 gal pouches.. then will be moved into the other box
day 7: the week (10 days including germination) is over and they've grown quite a lot.. at first i was a bit uncertain about how much they'll grow if they're supposed to be ready for harvest in around 7 weeks, but if it continues like this, i can definitely imagine that..
day 8: week 2 already, and they're looking good! I will wait a few more days until i put them inside the 1 gallon fabric pots so the root-structure can develop a bit better first.
So far they only get a bit of tap-water (which has EC 0.8 here) each day. Once i move them, i will switch to RO water.
day 12: I have decided that it's time for them to move into the 1 gallon pouches now.. from now on they will get RO water with some light calmag for feeding, as the Plagron royal mix already has sufficient feeding for around 6 weeks. In my Hindu Kush grow i noticed it's best to start feeding around week 5 again as during week 6 the plants showed some deficiencies, however given that this here is a fast growing strain that should be done within 7 weeks, i think that the pre-fertilization should run out exactly around the time when i should be flushing the plant anyways. Let's see if my timing was right.
day 14: they both each got 200ml of 1/2-strength AN additives (B-52, Piranha, Tarantula and Voodoo Juice) in RO water (no calmag to keep the EC lower, as the Plagron is already quite high for plants that size)
start of week 3.. day 15: yesterday they got AN additives, so today they get nothing..
the next watering will be with RO water with some light calmag added again, but what do we say when the medium is still wet: "not today".
day 21: they were getting 250ml of calmag'd RO water with half strength AN additives..
day 21 in the evening: so i just looked after the plants and wow, they've done quite a growth spurt today! They must have grown around 7 cm and i can see very obvious pistils (so not just small ones) on both of them now, so i would say that precisely 3 weeks after germination they start flowering.. tomorrow will be the beginning of a new week, so i'll definitely have to create this one as "flowering". The speed of this plant is quite unusual to me, as my white haze is a plant that takes 12 to 16 weeks (in week 13 now, but I think she's done in a week or so), and the Hindu Kush i expect to take approximately 80 days from germination to finish.. If she continues like that, then i absolutely believe the "around 49 days" advertisement from sweet seeds.
day 22: a new week starts, and the pistils are rather big already, so i mark this as the first week of flowering.. yesterday she got some AN nutrients, so today there will be no watering..
day 22 afternoon: i decided to do some lst, and noticed that the Plagron was really dry, so i guess the recent growth spurt required most of the water that was provided to them, so i did give them both some RO water with half-strength calmag..
day 24: i gave them a bit of RO water with 1/2 strength calmag again..
day 28: they got some of the AN nutrients again..
day 29: i know that i already put this diary into "flowering" last week here, as one of them is definitely into flower, while the other seems to just start now..
anyway, they got some extra feeding with 1/2 strength AN nutrients again yesterday.
also removed 2 of the upper fan-leaves on each of the plants, to provide more light to some of the lower areas
day 34: they got the weekly share of AN nutrients again..
day 36 means it's a new week again.. they have been staying rather small, which is not surprising for a fast strain, so i wonder if it was even necessary to bend (lst) them? maybe the other two seeds that i have from this strain, i will just grow straight up..
day 38: the two ladies got some RO water with calmag again as they seemed pretty thirsty..
day 41: so my idea with only giving them Plagron and nothing else (other than AN additives) over their lifetime unfortunately doesn't work out.. I can see N deficiencies in the lower leaves (turning yellow), which happens a bit too early already, so with my next feeding (today or tomorrow) they will be getting a good (but not too high) dose of GHE base-nutrients (flora 3 part series). This was more of a test anyway to see if a fully non-extra-fertilized grow could be done in Plagron with a superfast strain like this, but it seems that's not quite possible.. too bad as this would have made growing so easy. ;)
Obviously that's not the plants fault in any way. The two ladies have been doing very well so far and with their growth characteristics they're great for any grow-box or vertically height limited growing cabinet.
The other 2 +speed seeds that i still have left i think i will put individually into my grow boxes as i think that'd be the ideal growing environment for them. First there are some other strains that I need to try out though. :)
day 42: today they're getting their weekly dose of AN nutrients again..
day 43 - start of a new week and they're looking well! they have a nice little frost on the top part of the colas, and when i squeeze them lightly the smell is amazing!
at the end of day 43 i also did some defoliation to allow more light to the lower area..
day 48 - trichomes are stilli clear/cloudy so it'll take a little longer, but not to worry.. the second one starts fattening up a bit more as well, like the first one is..
day 50 and they're almost done.. just a little bit longer until some more of the trichomes turn amber, but they're in the final sprint :)
day 52: still a little bit to go.. obviously they now get only water.. I checked the trichomes and some have turned amber already, so while i could already harvest here, i want to wait for just a few more.. harvest is imminent though
day 54: i think they should be ready now.. just made pictures this morning, but didn't check the state of the trichomes with the magnifying glass yet.. I won't get to it until later today, but i wouldn't be surprised if they will be harvested today or tomorrow.
very fast and easy to grow..
the two plants that i had were pretty small (don't know if it was just these ones, as i have other strains in the same environment that are quite a big taller, and i did see taller +speed plants in other grows as well).
A bit taller might have made added another star, but i think for anyone making a stealth-grow this would be an ideal strain!
I still have more of these seeds, so in future i will put them into one of my small grow-boxes and see how they will behave there, but i can imagine they're perfect for that space.
This was definitely the "stickiest" of my grows so far when it comes to the amount of resin on the colas.. ;)
they're now all ready for being dried and then cured.. more information to be added once they are dried and cured..
as mentioned this was so far my stickiest harvest, however the plants were also rather small..
I did see many other diaries that had taller plants, which obviously then provide a bigger harvest, so i will test the other seeds that i still have in a little bit of a different environment some time in the future.
growing was very easy though, and they smell amazing, so i am really looking forward to them being dried and cured :)
Congratulations! 👏
Thank you very much for trusting our strains, and sharing your experience.
And thank you very much again for the score of 8 out of 10!! 👏😍❤️
We hope you enjoy the harvest 👌
Sweet smokes!

@Sweet_Seeds, thanks! I am already looking forward to the next grows with your seeds! I still have seeds for four different strains, so after the run i just started now, there'll be another diary from sweet seeds again.. i'm really looking forward to the red poison auto, so i think that will be next in line! :)
@ijustdontgiveaf, that sounds like a good plan! Any time I have used supersoil blends when growing autos I find it starts to lose its ability to keep up nutritionally with the plant around mid flower, but that's with blends I've mixed together. But it's easier enough to add a little flowering nutrients right at the end if that happens. It sounds like you have any potential issues accounted for, and those sweet seeds genetics will leave you with some lovely plants! Happy growing to you too!
@Cheeba_Inu, thanks!
Yes, the water really is quite hard here.. after i moved and was only growing chili peppers for a while, i've had some health issues with the chilis that i just couldn't explain, as i didn't do anything different than before.. that was until i finally decided to get an EC meter. The RO filter was however one of the most important purchases i've made and it has made things so much more controllable.
Those two little ones here, only get a small amount of water each day, so they're doing fine (even the plants in my living room that only get tap-water are doing alright), but once i move them into their final containers and get them into the Plagron mix, that itself is prefertilized with up to 1.6 mS, i'll definitely have to switch to RO (with a little bit of calmag after checking with the guys at Plagron).
Now, after having at least a little bit of experience with the Plagron thanks to my Hindu Kush grow, as well as my White Widow mother that doesn't have a diary, I also feel like i know approximately when the prefertilization of this mix runs out. This is pretty spot on with their advertisement of "about 6 weeks". This means it's best to start fertilizing around week 5 to keep it going consistently.
Those +speed auto however are advertised to be harvested after 7 weeks of germination, so i might manage to keep them in the small container for another week and then i could repot them and wouldn't even have to fertilize the Plagron at all (other than some bloom additives). The end of the Plagron prefertilization should then coincide with the beginning of the flush. This would make things really easy.
I guess i'll see if this works out the way i imagine it could be ;)
happy growing to you!
I've seen your ducks are doing well outside!
@Sweet_Seeds, thanks and she's been doing great!
I should have given her a bit of base-nutrients a week ago (as the pre-fertilization of the Plagron didn't seem to hold up as long as i had hoped it would.. i guess that's the risk with all those pre-fertilised mediums), so i just added a tiny dose for the last bit to not starve her too soon..
When looking at the trichomes I have the feeling she will be done towards the end of the next (growing) week. Maybe a tad later, but still hard to imagine that she's finishing around the same time as my Hindu Kush, which germinated 5 weeks earlier.
Of course she's much smaller, but that's to be expected with such a fast strain. :)
She's even a bit smaller than other +speed grows i've seen, but i don't really mind that..
A perfect strain for stealth grows and SOGs in limited vertical environments..
@Sweet_Seeds, thanks and sure thing!
All the ones i have bought from you are faster strains, but with this one i might even be able to make it in time for the cup you are hosting here!
Will be a close call though, but that was definitely not on my mind when going through the selection process.
I have other grows that take 100+ days (sativas or some photoperiods that i let veg for a long time), so going for a fast auto-strain this time will be a nice change-up ;)
..and as you saw with the selection, there'll be more sweet seeds diaries to come moving forwards!
cheers!
