Incredible week learned so much!
I can swear the WG has super genetics - she sprouted so fast and her roots rushed out of the rock wool in no time, she tolerated my mistakes and continues to thrive.
RG sprouted two days later so she didn’t witness the same conditions her sister has but she is very short! Leaves look good, roots hit the water but I guess she should grow better now.
Wedding Gelato sprouted quickly and strongly but due to my lack of experience and eagerness considering this my first grow I made some fundamental mistakes that I advise beginners to avoid:
1) Do not rush into nutrients - I gave her too much in her first few days which caused a tip burn. The water was around 900 PPM with an EC of 1.2 and the RH in the room was around 30%! Relatively unfavorable conditions for a seedling so I had to remove half of the water in the tank and refill with PH balanced RO water that took down the readings to half and immediately things got better!
2) Do NOT expose the water in the DWC reservoir to light LOL I was basically encouraging an orgy for bacteria and algae in the tank, WG started drooping so I checked her roots and saw those brown spots and freaked out - So I added 4 vials of 60 ml 6% hydrogen peroxide and I swear it was like magic - she is up and her roots are looking fine
I’m loving this and enjoying it beyond words. Hope they’ll survive
Great week - After completely changing the water in the reservoir and sterilizing it it took the babies a couple days to recover but they are looking amazing - Will FIM the WG and probably top the RG. We’ll see how it goes
This was my first FIM - Can someone please confirm if this is a proper clean cut. Did I remove excess or should I take out more? The two photos are 6 hours apart
Started off bad with serious calcium deficiency. I was applying the nutrient schedule built on a 500 basis while my measurement device is based on 700. I was starving the plants without realizing it - Trimmed off the damage, upped the nutes and looking good as new.
This is my 3rd week of flower after months of struggles, I was about to cut them off and abort the grow ... My plants were hit with yellowing tops and leaves were being burnt for no apparent cause. I installed a chiller, reduced EC, distanced the light and still ... Only to find out that calcium toxicity was the culprit .... It caused a potassium lock out that literally burned the leaves and stunted growth completely ... They looked like seedlings despite well crossing the vegetative stage ... Flushed my tank ... removed the calcium completely and the magic started ... This week I’m attaching this beautiful time lapse video of my girls coming back from the dead and filling out my tent space completely! :)
Hey friend! A little secret: Keep the water under 16c (60F) and your roots will not suffer if bacterias. And Hydrigen peroxide isnt a good solution in long terms
Good luck
@Darksoul, Fully agree ... switching to Great White instead which is a better and more natural defense ... also took down temperature to 20 and ordered a new chiller to bring it further down. So far things are moving very well and fingers crossed :)
