Another run started - 1 Purple Kush Auto from Oasis Genetics and 1 Pineapple Express Auto from Barney's Farm.
Wet, single sheet paper towel germination method has been 100% successful thus far and once again it did not fail.
For this auto run started them off in Jiffy Pellets and then in solo cups before planting into final pot. Was feeding 100ml tap water Ph between 6.0 - 6.1 each every day once in solo cups.
Realized during this week both lights were not necessary and therefore only ran one SF2000.
Noticed the Purple was growing oddly compared to the Pineapple. Was having some heat issues which could have been the cause.
By the end of the week feeding was once a day, about 2-4 drops in 100ml of water Ph between 6.0 - 6.1 all Remo veg nutrients. Found it hard to get the nutrients right with the fast growth of autos. Will get better each time and every run we learn something.
Started off the week by transplanting from solo cups to the final 5G pot.
Was having some high heats in the tent this week and the purple kush was not liking it.
Feeding was every other day but the amount of nutrients were different almost every day. Was having difficult still with the right amount of nutrients to feed.
Started the week with some Low Stress Training and continued to add and rearrange the ties throughout the week. There are a handful of reasons to LST your plants but the main reason should be to train the plant to grow with an even canopy when flowering. If you were to just grow your plant without any training, the plant would typically grow like a Christmas tree where the star would be your main top cola and have smaller buds (larf) on the bottom 3/4 of the plant. When trained correctly and achieving an even canopy will produce multiple large colas across an even canopy allowing as many colas (bud sites) as possible to be the same height from the light source.
The Pineapple grew quickly which made the LST very easy and it worked out great in the end.
The Purple was not growing so good and that was disappointing considering the other Purple that was growing in the other space grew very nice, similar to the Pineapple. Getting a runt / mutant is more common than one would think.
At this point Feed was every other day and 3ml in 3L Ph between 6 - 6.1
*This week switched both SF2000 lights on and was having heat issues which didn't get corrected till late in the week.
Pineapple Express was an exciting plant to grow. It grew fast and stretched nicely.
Purple Kush was just a runt. It did not like the hot climates from the previous week but grew it out anyway.
By weeks end was feeding Remo's full flower lineup.
Pineapple - 8ml per 3800ml Ph between 6 - 6.1
Purple - 5ml per 2000ml Ph between 6 - 6.1
No change in light scheduled as with Auto's they do not require the 12 hour darkness period to flower.
**Spider Farmer lights generate a lot of heat.
Exciting week seeing all the bud sites start to beef up.
Kept up with light defoliation to allow some better airflow.
Pineapple still growing like a champ while the Purple Kush growing so poorly it had to be placed on a 5G bucket.
*Had some technical difficulties this week with climate. Rh got a little out of control.
Exciting week watching the Pineapple started to bulk up and was looking great. The Purple Kush not so much.
Fed when pots felt light and was consistent: Pineapple 8ml in 3800ml Ph between 6 - 6.2 Purple 6ml in 2750ml Ph between 6 - 6.1
*Pineapple was growing so fast, could not keep up with it in terms of training and nutrients.
As the buds were stacking nicely was noticing some issues. Mg was definitely low and with the high amounts of heat produced by the lights, they were starting to burn the leaf tips. Raised the light as high as possible but did not fully fix the issue.
Final week of nutrient feeding. 2 feeds Pineapple 9ml 3800ml Purple 7ml 2750ml Ph between 6 - 6.1
This was the end of week 4 of flower and started to flush at the end of the week.
Pineapple: 9ml Natures Candy 3800ml Ph between 6 - 6.1
Purple: 7ml Natures Candy 2750ml Ph Between 6 - 6.1
*Added another fan and turned up the exhaust fans.
Pineapple is really starting to bulk up while the Purple is starting to really show some purple buds.
Smells like fresh cut fruit in the tent and when plants are out of tent, smells up the basement :)
Definitely have to fix the heat issue moving forward and hope to not have crispy leaves. Working on getting the drivers outside of the tent which would also allow access to the lights dimmer function.
1 last Natures Candy feed/flush and then it was straight flush from then on. Pineapple 4000ml Purple 2750ml Ph between 6 - 6.1
*Got some better equipment which will improve future grows
*Taking pictures with the lights off is the way to go from now on.
Come on and finish already!!
The smells are AMAZING!! Hope it tastes as good as it smells.
Checking trichomes twice a day looking for at least 5% amber. Very very close, the lower buds on the Pineapple are starting to get thick and dense but no amber yet. The Purple Kush does not have as dense nugs but the purple colours are a beautiful sight no amber at all yet.
No nutrients just straight water Ph between 6 - 6.1 Pineapple 4000ml, Purple 2750ml
First Auto Flower grow in the books!!
I loved growing this strain and great genetics from Barney's Farm. Right from germination, the tap root was about an inch long and as soon as it was in the pot, she grew vigorously and stretched out very nicely making it easy to LST. It smells amazing, exactly how you would expect a Pineapple strain to smell like. When your house is filled with smells of fresh cut fruit you know its going to be a tasty one.
The buds are beautifully covered in trichomes and the orange hairs make it even more appealing.
I harvested when the trichomes were mostly milky with 5% amber. I could have went a little longer but I got anxious and was running low on supply.
I would like to see Grow Diaries change the harvest week a little by adding a dry time to the equation. I dry for 7 days minimum but I aim for 10 days. This time I dried for 10 days.
I do a wet trim before hanging to dry to remove as much of the green leaves and stems as possible. This made the dry trim super quick.
So I weighed everything after the wet trim which also included the stems as you can see from the pictures how I hung with the stems left on. It came to 525g.
Once it was dried I weighed everything again with the stems to see what the difference was. It weighed 126g.
That's a difference of 399g or 76%.
The final dry, stem free weight was 103g
Not sure what I think about Oasis Genetics. 3 plants have grown 3 completely different and have yielded completely different results.
This one yielded 134g wet with stems / 35g dry with stems for a difference of 99g or 117%
Dry weight without stems 28g
Was hoping for a bigger yield but the quality is still there. Strong berry taste and smells like very sweet like candy. Love the colours it produced, the purple buds really make it appealing. Burns very nice and smooth, and the high is very heavy makes you lazy and tired.
