Just transplanted from 4 inch pots to their final homes. They sprouted about 3 weeks ago. The blue tote is filled with Sohum organic soil and the large black pot is filled with ocean Forrest. I will be growing them organically using down to earth nutrients, worm castings, mushroom compost, and recharge.

Both these sprouts have been in their pots for a week now and I am seeing differences in how the two are growing. Since these are sprouts instead of clones my genetics will vary slightly. The fox farm ocean Forrest looks to be doing great, has a vibrant green color and is vigorously growing daily. The sohum soil seems to be Growing slower and leaves are a darker green (Maybe too much N for size of plant) than the plant in fox farm. The plant in sohum has the same amount of nodes as the other but is noticeably smaller. I have noticed that the sohum soil does not hold water very well, it dries out every other day where I have only watered the fox farm soil 1 time today (1 week) since planting it.

This week has definitely shown the strengths of the fox farm soil as the plant has exploded, it has growing by leaps and bounds daily. The Sohum soil is still growing slower and smaller. They are about the same height and have the same amount of nodes but the Plant in fox farm is easily twice as big. The sohum soil is still giving me trouble with keeping it moist so I threw some straw down to act as mulch so I don’t have to water every other day. Fingers crossed that it catches up. I plant to top later this week and possibly throw tomato cages in the pots.

This week I topped both plants and put a tomato cage on the one in fox farm. I was still struggling to keep the sohum soil moist so I added a layer of worm castings under the mulch which seems to have helped quite a bit. The plant in fox farm is clearly growing much quicker and has one node more than the other plant. Both plants have recovered nicely from their topping.

Things have been developing nicely over this past week. I did some defoliating by removing some of the large fan leaves that come from the main stalk to let more light get to the side shoots. I also did some low stress training on the plant in fox farm and it has taken off since and developed into a nice shrub. The plant in sohum has appreciated having a layer of worm castings and mulch to retain moisture, also has responded very well to the defoliating.

Things have been going well thus far. The plant in sohum soil is growing slowly which is creating more work to build a canopy. Have been doing a lot of LST and defoliation on it to get it where I want. I’m hoping it’s growth picks up soon, I’m guessing it’s a genetic issue. I will have to test this soil again with clones for a better comparison. The plant in fox farm is growing great. The side shoots are slow but the LST has been helping build a full canopy. Happy with how it is starting to fill in.

Things are coming together well, so I am probably going to flip these to follower in a week or so. I have been doing a lot of LST on both plants trying to open the canopy up and create as many tops as I can. The plant in fox farm soil has been loving life and has filled out quickly. The plant in sohum soil is starting to fill in nicely, looks like it’ll be a little bit of a runt. I’m excited to see how they both developed during stretch.

Flipped the plants to flower this week. So far the plants have responded nicely and are starting to stretch. They have picked up their water intake as well. I top dressed the fox farm plant with kelp meal, fish bone meal, and lagbenite and about 1/4 inch of worm castings across the top. The plant in sohum I only added the worm castings. I want to see how nutrient rich the soil is. I’m hoping this plant does some major growing in the next couple weeks bc as it looks now she is a bit of a runt.

You try top dressing with more sohum or brewing a tea with it for a feeding?
