OVERVIEW OF GROWTH
• Three plants growing in the garden
• Two Super Uzis and a Mephisto Sour Stomper
• Sour Stomper broke ground on day -2
• Super Uzi #1 broke ground on day 1
• Super Uzi #2 broke ground on Day +3
• To keep it simple I have assigned Day 1 of the garden to be the day that Super Uzi #1 broke soil. All plants are in the same week.
****************************************************************
** Comments on the Germination Process and the Seed **
****************************************************************
It took seven seeds to produce these three plants. I start by placing seeds into a damp napkin and the temperature is controlled between 78F and 80F.
SPROUTED
1 Mephisto Double Grape
Spouted and placed into soil in 18 hours. It failed to break the soil. I did take a look and it looks like I may have planted it too deep. The seedling attempted to grow but didn't get through.
2 Mephisto Sour Stompers
Both sprouted within 36 hours. One of these was planted and is still in the garden. The second was deformed. The cotyledon broke through the shell rather than the root tip. It wasn't planted.
2 Super Uzis
One sprouts in 48 hours and remains in the garden, Super Uzi #1. The second seed did not sprout.
2 Super Uzis [Yes, 2 more.]
This is required for the space left open by the failure of the Double Grape. The first seed sprouted and was planted within 24 hours. The second seed did not sprout.
OBSERVATION
• 100% of the Mephisto seeds, 1 Double Grape and 2 Sour Stompers, sprouted. 33% resulted in viable plants.
• 50% of the Sensible Seeds Super Uzi Autos sprouted. 50% resulted in viable plants.
• It's not a good idea to draw any conclusions from this small of a sample.

OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• The lights are now full strength. Each day the lights were turned up "just enough to be noticeable." It took about 10 days to get to full brightness.
• It was an incredible week for the plants. All are looking great. No hint of nutrient problems.
• It's easy to spot the five-day spread between the plants. But I intend to feed them all the same. Unless there are problems.
• Soil is a good light mix that drains easily.

OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• Plants all continue to grow well with no signs of nutrient or pH problems.
• The Sour Stomper has two malformed leaves. But it is limited to two leaves and no signs of disease or pests.
• I may not have to lower the light in this grow. The plants may reach out to it!
• Day 17 I waited an extra day to water. Even though the soil is dry, the plants looked a bit overwatered, so I gave them a rest.
• A note to readers: If you do some research you will find that your temps can be a bit higher with LED lights. I don't know why, but I've heard it a couple of places such as the following podcasts.
• Recommended podcasts: Autoflower Podcast, Grow Bud Yourself, Growcast and Cannabis Cultivation and Science Podcast
COMING UP

D23 - 1L tea each. pH ~6.4. Aerated for 24 hours.
For One Gallon of Tea
Place in tea bag:
• 3 TBS Nature's Living Soil - Per manufacturer
• 1 TBS Molasses - Recommended by NLS. Feed the microbes!
• 0.5 Cup Earth Worm Castings - Added for a richer tea.
• 0.5ml Mammoth P - I noticed some possible P or cal-mag problems two days ago. This may head-off any developing problems.
• 1 TBS Roots Organic Elemental - I noticed a possible cal-mag problem two days ago. This may head-off any developing problems.
D24 - Each plant was lightly defoliated. Only the ten largest fan leaves were removed across all three plants. This opens the lower branches to more light.
• Later in the day I did some SuperCropping. I just gently bent the branches that I thought would produce good buds. It allows them to "go horizontal" and catch more light.
D25 - 1L, MK,FS
D27 - 1L, MP
ENVIRONMENT THIS WEEK
Relative Humidity - 46%-77%
Temperature - 66F-82F
Comment - During the last season, I monitored the Vapor Pressure Deficit probably every 30-minutes. This time I am just looking at daily ranges. All is good and it is lower stress. But, going thought the last grow really helped me understand what is going on.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
•
DAILY COMMENTS
• Day 22 - I noticed the first pre-flowers on the Sour Stomper. I'll be feeding my tea blend tomorrow. Perfect timing.
• Day 23 - I increased the watering amount from 500ml to 1 liter. This time it was tea. Even with a full liter, there was no runoff. I water very slowly to allow the water to permeate the media. I expect to continue to water 1 liter at a time. I may have to adjust my schedule a bit and allow two drying days between waterings. Eventually, the plants will grow to where I can cut it back to one day between waterings.
• Day 24 - Removed about 3-4 large fan leaves from each plant. This opened the lower branches to the light. I also SuperCropped most of the branches. Gently twisting each branch at its base between my thumb and forefinger. This weakens the branch temporarily. When they "heal" the branch will be more horizontal, bringing it into the light.
• Day 24 - My plan suggested this is the first week of flowering. Only the Sour Stomper is showing pre-flowers, so I am not changing to the flowering fertigation schedule.
• Day 25 - Just a "clarifying thought" concerning LST. In the past I was very aggressive, essentially attempting to get more than one bud along a branch. That was not my intent, but it was the result of my extreme LST approach. This time I will try to keep it to one bud per branch. The goal of LST will be to get the _top_ out to the light, where it can turn upward again. Anything below the "main bud" will be stripped, just as if you are lollipopping the main stem. I ordered some tomato trainers from Amazon to start the process. I will use my existing spike if a branch needs a secondary tie-down.
• Day 27 - One liter of water just gets the plants through two days. I'm not ready to increase the every-other-day waterings, but it won't be long. The Sour Stomper has really taken off. It started a noticeable stretch today. Super UZI #1 also shooting out a strong main shoot, with no signs of pre-flowers.
• Day 27 - Major LST session. I purchased "Tomato Stem Support Clips" off of Amazon. They were only $10USD for 100. THEY ARE GREAT! Once a branch is about 6"-8" long you can use the clips to bend it to about 90-degrees relative to the main stem and the next day it is reaching for the light out beyond the reach of the other branches. Take a look at the photos to see what I mean.
COMING UP
• It would be fair to say that the Super Stomper is blooming. But because the others have yet to show pre-flowers, the condition is still "VEG."
• Remember, Super Uzi #1 is on Day 1. The Sour Stomper is two days ahead at -2 and Super Uzi #2 is behind breaking ground on day +3.
=> That means at the end of week 4, Day 28, Super Uzi #1 is 28 days old. The Sour Stomper is 30 days old. And Super Uzi #2 is 25 days old. It also means that it was more difficult to get the Super Uzis to sprout. The Sour Stomper spouted first. Draw your own conclusions.
• I'm looking forward to using the new support clips. I think I will be able to minimize the stress on the plant and increase production.

Comment - These ranges are well within healthy limits for the plants. The VPD runs about 1.0 to 1.3, good for late vegetative and early flowering stages.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• I'm trying to let the plants get well into pre-flower. Then add the tomato stem support clips to push the branch close to horizontal. When the branch reaches the edge of the pot, add a stake.
• I need to give the plants a little more time before training. At the very least I should not trim it two days in a row. I need to give the plant a day to recover.
• These are the best organic autos I've run. I can only compare myself to myself. My stretch goal is to get 1 gram per watt from the garden. How close will I get?
DAILY COMMENTS
• Day 31 - Super Uzi #1 looks like it is a photo! Super Uzi #2 is a full three days younger and it is well into early flowering. I'll let it hang around for a while, but I don't have the space to switch it to flowering. Too bad, it's a good strong plant.
=> That means that it took four (!) Super Uzi seeds to get one plant into flowering. (See week #1 for details.) That's not a good record. I'll probably be sticking with Mephisto for my seeds.
• Day 34 - SHIT! I broke off the main stem of Super Uzi #2! I was attempting to gently pull over the top of the plant and it just snapped off. I removed about four inches from the plant. While this was not what I intended to do, it does give me four strong tops. I'll think of it as an experiment in late-topping autos.
COMING UP
• Nothing special planned for next week. I'll just be following the nutrient schedule.

Comment - These ranges are well within healthy limits for the plants. The VPD runs about 1.0 to 1.3, good for the flowering stage. Also, under LED lights you can run the environment a bit warmer than with other light sources.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• I've been learning about how to really train the plants with limited LST and defoliation. I'm trying to let the main stem to stand straight up and pull down the side branches to open up the canopy. I try to only remove or tuck fan leaves when they are blocking the light for lower buds. Overall, just treating the plants better because they are on their own genetic clock and they don't have time to spend on recovery.
• The plants are growing well and there is no need to lower the lamp at this time. I may bring it down a few inches as the plants continue to flower when they can handle the extra light.
• When I tie a branch down the goal is to bring the top bud on each branch to be out to the edge of the pot and then turn upward. Depending on the light condition and other factors I attempt to "lollipop" each branch leaving only the primary cola. Of course, there are exceptions to all of these "rules."

OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• There is no doubt that that Super Uzi #1 is a photo. I've turned it into an experiment about how long one can go without water. It was last watered on Day 43 with 1.5 liters of solution. I'll report on it each week.
• Now it looks as if the plants have been over-fertilized. Very dark green fan leaves, which leads me to think that I may have too much nitrogen for a blooming plant. The primary source appears to be the results of the Nature's Living Soil (NLS) tea. I need to find a replacement for my mid-life tea feeding. I know that coconut water has some nutrient value, but I don't think it is high in NPK, it's more of a source micro-nutrients.
COMING UP
• Need to determine what is wrong with my garden and remedy it.
LESSONS LEARNED (push down list)
• Day 49 - You can always see problems about a week before there is a real problem. Need to take better health notes and reference my earlier pictures more frequently looking for early signs of problems.
• Day 49 - Now I'm wondering if it is a shortage of something. Could be phosphorus, but I use Mammoth P according to directions. Calcium? Hard to tell.
• Day 46 - How can you "fertilizer burn" an organic grow? Might coconut water be the source? I read today that it is important to check your EC (ppm) when using coconut water. It is nutrient-rich, is that the source of too much of something?
=> Possible Cause #1: Coconut water.
=> Possible Cause #2: NLS tea. I need to check my pictures to see if there is a relationship.

• 5 ml Fish Sh!t
• 1 ml Mammoth P
• 1.5 TBS Molasses
D53 - It has been ten days since I watered Super Uzi #1. I'm seeing how long it will live without water. The plant was totally wilted and the edges of some large leaves were starting to die. I decided to see if it would come back. I gave it 1 liter of water. Within an hour it was standing tall. Not the way to treat a plant, but it didn't kill it. Next time I'll let it go further. (I wish I had the space to flip it to flower.)
ENVIRONMENT THIS WEEK
Temperature - 70F-86F
Relative Humidity - 40%-69%
Comment - The temperatures may seem to run a bit high. This is acceptable under LED lights. Tests have shown that while under HID lights the temperature of the canopy (leaves) is higher than the ambient temperature, under LED lights the leaf temperature is actually lower than the ambient temperature. This is true in my garden. That means that the measured temperature can be higher and it doesn't harm the plants. The Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) is what determines how well the plants grow in each stage of life. The VPD runs about 1.2 to 1.6, this is good for the mid-to-late flowering stage.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• Finally determined what was wrong with the help of DrKidneyStoner on Instagram. I have too much N and not enough PK! I need to do a "reset" of the nutrients in my soil.
• Once the reset was complete I fertigated the next time with a rich mix of bokashi to bring the needed nutrients back to the plant.
HOW TO RESET AN ORGANIC GROW
• You should not flush organic soil. However, it was apparent that I needed to do a light flush to bring the nutrients back into line with what the plants need. I created nine liters of solution for the two plants. Each received 4.5 liters of the solution. Each plant produced about 1 liter of runoff.
• Azokashi (and Seabird Guano & Kelp Blend) is sold by Home Grown Bokashi. (https://www.homegrownbokashi.com/)
• 2.5 TBS added to nine liters of water. pH'd to ~6.2.
• I blended the Azokashi with about a half-liter of water and ran it through a blender. I think by blending it I am increasing the bio-availability of the Azokashi.
• Blending left one tablespoon of solids in the blender. This was removed from the blender for later use. DON'T use a good blender for this. It does scratch the base of the blender, nothing major but I would not do it again in our good blender.
• Mix the solid remains of the blending process with 7 TBS of earthworm castings. I topped dressed with this mix. Using it as a top dressing ensures that I didn't leave any nutrients behind.
• Each plant was fertigated with 4.5L of this mix. Each pot produced about 1 liter of runoff.
• It may be an illusion, but I think I can see improvements just eight hours later.
COMING UP
• A return to the regular flowering feeding regimen.
• I have one pound of "BuildABloom" (2-10-5) coming from BuildASoil. I will use this as my pre-flower tea in the future.
LESSONS LEARNED (push down list)
• Day 50 - Consider using rice hulls rather than perlite when I build my new soil.
• Day 50 - Another tip from a podcast, saturate the pots until you have a small amount of runoff two days before planting the seeds. You can plant directly into the container and you don't need to think about watering for 10 days or two weeks.
• Day 50 - It was also suggested on Reddit that I should have added my flowering tea a little earlier in the life cycle.
• Day 50 - You can reset an organic grow that is already is in flower. Of course, I should have noticed and treated it earlier. And, I won't recover those leaves that have been damage. But I am certain that the reset is allowing me to get all I can out of the remaining days of the grow.
• Day 50 - I think it is interesting that both nutrient burn and the lack of other nutrients.

ENVIRONMENT THIS WEEK
Temperature - ~68F-~84F
Relative Humidity - ~48%-~72%
Comment - The VPD runs between 1.2 to 1.6, this is good for the mid-to-late flowering stage.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• My BuildABloom from BuildASoil arrived. I decided to treat the plants to a new mix of nutrients. BB is derived from soy meal, rock phosphate, fulvic acid, water-soluble gypsum, and horizontal Epson. It has 10% available calcium. It dissolves well, but not completely, in water. I do have to stir it frequently to ensure that no sediment is left behind.
• Removed the largest fan leaves blocking bud sites. Removed the worst of the affected leaves to make it easier to gauge the progress of the plants.
• While they are far from perfect, the plants seem to have recovered from the earlier problems. I'm looking forward to my next season to see if I can continue to improve.
• The accidental topping of Super Uzi #2 on Day 34 seems to be paying off. I now have two nice tops where there once was one. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't top autos. I just did it accidentally and am happy that I did. Next time I hope to manifold an auto just to see what happens.
• I ordered most of the supplies I need for the next season from BuildASoil. I purchased worm castings, gypsum, charged bio-char, BAS Soil Re-amend Nutrient Kit, and rice hulls. Picked up some peat moss and compost locally.
• My new jeweler's loupe arrived. 30x and 60x with an LED light. Far superior to my earlier 10x model. Easy to see the trichomes! Note: Don't bother with the "microscopes." While they work fine, the magnification is more than needed for a trichome check and the shallow depth of field makes it difficult to use to look at the plant.
• I took the photo Super Uzi out of the pot today. I was pleased to see that the roots extended to all parts of the SpringPot. The air pruning near the edges was fascinating. It does seem that my nutrient mix and watering process is good for root development.
COMING UP
• Will the Sour Stomper finish this week?
LESSONS LEARNED (push down list)
• Day 57 - When you let the dirt get too dry it contracts around the roots and they can't work properly. You want to keep the media constantly moist. Not saturated and certainly not sitting in water, but moist. I think of it as water moving down through the media. you want it to get to the bottom, but the top should be reasonably dry before you water again.
• Day 57 - An interesting note, cannabis is close enough to tomatoes that you can bury the stem below ground level and it will simply develop more roots, like a tomato. If I need more soil in the pot or the plant stretches too much, I can just add dirt.
• Day 50 - Consider using rice hulls rather than perlite when I build my new soil.

Comment - The VPD runs between 1.4 to 1.8, this is a bit high, but since I am late flowering it is not a major issue.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• The plants are maturing quickly. Mephisto says that the Sour Stomper is a 70-day plant. They are right! Harvest next week.
• The Super Uzi is a few days behind. But I expect that it will also finish next week.
• Some little gnats have invaded the grow room. I know where they came from. I planted some "big box grocery" basil in a SIP system with my old light. Hello gnats. So the basil is now outside and I am going to harvest and clean the grow space. No more gnats!
COMING UP
• Full harvest. Clean the shit out of the grow room.

OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• The Sour Stomper was harvested on Day 73 since the plant spouted. Total wet weight: 180.4 grams. The initial dry weight is 57.5. It may go down a bit as I let it dry some more in a controlled environment.
• The Super Uzi is a few days behind, but it will finish this week.
• For the last few days of the Super Uzi I'm trying the suggestion from BuildASoil of watering 5% of the soil volume each day. In my case that's 600 ml. The risk is very low now, but I may try it for my next grow.
• I spent a fair amount of time getting ready for next season. I hope to have it in the ground in about two weeks.
COMING UP
• Full harvest. Clean the shit out of the grow room.
LESSONS LEARNED (push down list)
• Day 70 - I am now using a wetting agent every watering. Right now I am using Coco-Wet from Spray-N-Grow, but that's just because I had some one hand. There are a variety of brands available.
