Day 36:
I’ve been waiting for this day. I Installed the trellis and took the opportunity to test the 4 new 3000K T5HO tubes I had delivered yesterday. I also ordered 4 AgroMax Pure Bloom tubes that will be delivered next week. Probably flipping to flower phase in three weeks, that should leave plenty of time to veg out and fill the trellis. Woohoo! We’re ScrOGgin’, baby!
Day 37:
Hot, 98°F outside. I’m glad the lights are running on a nighttime schedule.
Day 38:
Hot again. Although, I think I’ve finally figured out the airflow to keep the temperature in the grow chamber from getting too high.
Day whatever:
It’s just . . . fucking . . . COVID-19. . . quarantine . . . Groundhog Day.
Day 40:
The scrog is filling out, also lots of new growth.
Day 41:
Every day I drain, water/feed at wake up time—that goes for me as well as the plants. Both plants in the 5 gallon buckets are consistently drinking one liter per day. Once a week I flood each bucket to the top of the media with approximately one gallon of water while the spigots are closed, then an hour later I drain all but what remains in the reservoir. Not only does it provide a thorough flushing, but also allows all of the roots and media to get well hydrated. I don’t think the roots will drown or rot from one hour of being completely under water. I don’t know of anyone using spigots. Everything I’ve read while researching Hempy buckets, the drainage hole is left open. With the reservoir level being right at the bottom of the open hole, it seems that the slightest jostling of the bucket would cause a spill. I’m sure we can all agree that spillage is certainly undesirable in any indoor grow. I’m a home-brewer, so when I decided to do Hempy buckets, I naturally thought to use spigots for the convenience and I already had them on hand. With the spigots I have had zero spillage. Spigots allow me to hold the liquid, move the buckets to other locations, drain liquid via the drain tube into the drain pan and never spill a drop.
Day 42:
Yesterday there were four new AgroMax Pure Bloom T5HO tubes delivered. I tested them and one burned out in five seconds. I hope to get a replacement soon. The plan is to make the flip to flower in two weeks.
Hi. My first grow; wk 4, indoors, 2 Blue Dream, 5 gal Hempys, 75% perlite & 25% vermiculite, topped with pea gravel. Today I found a tiny, pale green bug, smaller than a grain of rice. No signs of damage. Couldn’t find any more bugs. What is it? How do I prevent any more? Thanks
looks like a leafhopper to me.. here's a link with info for ya.

hope this helps. happy growing! 👊
3 days ago found one tiny leafhopper, haven’t seen any more. Misted the leaves with dish soap and water. Just got Natria Organic Insecticidal Soap, haven’t used because the plants are in dark. Now have rust colored spots on leaves. Is it from leafhoppers, dish soap, other? Thanks
Thanks to all for your great advice! This is my first grow, currently in veg wk 5, using 8 x 6500K, 4’ T5HO. Flipping to flower in 2-3 wks, will use 4 x 3000K tubes and planning to get 4 AgroMax Pure Bloom tubes. Is 50/50 mix of 3000K and Pure Bloom a good combination of light?
Should actually work out well I think. that warm / soft white light with the refined spectral output of the pure bloom tube should give you a nice mix and some nice nugs.. Happy growing man! 👊
Hi. My first grow. Two Blue Dream in week 4 of flower, under 8x 48” T5HO lights, in 5 gallon Hempy buckets. Half the pistols on both plants are brown, stunted and look roached. Is this nutrient burn, pests or mold, etc.? The rest look normal, white and full. See pics. Thanks 🖖
A. The T5 lights are 8 inches above the plants.
A. I flushed twice, just like when I pinch off a sequoia.
Q. I took a closer look at the buds that looked burnt. I plucked one and dissected it to find what look like seeds to me. Please see the pictures and give me advice. Seeds?
Hello. Good news and bad news. Good news first: It could be you have good genetics. I am flowering a Dr. Atomic Northern Lights male in a greenhouse to make my own seeds with a Burmberry, Skunkberry and Amnesia Lemon. I tried to contain the pollen but some will escape and anybody down wind will have good seeds, not hermies. Bad News: Pollen can be carried by the wind for up to 2 km. Hemp can pollenate cannabis. With the window open I'd say you have a 50/50 chance you have good seeds there. the only way to tell is to grow them. The old hippies used to say: The seeded buds were more potent because the plant puts out (once seeded) more THC crystals to try to stop the insects from getting to the seeds. Good Luck. Chuck.
