Not much to report. Grew well. Seems to be kicking into overdrive. No water since I started the seed. No holes in bottom so must be super cautious about watering. Hope it works?
Sorry for not having 3 rd weeks progress. I did photos but got lost in the mix somehow. I must have deleted when clearing crap off my phone. This little girl took off in week 3. Grew to 6”. So of course I topped it and wired it today. Mainlining her should be fun. I’ve been hardening her in window during day. Tent at nite. Tomorrow I think she’s going in the window for good. Hope she’ll deal with cooler nite temps. This is just a trial mini grow. I see so many beautiful solo cup grows. I thought I see if I have what it takes to keep confined pot grow alive. There is no drainage in this glass bowl. Damm near watering her with an eye dropper. It’s cute anyway. Lol. Thanks all for looking at my girls.
kinda inevitable with coco, since you don't want to let the top 1" dry before watering like soil.
algea requires light.. it can't go into substrate.. you could remove the perlite on top, if you want... it serves no purpose there anyway.
i've left it befoer and had no issues. i mostly fill reservoir, thouhg.. .top-fed may get stripped of a minor amount of nutrients, maybe?
You can cover the top of the pot -- paper plates or something fancier that is made for the function.. blocking light will stop the growth in future. pain in the a@ to water, if not automated. i quit bothering, lol.
Well she made it another week. I took off ithe two three fingered infantile leaves for they we’re dying. Someone will probably let me know what the clinical name for those leaves are. I think those die off naturally. They acted as my sugar leaves when I mainlined because I topped after first real node. I covered the pot with black duct tape as to help with some algae that started growing. If it doesn’t help with green algae at least I don’t have to see it. Lol. I think I’ve watered it three times in five weeks and very lightly. If anything ruins this plant it will be because no drainage holes in pot.
I’m just amazed I’ve kept her alive in a no drainage glass pot. This week I watered her twice. About an ounce each time. She’s outside 24/7 the past four days. I readjusted the wire some. I also topped the end branches of the mainline. Will feed next time it’s dry. Kinda cute. If it makes it to bloom, which I’ll have to do in the closet unless I want about a 14 week veg. time alone. Hell I’d never keep her alive that long. Lol. This is all about the fun of it. Will have all other diaries updated in two days from now. Stay tuned next week
Well it’s still kicking and pretty hard at that. I took all her sugar leaves and thinned some. She is doing amazing. Been bringing her in at nite the past couple days. Too cold, windy and rain. It certainly can’t take rain in a closed pot. It went from 6” to 8” in six days. She it one pretty little plant. I really hope I can bring her to bud. So far so very good. It’s starting to drink a bit more and since I put black tape around the glass it gets super warm. I think I will go to bloom a week or so from now. Ya y’all com bac now
Well it’s still alive, but I wish it were a little deeper green. A gave it an oz of fert. to try to green her up. Not that it doesn’t look healthy. It’s actually way healthier then I thought. I figured it would be dead by now. I messed up on the height posted for last week. I put that it was 12 in. In height. It was including the 4” pot. Last week the plant was 8”. This week plant measures 10”. I took it in from outdoors last nite. Put her in tent for her next journey. BLOOM. Let’s hope I can keep a handle on her health for another week. Amazing, I think I could drop one of Weedseedsexpress’s seeds in a crack in the concrete and she’d grow to harvest. The more I grow the more I realize all I am is a butler bringing food and water. If they are readily available she wouldn’t need me at all. So much for thinking I have a growers touch. This one does need a tender regiment. One extra oz of water and I could drown her. I wish I had rethought the closed bottom pot. Makes flushing away any soil issues impossible.I did feed and water her within the narrow perimeters a 12- 14 oz pot allows. She is still alive. Have some leaf issues. Because of it’s closed bottom could be a few things. I had this outside with my tomatoes. Which I’m have problems with brown leaf fungus. Could be that? It also could be nute burn. I’m kinda leaning toward leaf fungus because I have no brown leaf tips. I have been giving her Cal-Mag so that’s not the issue, unless over Cal-Mag? I’ve tried to water with the utmost care but when you have a 12 oz pot it doesn’t take much to throw her out of wack. Going to go straight water for awhile. To see if she greens up and no new leaf spots. In general I’m surprised it’s doing as well as it is. No real signs of bloom kicking in. Not quite confident that she’ll make it to harvest. I’ll try! If anyone has any suggestions, they are very welcome. I am adding a photo of my buddy who’s growing a Bruce Banner that I grew to about 18” and he put it in his garden about 6 wks ago. It was the same seed this mini plant came from. Still wks before flower, it’s 7 ft tall. I fimmed it at about 4 wks. It’s a HULK. Weedseedsexpress has me sold.
Hurry call a Priest! Last Rites. I believe she is terminal. Couldn’t tell you exactly why? Root bound for sure. Took a wire poked many hole to try to get air and water. Tough to get wire in. I’ll take care of her but it’s going to be more a hospice detail, sorrily. Been plucking leaves as they die. Up to new growth now.
It’s sad to slowly watch her die. I’ve been plucking foliage as it dies. Won’t be much left soon. Too bad because it’s starting to bloom. Thinking if I can find my glass drilling bits I’d try to put a hole in bottom. That’s the issue. I think build up of salt and ferts. That I can’t flush out. Along with standing water and root bound she had one foot in the grave when I started. I may just put a screen over top pot to hold what little media it has. And soak a drain a few times. Then cross my finger.🤞. Yeah, I’m going to do that as soon as this post is done. Wish her luck. Ohh I’m adding an updated photo of Bruce friend put in his garden after I tent grew to 18”. Unfrigging real. I’m glad I fimmed her at 4 wks. He thought the corn would hide it. Lol
She is still kicking. I just glad it survived last weeks fiasco dunk and drain flush. Didn’t water her the whole week. I also lowered her from the light. I feel it was too close to lights for what the root intake could handle. Might have helped leaf burn. Just want to try to keep her healthy enough to go full cycle. Funny but as sick as she is she’s producing bud site below cola head buds. Just wish her luck in next week.🤞
Considering the high temps and a media ph of 5 it’s doing quite well. It no longer looks like it might die at any time. The soil ph was very low so I watered with water at 7.5 to try to balance low soil ph. Must have worked some because she’s continuing to flower and even the foliage is looking a bit better. I may just be able to bring this girl full cycle.? We will see.
What can I say. I fucked up in the right direction. I let her get bone dry. Then mixed bloom nutes at 25% with a touch of extra nitrogen. Gave 2 oz for two days then let dry and has been just 6 ph water since. Also trying her closer to the light. I’ll keep an eye and if any adverse effects appear, I’ll increase distance again. Not really going for any type of real bud just trying to reach the finish line. Grow On.🌱🌱🌱
Did a dunk and soak last nite. Soaked whole pot underwater for an hour then flipped and drained. Took this step because she started going bad and it helped last time. Put her closer to light for five days. Started showing burn. Distanced her again. She doesn’t like it too intense. Starting to get frosty tri covered buds.
Still kicking. Don’t know if the soak helped but she seems to get no better or worst. I beginning to think she’ll go full term. Hairs on buds are beginning to turn brown. Might even get two joints out of her. In general she’s maturing and leaf die off doesn’t bother me like it did throughout grow. Hopefully those buds will start to fatten. LOL 🤪
Still kicking 🤞. Smelling quite fruity. Just a waiting game now. I’ve had issues with leaf die off this whole grow. Slow, slow,slow. I t does a smell pretty strong for a mini. Also the buds are becoming frosty. Sry but this could take awhile. Lol. The last photo is me with Baby Bruce’s big brother.( same package of Weedseedsexpress seed. ) Friggin Amazing no?
Sry if she doesn’t seem to change much. I think this could take awhile. Maybe 2-3 wks. I keep forgetting to pull her after 12 hrs, as I have some autos running I just didn’t have time to do diaries on. So her lighting a little messed up right now. The smell this tiny plant is putting out is crazy for her size. Now I realize why my buddies wife is getting sick of smelling the 10 ft Bruce growing in his garden. I’ve grown this strain before and must say it’s one of the strongest hardy thriving strains I’ve grown. If anyone is learning to do heavy training. ( which usually includes screw ups ) this strain will handle it. Well this girls going to keep on trucking. Going to feed her some big bloom 25%. Yeah I know already showing signs of nute burn. Hopefully helps her moving. TY 4 looking in.
This was a tough grow. Never again will I try to grow in a closed pot. I will never grow a photoperiod plant as a mini pot grow. Takes too long. Too difficult to maintain a friendly growing environment. For a tiny plant it puts out big plant aromas. Wasn’t going to close diary today but trichomes are milky and everyone must be sick of following a slow changing plant. I am going to leave in pot for a few days till pot is dry. Will add dry bud weight next week. Lol kind of comical even speaking of bud total. I will be taking a growing break for a few months. Will try to keep up with all my friends diary post. I sincerely want to thank everyone who has taken their time to follow my grows. Thanks again. I want to thank Weedseedsexpress for the beans that made it possible to bring my diaries to you. Try them out you won’t be disappointed. Well she’s dry. I got 10.1 grms. That’s 5 more then I figured. I won’t be doing this kind of grow for a long while. Way too much nurturing to keep them going. She was evidently one strong bitch or she never would have made it full cycle. I added a picture of my payback for seed, pot, soil and growing to 18”. I got 9oz. Of dry bud off of only 2 branches of the 10 ft Bruce Banner. Not completely cut down yet but in end she’ll probably give somewhere near 5 lbs.. unreal. Thanks again take a break but watch for my next grow in a few months. I should have done diaries on the autos got growing from winning seed in monthly contest. They are growing incredibly. Just don’t have the time. Might put together a half-assed diary of the autos after they finish?
@MrJones, Weedseedsexpress has sold and given me some primo beans. These Bruce Banner seeds are almost two yrs old. You can’t beat that. Great strain, great dealer
maybe even put a straw/tube to the bottom then flush that way... I'm guessing the pot is really small to do anything like that. Good luck with the drain 🤞👍
