Hello - having witnessed some truly epic grows on this site, this is my first grow - motivated by medicinal needs, (am running three strains), this specific diary is for Barney's farm Glue Gelato Auto - I thought I would put it up for review in order to encourage any helpful advice that the community can offer. Greenhouse and outside combo, (essentially avoiding rain) and as it is the first attempt to understand the craft, I have tried to keep things as simply as possible. I will start separate diaries for the other two strains, Barney's farm ZkittleZ OG Auto and Grizzly Purple Kush Auto from BlimBurn seeds - but all three were started together and have been (subjected) put through the same feeding/watering regime. As I write this it is week 8 - the girls are at 52 days. This girl was planted in a small pot post germination (1st May), transplanted into final pot (25ltr fabric pot) on the 17th of May, which was when I started to feed her. Regular ph'd water between 6.5 & 6.8. Occasional foliar spray with ecofective bugs & mildew. I stopped spraying when there were obvious signs of flowering. Have been feeding since week 3 - first with some seaweed extract, then with some GroSure tomato food (5ml in 4.5ltrs - across the three plants) and finally with Vitax Q4 powder (7.5g to 10mg). Feeding schedule is circa every 3 days .... if it has been humid or raining I have tended to stretch to every four days. As mentioned above, comments welcome. Would be interested to know if I am vaguely on track from anyone who has grown this specific strain before... however there are a serious number of questions I would appreciate having answers to any of them (please see below)... from my 'research' the majority of the community grow in tents, but I would still be grateful for any suggestions. Is the suggested harvest date (64 - 70 days) reasonably accurate? BF's reputation is very good and I am impressed with the quality of their seeds, however I am finding it tough to gauge where I am in the life cycle of the grow and whether or not I am on time, a little behind or if it is even possible, ahead for any reason. How much can grow environment effect this timeline for this strain and autos in general? I am not talking about amount of sunlight (I cannot control that element) but whether it is reasonable to expect a delay to harvest date if environmental factors are not optimal? Does growing in a greenhouse impact this at all? If the timeline changes, what are the signs to look for - pistils changing colour, additional trichome development (I understand pre-harvest analysis of seeing mix of milky and amber) but as the buds are developing I am still unsure as to a few things. How to know when to stop feeding? How to know when to start flushing? Is two weeks the right amount of time? Is this to be repeated every day until harvest? How much h20 to flush with for 25ltr - 30 ltr fabric pots? Is it until one sees significant run off? (I have the pots sitting in saucers) How much run off is one looking for? (Is water being 'clearer' important? Is it important to stop watering at all a few days before harvest? As mentioned above, I would be grateful for any advice and/or answers to the questions above.

Grow Questions

Wk 8 on first ever grow. In first wk of diary are questions based around my inexperience. Anyone willing to have a look, many thanks in advance. Glue Gelato (Barney's Farm) suggests a 64-70 day harvest. Thinking about 70 or 77 as target? Stop feeding when? Start flushing day 60?

You have a long way to go. When it starts to look close to ripe it's usually a good time, because there's still 10-14 days, typically, from that point. Being familiar with trichome progression will help too. Start observing, now :) Anyway, your substrate will impact how long you flush. With soil you have extra room for error.. can always changeup midstream if it is going longer. Bring it down slowly though. Don't flood the thing. Normal irrigation with healthy runoff is all until top 1" dries again. you can only pick out the day if you are familiar with the plant. The plant does the planning, regardless.

Thank you for your responses - do you find that the dates on harvest are relatively accurate? I would like to understand when to stop feeding...

@Bud_Di_Spenza, appreciate the kind comments. Day 60 today. Target harvest from Barney's Farm for this strain is 64 - 70 days from germination. I tend to gravitate towards the latter end of that range, and agree that conditions are the obvious influence. Have only just started flushing. As it is the first attempt I am inclined to be early, rather than late... taking into account a two week flush I would be looking to harvest around day 72, 73, 74.... If I need to wait a few more days I can - am enjoying watching the girls grow. I did read that some people flush and then have up to 5 days dry before harvesting. Am not sure whether this is the right type of thing to be thinking about first time up, but I can recognise the logic. Keeping an eye on trichome development. Would prefer a 50/50 mix for this strain. Am hoping that she ripens up during the flush as she uses up any remaining nutrients. But am not overly concerned about having a 5 ounce plant, more that I have some high quality ganja to enjoy. If her smell is anything to go by, that first easy timer is going to be exceedingly tasty. Good luck with your grow.

@ReggaePharma, In my experience it's about 2-3 weeks longer than advertised, but that also depends a lot on the strain, light, nutes etc. While some of your close-ups already look pretty ripe, I would wait at least another two weeks (based on latest pictures) before flushing since the buds look like they still need some time. PS: Really enjoyed watching your grow, keep it up :)
