She really started to push after I raised her lights about 8 inches. I did my first defoliation on her at about day 23. Also tied down her lowest 4 to try to get a canopy.
Dream is really stretching after I raised the light for 3 days. She has 8 limbs tied down, and another 8 flower sites other than the cola at this point. Her flower sites are starting to yellow, and we are getting closer to flower.
She took her first worm casting tea at day 32, and .5ml of Bloom A, B, and Cal Mag at day 34. I would say this is her first week of true flowering, and she has developed nicely. I can't imagine another strain that would be this forgiving in a novice.
Day 42. Week two of flower has been very educational. In the beginning I couldn't understand why you would remove lower flower sites because even if they are larphy, they will produce good hash. Now I understand. Blue Dream is teaching me so much. She has so many flowers in her lower branches that it is crowded. I should have followed advice from my mentor, and cut more off. Since she is in week 2, I have decided to leave them instead of pruning her. I messed it up, but she should still produce well. I have defoliated about 15 leaves that couldn't be controlled, and only take one from a set so I never take too many. She is starting to stack nicely, and I am optimistic.
Day 49
She has started to put on Trichomes, and fill in. I pushed her a little too hard, and I am gonna flush her on her next two waterings. She is showing early signs of nute burn. I think she has reached maximum height, but it's my first Rodeo. She is getting sticky, and even her bottom branches will produce. She is slowly maturing, and I see new growth everyday. Overall, it has been a pleasure to grow her.
56 days down. Hoping to get to 95 days. She is swelling like crazy. I have been using worm tea which I don't know how to add to the list of nutes. Unfortunately I was following the recipe, but not the procedure in making it. I have been giving way too much nitrogen to them, and have had to back all mutes off for another single flush. I figured it out on my own so I am learning, but Dream got some yellowing leaves. She never missed a step, but learning what I was doing wrong will save me later. Her primary flowers are getting big, and her secondary flowers are producing well. I am really glad I didn't cut them when I thought I should. I can expect at least an ounce from those secondaries. All in all, I am really excited about this grow. I know it isn't over till it's over, but I have gotten this far. If I pull 6+ ounces off my first plant, I will count that as a win.
Fastbuds Blue Dream'Matic at 9 weeks. While initially I thought I had a toxicity, she was beginning to Autumn. I was never able to get her to 20ml bloom because I held off because of the perceived problem. She is still swelling daily. Her Trichromes have begun to Amber so she will be getting pH water for a week then just tapwater before harvest. At this point she will come down at 76 days which is mind-blowing to me. She has a citrusy smell with a strong skunky(?) undertone. I am really excited at this point, and can't wait to share harvest photos. Thanks for following along!
Well, she is 70 days today. She has started to fade. Leaves are yellowing, and showing some red. She is still producing white pistols, and new flower growth daily. Her Trichromes are mostly cloudy with very little Amber on the flower. She has swollen a great deal through the week. I gently pulled her secondary branches away from the primaries to allow more light penetration. I check her maturity about every 60 hours. She was watered with pH'd water last week, and she is getting tap water this week. She should be completely flushed before harvest. Got my humidity packs, humidity sensors, jars, and drying closet ready. It just up to her now. Not so much impatient as I am excited for my first harvest. With her, and a Bubba Kush getting ready to finish together, I am so stoked. Will have a video uploaded later. Thanks for stopping by, much love, and happy farming.
She seemed like she wanted more nitrogen in the end. She continues to swell right up until the end. Her Trichromes went from cloudy to Amber very quickly. I checked one day, and two days later she had turned and was ready, at least the top half. I selectively harvested in hopes to keep her from getting too much ber while trying to get the most cloudy Trichromes. Very happy outcome so far.
I selectively harvested the main cola, and 3 forks which is about half of the plant. Since she is a Sativa dominant plant, I don't want too much Amber so I had to chop the top half while finishing the bottom. She wasn't too hard to trim, and she has so many calyxes. Fortunately I was gifted some Blue Dream to smoke while harvesting her so I could report flavors and effects. It is the same strain as the one I grew. She seemed like she wanted nitrogen more in the end than what I expected. I unfortunately trimmed some secondaries that would have produced good flowers, and it cost me a little. Between that, and wavering on her nutes I didn't push her as hard as I could have. She turned out beautiful in her autumn with yellow, red, and purple leaves. The flowers are very, very, sticky. The flowers that were bunched face to face turned out a much lighter green than the rest that was exposed to the light more. At this point I am very happy with Fastbuds seeds, and will definitely being growing more seeds from them. I will report back in a couple of weeks with full weights, and report on her individual effects. I can't believe I made it. I am so, so very happy right now.
Edit- Roughly half the plant weighed 402 grams wet. I will update dry weight, and the rest of the harvest when I have those numbers.
Edit 2-395 grams total to 797 grams wet. I still have some of the bottom branches secondaries to harvest. I believe that I will easily cross the 800 gram mark wet.
Edit- So the final tally is 261 grams dry. That's about 9.3 ounces from my first plant. I have over an ounce of trim that I will be making into cannabutter. I am totally stoked, and will be dropping a Fastbuds GSC Auto in the next few months. Fastbuds has made me a believer.
If I pull 6+ ounces off my first plant, I will count that as a win.
.....uhhh, ya. 1 or 2 of my 25 plants in my 23rd year of growing gets 6+ zingers.
To have this expectation on your first indoor grow, an auto at that....
This "mentor" jorge cervantes by any chance?
@BudXs, I agree that lights are important to a certain degree. If I was growing even in a a 4x4 I would build my own quantum boards for it. In a 2x4x6 foot tent, my king Blurpies the plant next to it as well as the plant under it. I also rotate the plants every couple days to try to give them the best spectrum I can. Indo this until they become too big to do so easily. I also spin them about 4 times a day to make sure all sides get the best light I can give them. I will be adding a side blurpie that is about 30 watts just to try to fill in the bottom better. My mentor has played with this over 2 grows, and swears that he gets more density than before. The light is an important factor, but you could have the nicest light, and still burn seedlings, and miss your first opportunity to feed tea, or over feed, and it could really suffer. Would my grows be better with a a better light? Of course. But using the right nutes at the right times will trump a better light. I honestly try to force my girls to stay short. I got the 6 foot tent thinking it was going in a shed. Then my wife decided it would be better to move it into our closet. I will pull my lights to 24 to 28 inches at about 20 days to facilitate the stretch, but as soon as I lower my lights, I ride as close to the top cola as possible. I have a Laser thermometer that I check top cola temperature with to make sure the top cola stays at around 79 degrees. I let the Mars down to about 14 inches for awhile. I want her to stretch, but not get really tall. My first grow I had to zip tie my lights to the tent supports. I ran out of headroom. I am not saying light isn't important, but most mediocre lights do the job. Spiderfarm, Mars, Vivaspectra, they all do the job. If I had a commerical grow I would be using better lights, and co2. Since it's a small tent, I like to believe that the attention I give them makes up for a better light. I could have got better, but my mentor grows under a Mars 2000 and a King. Helping him harvest/trim a Blue Kush at 12.5 zips made me a believer. I didn't just believe the guy. I helped harvest 2 plants before I even got my card. When I started, my mentor gave me a milk crate with everything I needed except the tent light and fans. I am not a religious person, but I was blessed. If you can find legal grow rooms, or Friends in High Places groups on Facebook, I would be happy to share more. I belong to about 15bcanna pages, but those are the ones mod, and admin on. That way, I can private message you, and not run up huge threads on my diary.
@LeafTucker, i dig what ur sayin. One point i have to disagree with is the order of importance you place a few factors. Genetics yes, nutes yes, but light, light is the food.
Its what the plant eats, not nutes. Nutes are vitamins that will help release the full potential of the genetic, and it is up to you the grower to perfect the enviro and not fuck up fertigation. Check @Nobody1 's article in the copywrite contest, decent read, will add to your aresenal
@BudXs, and as a side note, I bred fish for 5 years, and bred Huskies for 6. I have always loved controlling the environment and ecosystem. It's a power trip I think. Teasing white Huskies out of two red Huskies because I couldn't don't with my white male was one of them. I had to breed the white males daughter with another red before I saw white Huskies. So playing with genetics is something I have done for 20 plus years. Dogs and weed,y two biggest passions.
@LeafTucker,
Sweet bro yea Bluedream is always been a favorite with the friends an family over here lol. Everytime i run it its always the first 2 disappear lol. But yea i love the smells from the BD its always very fruity and danky smelling my last one i jus did had super skunky notes almost to bad point like oh my god tht reeks lmao. Tht was sumthn new ive not run into with the BD b4 they were always super fruity but this one had sum xtra funk 2 her lol. But still some great smoke. Well shit bro gud luck with ur grow im down 2 watch the girls do there thing n see how they end up come harvest time.
@canamatoes, thanks brother! Pretty proud really. I put alot of time, and energy into learning, and I stoked beyond belief. I can do better, but feel for a first grow I did alot right.
Yoooo, that main cola is going to be monster!! 🤤 😍
This looks amazing, nice color, all out great structure, bunch of bud sites. Great job!👏👏
I'm glad to see your learning from the experience. Many growers don't think it's worth it taking that bottom growth off but it definitely is.
You've got a good mentor, such have listened but hey live and learn. 💪
Good luck and Happy Growing!😃🌱🌿🌲
@Mr_Motalovah, I am trying. Found a good guy who has amazing skills, and put the time, money, and effort to try to pull off a good first grow. His Blue Dream looks killer. It's about 10 days ahead of mine. Hoping I still pull the colas he pulls without pruning the bottom. Otherwise, I have a perfect example of why to do it, and learn from it. All in all, I am totally stoked so far.
@Fast_Buds, your genetics certainly are. Thank you for making me look good. I know that it starts with the seed. That's why I was gifted Blue Dream'Matic as my first. What a start, huh?
Very, very good strain. Checks all the boxes. Tastes good, nice heady light high that then drops into your body. Very nice hybrid!
