Started two Grapefruit seeds from Canuk Seeds on Canada Day 2020. Started in paper towel and transferred to rockwool once the tap root emerged. Left for 3 days and came back to 2 cute little 3 cm seedlings. I cleaned out the buckets and baskets, rinsed off the hydroton and mixed up the first batch of Diablo nutrients. I transplanted the seedlings into the hydroton and have the tent fully operational. exhaust fan is on low, humidifier is on high and the ES-180 is on low at max distance, on an 18-6 schedule.

I've been reading that the RH during flower should be <50 and ideally 40-45 late. I've got good air circ, and the RH is around 50-55 atm. Will a mini work to bring that down ~10%, or should I look at external? Or will it make that much of a difference? not much room in there! TIA

To be safe in mid to late flower keep it down 40 % and under if possible. Not much risk of bud rot then. You could Mcgyver a dehumidifier to suck from the tent while sitting outside the tent. Very effective. Cheers

this should really be Week #1, but I wanted to track right from seed :) i found a perfect wire shelf at HD to use for a scrog screen; got it installed and ready to go; just zip tied it to the four corner poles and it slides up and down easily, and stays in place. All levels are good. Checking everything pretty much everyday. I'm going to track both plants in this diary, and they're the same strain so I'm going to label them before next update. Also you can see I permanently marked the back wall of my tent for easy reference of plant height and screen & light distance. so far so good!

Starting week 3, these two girls have doubled in height and are looking great. I forgot to up the nutrients last week, but now we're back on the Diablo schedule :) I attached some pictures of them as the brand isn't listed here. I came a cross a couple of yard sticks so I attached them on the back wall of the tent for an easy visual. Also dropped the water level this week. Both girls have their first roots through the pots so I made sure the water level was just at the bottom of the basket. Brought the Electric Sky a little closer and I've been ever so slowly dialing up the intensity (started at minimum) and they don't seem to mind. So far so good!

#2 developed a weird kink, she's growing sideways and one stem is turned white so I added a couple of photos here, and wanted to see if anyone's seen this before?

Make sure the white isnt PM, sometimes when humidity is a little high in the tent and the water under the plants can start it early on. If it happens to be PM 40% homoginized milk and 60% water and give her a spray. You also should try to keep your humidity down around 40% as when growing in water your humidity around your plant is actually quite a bit higher than what the tent says it is. Cheers friend

First, #2 didn't make it after week 3 :( whatever that weird kink in her main stem was, she didn't like it. I was going to start another one but when I came home after being away for a few days and found how much #1 had grown, and considering this my first scrog attempt, I thought I'd just focus on #1. Her main stem got fat so quick I can't bend it over at all, so I dropped the screen to where I could just bend it and am starting the scrog there. It's at about 8-9", hopefully it's not too close, but I have lots of room in the screen since #2 is gone. Every day I've been tucking the new growth where I can, and trying to plan out the path. Trimmed some of the growth under the screen as well. trying not to do too much rn, just keep up with the tucking :) Once her roots got into the water I dropped the level to about an inch below the basket, and with the increase in grow nutes, she exploded this week. I've got the ES-180 at max and dropped it to about 10" above her. She didn't seem to mind me creeping up the light intensity, so now I'm going to try putting it closer and see how she likes it. She seems really healthy to me 😁

10AUG update - Did some more tucking and leaf removal, broke one of the branches not quite halfway off, maybe it'll heal, we'll see :/ I don't think this is the best strain for scrog, the stems get thick fast and there's not a lot of spacing between the bud sites. I mean, it's working, but those branches are stiff! Noticed a couple small faint brown spots starting on a couple bigger fan leaves, which I figure is a calcium deficiency so I starting adding a little Cal-Mag. I had been searching for Hydroguard for a couple weeks with no luck, so I got another variety of root treatment called Hygrozyme, started with that this week too. I think she's flowering now, so I'll call this this last week of Veg and will start transitioning into flower nutes this week.

Leaf problems - I noticed some tips starting to turn a bit yellow/brown so I pulled the ES180 up about 3" and dialed it down to about 2/3 power. She's also got some brown/rust spotting on older leaves, which sounds like a Ca deficiency. I've been giving her Cal-Mag the last couple weeks so I'm going to do a full fresh water/nutes change and calibrate my pH meter to make sure it's accurate. Humidity has been getting about 50% lately so I have a small dehumidifier on the way to try and keep it down at least below 50. Otherwise she seems to be doing great!

Did a full water change this week as my pH was running a little bit high. Seems to have stabilized better now too that we're into the final ratios on Diablo's feed schedule. Over the past couiple weeks I've been messing around with the light, turning the intensity down and moving it closer, but my temp dropped a little more than I'd like. So I turned the intensity back up, and moved the light away a few inches. I've also been slowly removing fan leaves, almost daily. Just the big ones that start to cover up a bud site, plus I'm hoping it'll help with the RH. Right now I'm working on trying to get the humidity down below 50. I picked up a couple of those rechargeable hanging closet dehumidifier things with the beads in it, but they don't seem to be doing anything. Hopefully I can get a decent dehumidifier in there this week. Otherwise she seems to be doing great. I can already smell a bit of citrus :)

Seedbank says "flowering time 7-9 wks". She didn't flower until week 5, so that tells me she should have like 4-6 weeks left. Could she be ready half way thru week 8, after flowering for 3.5 weeks and does that mean I missed the opportunity to flush? :( TIA!

Hi mate, imo as I see it you are at least 2 to 4 weeks from harvesting. May be the colour of thc seems right but the buds are not fully developed. If you grow in a dwc system and not soil you can flush 3 days before harvest. There are products for this. Untill you see the pistils turn orange about 70% dont check the thc with microscope. Usually when you think you are ready you still got a couple of weeks. From the pics I ve seen you are 2-3 weeks far from ready. No matter what the seedbank says to get the max out of an auto the grow cycle should be at least 12 weeks from seed to harvest. Hope was helpfull.

Buds seem to be developing nicely, they're super sticky, super frosty and I can start to smell some citrus. Planning a water change in the next day or so to flush until she's ready for harvest. Pistils are just starting to brown.

Probably only a couple weeks left, so I changed the DWC water to just pH adjusted tap water; pistils are slowly changing color, still less than half are turned. Trichomes are crystal clear and the buds are looking frosty.

@Bikoo, thanks! I wasn't planning on topping these, no. I'm a little nervous about topping autos. Maybe after this grow, and I have an idea how fast this strain grows I might top the next ones :) I've setup a screen though ... very much looking forward to creating a massive scrog! 😁

Interested in how this plays out. Never tried an auto feed system but I am tempted. 👍
