Sweet Seeds Dark Devil Auto

This girl is getting nutrients through slow release mixed into the soil. Half a bag on Monster Bud Mix should last from seedling to harvest in an 11 liter pot. We'll see how that goes. I'm using Canna Terra Professional mixed with 30% Perlite in an 11 liter fabric pot. The plant resides on my balcony where I move it around a bit to catch as much sun as possible. Day 1; I helped her to remove the seed husk in morning so she can open up during the day. Day 3; I wonder if she might be a mutant. She's showing some funny looking leaf grow. Day 5; She's not growing. I think I might have cooked her with the high temps we've had lately, around 30 degrees C. I started to germinate a new seed to replace her. Day 6; She's growing super slow. She'll get dug up when the new seed is ready. Day 7; Still near no growth. The new seed has germinated quickly and is already popping out of the husk. She'll replace the first Dark Devil in that pot. The slow one will get a smaller pot and less care... Day 7-2; I down potted the original seedling to a 3 litre pot and put the new seeding in its place in the 11 litre pot. Hopefully I can keep this one happier... Dark Devil II Day 1; I provide some shading in the form of chairs during hottest part of the day. That should keep this girl a little happier than the first one.

Dark Devil 1 Day 18; She's growing very slowly and is showing other signs of stunted growth. Her leaves are looking stubby. I believe her roots are tiny. This girl will get very small... Day 21; I topped her above the 4th node and removed the shoots at node 1. The 4th node where she was topped is a tripple node. Dark Devil 2 Day 11; She's almost the same size as her sister by now. This girl grows so much better. I'm glad I replaced DD1. Day 14; I removed the shoots at node 1. As soon as she is big enough she'll get topped at node 4. She looks like she's got a quadruple node at node 4. Great node for topping!

Dark Devil 2 Day 16; Today I topped her at the 4th node. I initially planned to keep the shoots from node 3 as well, but since I have a perfect quad node where I topped I decided to remove the shoots from node 3 and just have the 4 shoots from where it was topped. Day 20; The plant seems happy after the topping, and the 4 tops are developing well. Can't wait to see her grow those branches out. Day 21; The 4 tops will shortly be ready to be trained outwards. A perfect quad line - awesome!! Dar Devil 1 Day 23; Not much to report. She's small for her age and has some misshaped leaves. Day 27; She has bounced back properly after she was stunned as a tiny seedling. Now she's growing at a normal rate and she keeps up with DD2 - at least for now. DD2's larger pot will push her to get bigger than DD1 eventually. Day 28; DD1 is starting to look promising. Her 4 side branches from nodes 2 and 3, and her 3 tops together make a nice plant structure. I'm looking forward to start LST this girl.

Dark Devil 1 Day 29; Today she was big enough to start training. I bent down all branches except for the lower two that should catch up. I've upped the silicon dosage a bit due too high temperatures. Day 30; She's shaping up beautifully. I see signs of beginning of bloom. Dark Devil 2 Day 23; Today DD2 got her quad branches trained with her first set of clips. Also this lady shows signs of beginning of bloom.

Dark Devil 1 Day 32 - day 2 of flower; Day 33-34 day 3-4 of flower; The lower leaves show unhappiness. I hope it's due to the drought. Her pot is small, only 3 liters. I have to feed her twice a day sometimes. I added some CalMag to her feed. Day 35 - day 5 of flower; All new leaf grow is looking great. I just have to make sure I water her in time. Day 36 - day 6 of flower; Her leaves are turning lighter green in colour and she needs more feeding. Unfortunately I won't have any to give her for a couple of days. ========================================================================= Dark Devil 2 Day 25 - day 2 of flower; Both girls started to flower yesterday. This came a little earlier than I was expecting for DD2, so she'll be a little lady. Day 26 - day 3 of flower; My perfect quadline is all twisted and is getting straightened out a bit. Day 27 - day 4 of flower; I'll have to keep working those branches. They want to twist. Training in the afternoon didn't help since they then tried to reach for the low sitting sun - twisted branches. Leaves show super health so far. Day 28 - day 5 of flower; I've straightened out her arms a bit. Day 29 - day 6 of flower; She's doing great and the buds start to build up.

Dark Devil 1 Day 41 - day 11 of flower; I've added some nutrients to the feeding mix at a third of recommended dose. Her lightly green coloured leaves tell me the amount of nutrients I added to the soil wasn't enough. Totally expected since the soil only got about 30% of what should have been added. The buds are developing rapidly and start to show some nice purple colour. Dark Devil 2 Day 34 - day 11 of flower; I've added some nutrients to the feeding mix at a third of recommended dose. DD2 is darker green than DD1, and might be getting a bit more nutrients than she should at the moment. We'll see if it'll be possible to keep sharing nutrient mix between these two. DD2 is also getting purple, maybe more so than DD1. She's also starting to show a bit of purple on the bud leaves.

Dark Devil 1 Day 45 - day 15 of flower; Her colours are slowly coming back to a darker green. The extra nutes are doing the trick. She smells very good. Dark Devil 2 Day 38 - day 15 of flower; She's showing some beautiful dark colours. The smell is absolutely amazing! Very sweet and fruity. She smells a bit more than her sister.

Dark Devil 1 - day 52 - day 22 of flower; She had an accident a few days ago. The 3 main branches snapped as she was pushed and dropped 0.5 m on her head. Growth have slowed on those branches. Dark Devil 1 - day 55 - day 25 of flower; She's doing alright after the accident. Hopefully she'll get stressed and increase her resin production as a side effect... Dark Devil 2 - day 45 - day 22 of flower; This girl is looking more stunning for every day. Only 3 weeks of flowering and her buds are thick and sticky. Her smell is insane. Dark Devil 2 - day 48 - day 25 of flower; The buds are stacking on beautifully. I'll give both plants a foliar spraying tonight of cinnamon. That should hopefully keep Red spider mites and powdery mildew away...

Dark Devil 1 Day 62 - day 32 of flower; She's getting buds that smell of heaven. Day 64 - day 34 of flower; Close to be ready to chop. Dark Devil 2 Day 53 - day 30 of flower; Bug attack! I sprayed them with Tec-Fort. Day 55 - day 32 of flower; The buds are developing quickly. Day 56 - day 33 of flower; These sweet smelling buds are getting quite sticky. Day 57 - day 34 of flower; It's getting close to harvest time. Both - Day 58/65: I gave them another spraying of Tec-Fort to make sure all bugs are gone before harvest. I have to wait a few days to harvest after the spraying, but that'll be perfect for harvest time. I expect to chop in 3-4 days. I'll do a bud wash at harvest to get rid of dead bugs and stuff.

The plants grew very well and they started to flower early - already after 3 weeks. I was hoping they would take a bit longer but flowering started shortly after quadlining and the plants couldn't grow as big as I was hoping for. But the buds grew very quickly, and I'm super happy with the bud development. They smell absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to try it. They are incredibly beautiful to look at as well. Lesson learnt for my remaining seeds: I will grow in coco instead of soil to get faster growth in veg, and only top the plants and then LST them.
