Ladies are still into ful veg, week 8 on the scale. Set outside like the autos after 2 1/2 weeks indoors.
Dug some 30 L holes and made up a mix of forest soil paired with Biobizz Allmix, Guanokalong, perlites and moss.
Very lovely smell already for being still in veg, development is good for the environment (really rough, constant weather changes this year).
Trying to maximize my outdoor yields on photos this year, which will be quite hard due to the rough weather. I'm not giving up tho and I still hope on a good late summer!
The weather was supposed to jump back to summer. There was sunshine, dry weather (low humidity) and a few clouds announced, which changed radically again.
Only rain, clouds, high humidity and cold temps.
However, the development of my photo ladies is still great imho! Pre-flower signs on all 3 Frisian Dew and 2 Super Silver Haze.
Even though the weather was f*cked up again, my autos are also FIRING up. Check them out on my other diary!
Judge yourself :-)
As you see on my "#Intruders!" pictures - I have some wild animal intruders!
There are fresh boar tracks around my spot but not directly at it, so it might've been deers or a very stretchy, fat rabbit. Who knows.
I definitely learned from that mistake of not putting a fence around the spot. Will change that next year, for sure.
When the plants go into flower they will receive their last feeding (they have only been fed once so far). There are more and more pistols showing up on the SSH and the Frisian Dew. Kush is not showing anything yet.
All the ladies (besides 2 of the Kush) shot up pistols and even some calyxes showed up.
They also received their last top-dress feed today that should bring them through flower.
I will also use the left-overs of my BioBizz liquids + AlphaBoost (Enzymes).
We had near to no sunlight the past 2 weeks + lots of rain. I really hope the weather will change. The plants could really use it.
I am praying for a dry, hot autumn. Couldn't stand more botrytis on this spot.. The early harvest on the Super Silver Haze Autos was already a big blow..
Since the last topdress feed, the ladies are doing really well.
Everything looks healthy and all Frisian Dews and Super Silvers are into flower!
2 of the Kush started building up a few calyx + pistols so I'm certain these are females. The 3rd (small one) is not showing anything yet.
As I described earlier, there won't be another feed. At least its not planned. I will, however, use my BioBizz leftovers when buds are showing up + Neem oil to prevent more mold and botrytis and give the ladies a last boost.
Next week or the week after, big defoliation inc!
Due to the high temperatures (35-38°C) and the super low humidity, the plants didn't really continue their flower well.
Felt like everything bounced back, tried to counteract that with lots of water.
Worked my ass off, bringing my 20L cans to both spots several times to provide enough water.
My big rain barrels are almost empty.
Finally! Frisian Dew started developing real buds now, the SSH started shooting up some pistils and calyxes.
Saw 1 or 2 tiny calyxes on the random Kush (only 1 plant though). I hope that at least 2 of the Kush will turn out female.
Interesting grow so far, I got a real good feeling about the Frisian Dew!
Ladies are doing so well since I gave them another heavy feed and watering.
The SSH is about to go into flower I believe (saw a few calyxes and pistils shooting up) - the Kush is not really showing much yet. I have a feeling that 1 is gonna be a male, maybe 2.
The Frisian Dew is doing absolutely dankdiculous! You will smell them from a good step away and they're flowering just beatifully.
They have a very sweet citrus/berry smell right now, unlike the SSH (very dank, pungent and musky).
However, I am still worried about the heavy winds and storms we are encountering the past week. I really hope no more branches will snap (lost 2 main tops last week)! Fingers crossed!
Oh and if you didn't notice they BUSHED THE FRIQQ UP since last week! 👽😍
Especially the Random Kush impressed (one of them at least) and I hope to get at least 1 female out of them. I'm not good at spotting male/female prior to flower so lets be ready for a surprise!
The plants survived a heavy storm. Was the worst storm I've ever -literally- been in. Had to run back to the car because 8+ m trees bend for 90°+... I almost pissed my pants hahaha!
Only the 2 tallest Frisian Dew got a little bit of a bend over after the storm was over. Checked for it 2 days after. Seems like the plant is mostly connected to its roots still (no signs of any weakness/stress).
Flowering looks really good right now, the Kush all went into flower, like the Super Silver Haze. So as it seems for now, all the 9 ladies are females!
Lets see what we will get through! Weather will change really badly now, however I got a good feeling about the Frisian Dews :-)
Sooo I've been using hydrogen peroxide (food grade 3%, the least strong one that's out there) for the first time.
I've been spraying it preventative (1:1 ratio with tap water) for 2 times now and have not found a single spot of mold/mildew or fungi on any of the ladies.
A little bummer was the fact that I have a new infection with mites and thripes on every single plant.
They didn't seem to care much about the hydrogen peroxide. I still have lots of neem oil but I simply don't want to spray the plants with it anymore, because of the flowering stage.
One of the Frisian Dew started becoming purple already (almost black on the inside of the flowers) and the Kush seriously got more flowers going than the Super Silver Haze right now.
This kinda pisses me off because the SSH was advertised to be the "perfect sativa" (not fast flowering) for northern hemisphere grows and it seems like the 3 monsters will not be ready pre mid november.
This means they will all die and all the work and money put in there was for nothing. Well, this was one of the worst years in my whole life in terms of everything, anyways. Nothing really worked for me and everything was cursed by bad luck.
I can only hope 2021 will be a better year for me and that I will get through 2020 😆
The critters got some company!
Found a good amount of lady bugs on one plant. The plant was almosed cleaned out from the thripes, mites and whatnot.
Just hope they will come back.. Theres a big bunch of critters jumping around everywhere and I cannot do anything against it right now.
Well, well. This is, how 9 weeks into flower in the cold, rainy north of Germany looks like for Frisian Dew, Super Silver Haze and the random Kush.
The three bud-shots of the Frisian Dew (one of each plant) are pretty awesome aswell, no? Love the frostyness.
The smell is REALLY strong right now. You will smell them from a point where you can't even see them, if you know where they are!
The big Frisian Dew and the small one (due to pests) have a very skunky, dank smell with hints of sweetness while the light purple pheno smells straight like wild berries.
Furthermore, I gave the SSH a hardcore lollipopping, almost kyle kushman technique. I want to harvest at least a few buds and process them into hash if they're not matured.
Same for the Kush, however I only gave them a very light lollipop. They're too far into flower.
If you wanna see how the lollipopping turned out, stay tuned for the next update!
Great development, critters are getting less due to colder weather.
Especially the Kush is coming along very strong, still and developing crazy frost.
The Super Silver Haze is also looking fine, my preventive hydrogen peroxide sprays have worked so good..
First outdoor grow in my life (#5) without any signs of mold and we had super high humidity the past few days and lots of rain.
No fading yet.
Not much to say. Plants are developing rather slowly, which is not a surprise.
Taking into account that the weather is really cold and humid on average, the late weeks are going to be some work.
I use 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) food grade 3% solution (a really decent biocide) mixed per 1 Gallon of water as foliage spray.
This is for a prevention of fungi (like botrytis cinerea), powderey mildew or mold.
As someone who is growing in a very humid and relatively cold area (northern hemisphere) I need to take care of the named pests as early as I can.
This means: prevention! Whenever it is possible..
I plan to chop the Frisian Dews in 1-2 weeks, that should be more than enough time for the buds to chunk up and become dense.
As of now, the buds appear very big and frosty, but none of them are really dense. Thats why I will give them some more time, obviously.
Stay tuned!
