well upon further inspection HOUSTON we have germination. (Edit as I was putting this towel into the bag I think I smushed this one.. wa wa) out of the 6 looks like 2 started germinating. Good news for the rest of the jar.
Seeds found in jar saved from 2010 harvest.

So stoked to find these seeds. I found about 50 seeds when going through a jar a farmer friend from carmel valley gave me waaay back when. Either “awesome purple” or “lemon jack” either way so excited to have seeds from the old school. After a day soaking in a shot glass SUCCESS germination two of the six. I moved them to a towel and Ziploc bag. In the dark on top of my tent where it’s nice and warm.
Yes. I find it really helps my germination rate!
I keep them in water about 18hrs, then into a moist paper towel for 3 days. Plant the seed, taproot down and wait. Another 3-5 days and ta’da- 🌱
On older seeds, I'll always soak them in PH'd water for 24-48 hours. On newer seeds I'll soak em till they sink, usually 4-12 hours, and then do the typical paper towel method with a heating pad on old or new seeds.
@ChronicFinest, me too! I have about fifty ish without actually counting them. I’d say at least 20 good feeling and looking ones. They’ve been in a mason jar for 10 years so I think they’ve been stored properly only time will tell. I have them in a shot glass germinating over night so we’ll see.
