My first purple strain! :D Timing should hopefully work out for this one to get nice and purples, since it'll be autumn when she's flowering and much cooler temps. :) Struggled a bit getting this gal started - first bean overheated and died. Second one germinated no problems, but after sprouting she had her little seed helmet stuck for nearly two days... I tried to gently pop it off but it was stuck really good!! Had to some super delicate work (thank god I have tiny hands) but eventually got it off - she was all yellow/white leaves from being stuck in there so long. But she pulled through! Hooray 😃
Talk about good genetics! Honestly this gal has been through all kinds of craziness this week, including being shut in my car under a tarp for 6 hours for an open house on a 35C day (I had the windows ajar to get a bit of air in the car but it was bloody hot and humid). Yet she seems to be thriving! Really happy with how fast she's growing, will be topping her at 15 days.
If all goes well I'll only have to pop her in the car for 3 hours next time, and only two more occasions - just had some organisational problems this week.
I've ordered some Silica (Cyco) today so I can start adding that to her feeds, just in case she turns into a monster 😃 Sick of my plants falling down when they get fat.
So I topped this gal at the 4th node on day 15. 😀 She barely noticed, growth is still going gangbusters.
We were much better organised this week so she only spent 3 hours in the car for the open house. Mr Tonks got the tent back up on his own cause I was at work, good thing he's tall and handy cause I woulda been useless, can't reach the top bars to lock them in! #shortpplproblems
Started to get some yellow in patches coming in from the sides of the leaves, you can see a bit of it on the first day 20 photo. I'm thinking some kinda PK deficiency? I'll start adding the flowering nutes and see if that clears it up. Also got some silica this week and started adding that to her feeds. :D
Sorry for the delays in updating, I'm about to drop a couple weeks at once. Things have been a bit of a nightmare this month - on top of open houses and having the flu (4 weeks and counting, really ready for it to bugger off now), my little brother is passing away. It wasn't unexpected, he was born with major brain damage so they always said he'd live til around 27, but since I'm sick I haven't been allowed to visit and say goodbye at the risk of infecting all the other kids in the facility. Life can be a bit shit sometimes.
ANYWAY
This week went off without an issue - started to move to flowering nutes. She's getting bigger every day, seems happy and healthy! I don't feed all of the above nutes at once so don't panic about the EC. Added some stakes so I could open up the branches a little more. She was already too tall to tie to the sides of the pot so this was the best I could think of! :)
Steady growth this week :) Noticed a funky split branch that looks kinda like it topped itself, though that was pretty cool! Been trying to keep the lower part of the plant clean but since I have space I'm not being too brutal with chopping lower bud sites. The HPS gives good penetration and I'm keen to see if I can maximise the yields - not sure this craziness is the best way to achieve that but gosh darnit I'm gonna do my best
She's going strong! Still keeps growing lol she's getting pretty uge. Really good spacing though so the light is getting through. She's super thirsty, sometimes needing more than 3L a day to get runoff. Flushing twice a week, I think this is the longest I've ever gone without massive tip burn so I'm pretty happy :D
Getting frosty!! Finally got this diary up to date, day 49 was yesterday so we're all on track now. Here's hoping April is better than March cause that month was a nightmare.
This week was PK Heavy week :D My favourite of the weeks. She's responding really well, the triches are building nicely, and the smell has kicked into overdrive, smacks me in the face when I open the tent. Smells delicious! Weirdly some of the pistils are turning orange already, not seen that happen before this quickly? Keen to see if the colour starts changing to purple or if this pheno is just gonna stay this colour.
Cruising towards the finish line with this gal! Getting steadily more frosty, buds getting fatter, all the good things :D Not too much to report really!
Goddamn this gal is stinky! In a delicious way :D Dropped back the A and B this week, from the look of the trichomes should be about one more week of feed then flush time, so I'm gonna lower the EC next week a bit and focus mostly on the PK.
Oh such a stinky gal. :D
Just stuck with PK nutes this week leading into the flush. My weeks are a little off, so I started this nute schedule on day 62. Started to flush on day 68.
The temperature is finally easing off a bit, starting to see a little purpling in the tops of some buds but think that's the best I'll get in the these conditions. Or it could be a pheno thing. Either way, she's so frosty and smells so good I really don't mind missing out on my first purple weed. Hopefully smooth sailing til harvest!
Love love love this strain :D Easy to grow, handled topping with no problems, put up with harsh conditions several times throughout the grow, and yielded over 5.5oz of beautiful dense frosty buds. She would be great for resin products, keeps gunking up my grinder and gave a good chunk of scissor hash :D
Definite stinker of a strain - the carbon filter struggled and I only had two plants in the tent this run. Double bagger. The structure on this pheno was amazing, real sativa style of growth. After topping barely any training required, mainly just some defol.
Taste after a two week cure is fruity and spicy, bit of a berry taste in there too. Definite indica effects - sleepy hungry happy kinda strain with some nice pain relief properties for medical use.
Didn't get much purple coming through, unsure if that's a pheno thing, or more likely due to the heat since the stems were purple, and I did get some bud colouration in the last week when the temps dropped. Be cool to run her again in winter and see what happens! Good bag appeal on this one either way since the nugs are frosty little rocks of goodness.
Grown in a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2m tent
11L Fabric Pot
Medium: Nutrifield Coco/Perlite blend
600W HPS light
Topped on day 15 at the 4th node
Dry yield 158gms
Had a great time documenting this grow, despite all the drama going on in my personal life. This is my last diary for a few months while we find a new home, but got all my seeds ready to go as soon as we're settled in. :) Thanks to everyone for all the comments and support. Much love!

Any tips on getting them to turn purple? Ive got Auto GDP´s on the way and would like to get that deep purple on them when I get around to growing them?
@Tonks,@Tazard I think I got it... It has to do with temperatures , but not the ambient temps as people believe , but rather the irrigation temps. It makes more sense , as the plants turn purple from the inside out....

Have a read through this article. About half way down it explains :
**One of the first visible symptoms are purple stems and petioles and very dark leaves, which is probably caused by a deficiency of phosphorous (this element is poorly assimilated at 15ºC, and won’t be assimilated at 10ºC). The growth of the plant is stopped and soon deficiencies of other elements will be observed, like magnesium or nitrogen.
During bloom, this problem usually results in poor flower development, although resin production is normal in many occasions, as happens with intensive off-season outdoor farming. Thus, the size of the buds will be much smaller and they’ll develop much more small leaves.**
So , taking this into account , I would say to leave it right to the end , most likely the flush cycle . This way they can grow like normal and when you flush reduce the water temps to about 10 Cº and they should colour up. Maybe the lower the temps , the darker the shade purple or black even....?
I am planning on building a indoor aquaponic system in my man cave and will build a separate flush bed with a separate tank for cold water flushing...Just need to figure out how I am going to lower the temps to maintain a constant temperature... Ill figure it out once I get there...but might still be a few months...A lot of work to do before I can start cycling my tanks and getting the growing going... Time will tell and I will let you know how if it works.....
@Tazard,keep us informed what they say. ive read up and it seems definitely its the temperature drop that does the trick...but on another thread I read something about the water temp dropping and not the air temp. Also seems they do it late into flowering. when i get there i think ill try both, during the flush cycle , in a seperate cupboard with lower water temps and lower air temps...I havent actually started growing yet , but wanna learn as much as possible before I start.
@Tonks, yea but still that’s hard to swallow not being able to say good bye. I’m happy you got to say your good byes before he moved on that’s awesome! Life is one crazy mother!
Do you have any experience with topping autoflowers? I've seen it's quite controversial, I'm doing LST now but I'm thinking of trying topping my next grow.
@grower_not_shower, I've topped a few, all have gone really well so far. It used to be controversial topping autos but now ppl are mainlining them and getting great results! I just stick to a rule of nor topping unless the plant has 4 or 5 nodes by the end of week 2, and try to top between day 14 and 20. 😊
@GreenZealand, Yeah this one and the Magnum are both pretty big for babies! I've started training the Magnum but I topped this one, I'll post the update soon. I had the light a bit higher than I'd like but I've finally been able to drop it now that I'm harvesting my Monkey. Don't plan on too much restriction though cause I've only got the two plants this run, plenty of room for em :D
@grower_not_shower,Yeah i defoled heaps! Cause she's so tall but i didnt want to cut all the lower bud sites, needed to get the light to penetrate. And i like to get more energy into buds instd of leaves 😊
hey tonks, checked out all of your grows and would love to do something similar, some very nice work! I've been using nutrifield for photos and wanting to go into autoflowering, have a bunch of seeds ready to go and picked my strain for the first run, Cream Mandarine xl from sweet. Now i just want your opinion on a few things, i have a 1.2x1.2x2 tent, how many plants and what size pots would you recommend? 2x 15l fabrics was my idea, secondly feeding nutes, you mentioned you dont feed all in one cocktail because of high ec, are you able to explain your procedure throughout a week eg. week 4. For my first run ill stick to your ml per L, and wait for the plants to tell me what they need or dont need, thanks for your time
