LearningasIgrow I threw some diatomaceous earth down to protect against bugs and then being the noob that I am I watered the medium. It's a little early but I started Lst this week and gave them a small dose of nutes

LearningasIgrow Plant 4 seems to be growing a little bit quicker than all the rest. I snapped a fan leaf on plant 1 while I was doing some LST, not ideal but im hoping she wont miss it. Gave the plants another small dose of nutes.
So I've noticed the tips of my leaves are starting to curl. I'm pretty sure I gave them nutes too soon so I will be laying off nutes for a while.

LearningasIgrow This week the plants are starting to flower but it was a bit rough for me and the plants. I ended up accidentally topping plant number 1 while trying to do some LST on it and the plants are still trying to recover from my overfeeding.
LearningasIgrow Don't be fooled by the nice looking flowers, I'm definitely having a bit of trouble here. I've got something going on with them that I can't quite figure out. I know there was a nitrogen toxicity but I feel like there is something else going on. Any input or opinions are welcomed.

LearningasIgrow Tested the pH of the runoff and saw that it was 5.0 so I continued to water the plant while using a small dose of a liquid nutes until I had a runoff of 6.3. I did some LST for the last time just to increase the light to some of the inner bud sites. Also did a bit of defoliation

LearningasIgrow Moved the light too close to the plants too quick and now the plants are foxtailing. The colour on these buds is unreal. I can't wait to harvest but I'm going to be patient and let them bulk up

LearningasIgrow So I think over the next few days I am going to start chopping these girls down
Haven't tried any of it yet, I've currently got it curing. It was a pleasure watching these plants grow along with the colour progression. The buds are a beautiful deep red/purple.

LearningasIgrow Overall it was a good first grow. I would have liked more of a yeild but I put that on my inexperience. The smell of the buds initially hits as fruity but that is soon followed by a strong gassy smell.
The buds start off by giving you a body buzz which is soon followed by an euphoric head high

LearningasIgrow I ended up losing half of one plant during the drying process due to mold. Had my fan on low and didn't have the oscillating feature on. Luckily I caught it before it was too late and was able to trim away the buds that had mould and any that were close. I probably disposed of more than I needed to but I wanted to be safe.
@LearningasIgrow, To be honest... I really am sort of haphazard with my autos. Usually use them as a bumper crop when the photos move to the Bloom tent... and this is only my third run with autos included. I need to get better at taking measurements, but it'd depend on the week of flower and environmental factors. More light and CO2 equals more transpiration and thus more nutes used by the plant. I'd probably go no higher than 600-800 in early to mid bloom and ramp down. I really just read my plants and use the manufacturer feed schedule as a guide. I usually half or quarter strength my feeds as it is. I need to get a RO system with kdf filter for chloramine, but for now I am running through only kdf filters and still have a relatively high ppm to start... Around 400. So, I am forced to feed at lower strength. Like I said before, I just watch the plants. I don't have it down to a science quite yet, but still getting pretty good results.
@LearningasIgrow, PPM and EC are similar. I only check PPM. EC stands for electrical conductivity, which is a measurement of the ability of something to conduct electricity. In horticulture, EC is the most accurate way to measure nutrient concentration in solution. You don't need to measure both EC/PPM. I am in the states and PPM is more common here, but EC is more common in Europe. I am citing things I have read, and I am no expert. About autos, I have heard they require lower PPM too. I water down my feed with them too.
@Inganjawetrust, Thanks, I've been really happy with them so far. This is my first attempt at growing. I started a couple autoflowers outside around a month ago that I made a bunch of mistakes on. Ive learned a bit from them so hopefully this grow continues to go smoothly.
Everything looks great now. Isn't it amazing how well it does even when we screw up? I've been doing this forever, and a week doesn't go by without me being totally inept at least once!
