Did my weekly check of this lady and noticed my pH had dropped during the week from 5.7-4.4. My guess is that the increase of bloom nutrient concentration (Which has a low pH, and is now a large part of my nutrient solution due to being in flower) is causing the lowered pH as the plant drinks. This upcoming week I've only added around 60ppm to see if the lower concentration helps prevent this drift.
I defoliated just about everything under the SCROG net and removed all but 6 main branches. Hoping this doesn't hurt my yield potential, and instead leads to 6 massive colas with no popcorn/fluffy nugs. She looks ugly right now, I'll admit, but by next week the 6 colas should fill in on each other. All done with tucking for this grow. Will certainly be using a mainline on all future photo grows as the growth really got out of control ,and the abundance of skinny nodes was really disappointing.
@HomegrownGenetics, I agree, She is definitely a looker, as for flush....I also drop my ppm to zero the last week (5 days) to ensure a cleaner flush. I've only had a few harvest, but I didn't at first, and I think it does make a difference (smoother, less harsh). Anyways looking good man😍🌱
@HomegrownGenetics,man they look 👀 cool , I might start flushing with plain water , it can take 10 weeks of flowering , yours look like they could do at least one more week .
@BigDaddyK, Sorry about that! Just added one with no LED. What do you think of the color? I think I should drop the ppms to practically 0 for this last week as she is still super dark green. Fan leaves are starting to get a little beat up, but it is what it is.
Very nice dude! Keep up the great work! Is it better to put the Scrog deep? I put it pretty high in my own grow..Maybe you have some tips? Would appreciate every comment bro!
@HerrnLubitz98, So this grow went a little different then usual. During weeks 1-6 the node structure was extremely tight so at the end of week 6 I placed the SCROG net roughly 6-8" above where the plant (Only 11" tall) was at the time. As of today, the plant is roughly 36" (and still growing!) which means that this plant has more then tripled in size from the start of flowering. Normally a plant will double to triple in height in flowering, but because of the tight node structure during veg, I assumed she would only finish at about 26-28" tall. If I could do it over again I would've either started with the net higher up, or did less defoliation (See Week 8). Thanks for the great comment!
Hopefully you cloned her! She looks like a beauty! Looking healthy, awesome job man your killing it. I'm doing a seedrun of GC here really soon with a Greencrack/Tangie Cross.
@Lucky777, Thank you so much for the kind words! I actually did a cloning experiment off this girl when I topped her. I took 5 cutting, one was the apex growth point from where I topped, and the other 4 were from lower branches that I was getting rid of anyways. Within 2 weeks, and with no rooting gel/powder, the 4 lower node cuttings rooted in jiffy peat pellets. However, the topped node didn't root at all. My guess is that it is due to the difference in auxins from the cut points. I actually rooted the 4 clones under 12/12 lighting which isn't even ideal for clones. Once rooted, I ended up just throwing out the clones because the tent was already flowering, and I had no where to properly veg them. On another note though, I look forward to seeing your journal! Let me know when you get it started and I would be happy to follow it!
I know this is an old post but I have some questions. Why did you use a screen? I was under the impression it was to keep canopy height equal.. this is clearly not affecting your canopy evenness. It seems like it’s helping keep the plant supported which is good, I just don’t really see any other reason for it in your setup. Please don’t take me the wrong way, I’m not trying to offend. Just want to learn🤓
@Bluebudz, In my opinion a first time grower should grow a plant completely normally and not top/LST/supercrop.
However, I broke this rule my first grow as well ;)
@HomegrownGenetics, oh ok so it was not intentional. I would like to try a screen, do you feel it’s something a new grower should go for or wait till I have a few grows under my belt? Thanks for the time to reply.
@Bluebudz, I only was able to see the plant once a week, and at some point during stretch, she grew through the SCROG so much that I stopped using it. It was really just used for support at this point. There's a timelapse on my Youtube channel where you can see the buds literally falling over, only being saved by the screen. My current grow log I am able to make adjustments everyday and I will achieve a much more even canopy. Thanks for the comment!
@StereoGreen, Yes I chopped her down last Saturday. She's drying at the moment and hopefully should be done by Friday/Saturday. I'll weigh her and post the weights on the harvest tab. Gonna cure for 1-2months but I'll do a non-cured smoked report for ya :)
@BigDaddyK,
Sure does! You should've seen the nug this plant came from. She's moving along nicely, just hoping for some side branching during week 5 or else I'll be forced to top her.
