Royal Gorilla Auto-Organic RQS nutrients

Really looking forward to using the RQS organic nutrients after the quick germination in their easy start kit.. Sowed 4 seeds in the Easy Start on Sunday 9th August and placed them in a propagation tray on a heat mat set at 25°C. By the end of the Thursday 12th they had all popped through the top of the soil so the 10W LED came on, the next day the pods had dried out so gave them a bottom drink of water, with added Ecothrive Neutralise to remove the chlorine and salts and pH down to get it to 6.3. Saturday 15th - Transplanting Seedlings are now 3 days old and have developed good strong roots so have outgrown the pods. 2 of the seedlings have been potted into 1L airpots and the other 2 into 9cm plastic pots to compare the difference. The bottom half of each pot was filled with Canna Terra Professional and the top half of the pots filled with Canna Terra Seed Mix, using these with the RQS organic nutrients allows for an organic grow! Watered them in with 150ml of neutralised water, pH 6.2 and placed them back on the heat mat under the 10W LED light til they get a bit bigger.

Update 26th August - End of week 2 Seedlings have been growing happily over this week. They had a drink of water on day 9, on day 12 rusty spots developed on one of the first true leaves on plants #1 & #3, diagnosed this as a magnesium deficiency so gave them a feed of calnesium at a dose of 1m/L. Plant #2 looks really happy and is showing no signs of deficiency. Plant #4 had 3 cotyledons and is developing 3 set of leaves rather than 2 so appears to have triploid genes, will be interesting to see its growth and development compared to the diploid plants. They are currently still under the 10w LED but will be moved under a 1000w light asap when the space is ready for them.

Update 30th August - day 18 Plants were moved under the 1000w light yesterday, its on the lowest brightness just now so they don't get shocked, will gradually increase the brightness daily. Update 2nd September - day 21 Last update for this week, yesterday the plants were potted up using Canna Terra Professional soil with a bit of Canna Seed Mix added in.. plants #1 & #2 went into 12.5L airpots, #3 & #4 went into 15l plastic pots. They were top dressed with 20g/pot RQS easy boost organic nutrition. We then dissolved the RQS easy grow booster tablet into 10L of water (half strength of what it says on the packet as we're growing autos so don't want to cause nutrient burn). Used this mix to water the plants in, the plastic pots got just over 2.5L each and the airpots just a bit less. Will see how long it is until they need another drink, thinking it could be a few days cause the root mass is tiny compared to the new pot sizes. #3 couldn't stand up after repotting so required some support, it's standing up on its own now so hopefully it bounces back quickly but think it got transplant shock, the others seemed okay. Update 9th September - day 27 Has been a busy week so only got a few pictures. Found some beasties and signs of pest damage on the plants so sprayed them with Pyrethrum 5EC organic insecticide on thursday - will repeat the spraying for the next two weeks. Plants are showing signs of calcium deficiency so have been given a regular foliar feed of Bionova Ca-15. See week 5 for more photos a more in depth update.

Update 16th September - Day 35 Plants have been given a regular foliar feed of Bio Nova Ca-15 this week to combat the calcium deficiency but we think it ended up causing nitrogen toxicity cause the leaves started to claw and turned dark green so we have been giving them a rest from the foliar feed. We decided to give them a foliar feed because the pots weren't drying out so didn't want to over water them. They were sprayed again with Pyrethrum 5EC on Thursday to control the pests and will be given a final spray tonight. Plant #4 is the only one that's smelly at the moment. They are looking tiny for their age, hopefully they start getting bigger soon 💪.

Update 22nd September - day 41 Not much to report this week, they're much happier but still quite small. Gave them a drink with the RQS Easy Bloom Booster tablet dissolved in 10L of water, pH 6.4. #3 is the biggest of them all. Hoping the bloom booster tablet will give them all a growth spurt!

update end of week 7 - day 49 Plants are looking pretty happy now. #3 still seems to be a bit further ahead than the rest. They've been watered twice this week with RQS easy bloom booster tablets and seem to be responding well to these nutrients. The canopies of all the plants were shading the lower branches so had to pin some of them down so they could capture more light, hopefully this didn't cause too much stress but it needed to be done..

Update 4th October - day 53 This week the plants have had two feeds, they are taking about 2L/pot at each watering and that's lasting them a few days. First feed at the start of the week was RQS easy bloom booster tablet dissolved in 10L of water. Today they were given a feed with Bio Nova PK 13/14 at a dose rate of 1.5ml/10L because of the rust spots on plant #1. We did some lst to pin branches down and defoliated a couple of the plants this week to allow more light to reach the lower bud sites. They are looking happy but still quite a while away from finishing..

Update day 62 Plants have had a couple of feeds this week with Bio Nova PK 13-14 The air pots are taking about 1.7L each and the plastic pots taking about 2.5L each, first drink this week the airpots needed it a day before the plastic pots but today they all had a drink together. They are all at quite different stages of flowering, #1 is still stretching and the buds are really tiny and #2 is quite small but much further ahead, the main cola is getting bigger everyday. #3 and #4 are the same height and the buds seem to be at a similar stage. Enjoying watching them grow and looking forward to the finished product!

backlog - unable to access site This week the plants unfortunately got an extra feed of PK by Rhi causing pretty bad nutrient burn. We had to flush them twice to remove the excess nutrients, this was around the 14th Oct - tested the run off and it came out as this: #1 - required 4.8L to flush it - 1120ppm - pH 6 #2 - 4.5L - 1670ppm - pH 5.8 #3 - 3.5L - 605ppm - pH 6.3 #4 - 3.5L - 552ppm - pH 6.4 #1&2 are in plastic pots and they take a lot longer to absorb water and nutrients compared to #3&4 which are growing in airpots so the nutrient burn showed up quickly and was quite a bit worse on the plants in airpots..

Update day 75 The plants are being watered with plain pH'd water with Ecothrive Neutralise, the leaves are going pretty yellow think they are starting to die back cause they're getting to the end hopefully! The nutrient burn hasn't been devastating but they are being quite slow so it could be due to that. Checked the trichomes with a microscope but they are still clear with some milky, going to wait for a lot more amber!

Update day 79 Really hoping these are going to be finished soon, they're taking quite a bit longer than expected and we've run out of smokes!! They're getting a drink in the morning and will check the trichomes again soon to see if we've got any amber ones maturing, here's hoping 🙏

Hello fellow growers We're just waiting for these to be ready really, it's taking a while for the trichomes to turn amber... As you can see last week we ran out of smokes so we chopped down plant #2 cause it was the most ready, and oh it's been tasty and so strong! definitely bed time bud!

Photos have ended up a wee bit muddled up today but the plants are almost ready, #1 might be another couple of weeks but we'll see... Trichomes are getting there, smoked some of #2 for breakfast and felt like I needed a nap so it's definitely a strong strain! chopped down #4 this week, she's hanging up to dry and smelling fruity!

Not much been happening this week just waiting for them to be ready #1 is getting frosty and #3 is looking really purple, will check the trichomes in the next few days to see how far away they are from being finished #4 has been trimmed and is now curing, it's really fruity and tastes nice in our bong.. we only got an ounce of this plant, hopefully get a bit more off the others, we'll see happy growing!

Thanks to James at RQS for sending us supplies this was our first go at full orgaincs, we're sold on it and having another go with their nutrients and a different strain we did have some problems which wasn't that much of an issue but we did have to add in inorganic nutrients, Finished product is nice and smooth and it's not even cured yet, really enjoying it and we've smoked too much now so gonna end it here haha 😎
